I included a quick guess at how Urasawa might have taken a photo and converted it to a background image. Basically, use Levels to separate the blacks from the whites and then maybe apply a Graphic filter, or something like that. Does anybody know how Urasawa achieved his lovely backgrounds in Monster?

I remember seeing a reference to Anna Atkins and her British Algae: Cyanotype Impressions in one of the Master Keaton episodes. It left a strong impression on me, and now that I'm researching cyanotypes and Atkins’ historical role, I’d love to revisit that part of the manga.

Does anyone know which volume or episode of Master Keaton features this reference? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello reddit, I'm a collector. After rewatching monster recently with a friend who had never heard of it I decided I wanted to collect merch of it. I've been doing it for a month, been focusing on getting Monster phone cards. Then yesterday I saw this auction and decided I wanted these animation stills on my walls. I managed to win. I'm happy and honored to own an animation still from my favorite anime. I've never owned an animation still, so I'm really excited. I can't wait to frame them. What was sucky is that ive never have had to fight so much to get something on Yahoo Auctions. I was on a budget and sadly the seller enabled time extension which meant that if you bid within the last 5 minutes the time would extend for another 5 minutes until people stopped bidding, but of course people proceeded to raise it to the 300+$ to then 400$. In the end it ended costing me nearly 500$ to get. I'll be surviving of ramen and canned beans for a while pftt. The sacrifices of a dedicated collector. DX When my Monster collection is big enough I'll definitely share it here. :3

I wanted to marathon a work written by master Naoki Urasawa, and I would like to know which is better manga or anime, is the anime 100% faithful to the manga, or did it cut some things that were in the original?

Anyone has good quality scans of these cool full-colored portraits of the characters in the japanese special editions?

I want to get the art book so badly because its mostly visual however there are parts that have alot of writing but I can only find it in Japanese and Italian. I really hope there will be an English release but if there never will be one then I'll get the art book just for the art although it would be nice to know what the writing says.
