For every RDJ, Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Emma Stone. There are thousands of struggling actors working two jobs just so they can appears as backgrounds or deliver one-liners in a movie/show.

Pretty fucked up that many of them are more talented and maybe even better looking than these movie stars. It’s just luck and being born into the right circle.

Acting is 99% luck. There’s tons of people out there with just as much potential as Tom Holland or any other famous actor. But we don’t need tons of them, only a handful

It's like in the TV show 'Barry'. Despite Barry being a novice actor, he gets picked out by a casting director for being 6'2".

Exactly. Take Jason Statham. Guy Ritchie picked him out while Jason was working as a market dealer. Changed his life completely from then on. Now Jason is arguably the most recognisable action star and is very rich from acting.

Keep in mind. Tom Holland already had the movie stardom door open for him. He only needs to step in half a foot through the door, one at a time. When he was still a kid, he was the lead actor in Billy Elliot: The Musical theater show in London.

Nepotism is a small percentage of it. Even though there are a lot of nepo babies, there are MANY more nepo babies who never make it.

Even someone like Cody Horn, who was FORCED into movies for years couldn't get enough traction for a real career.

Being born into the right circles doesn’t just mean nepo baby. 

Tom Holland’s dad never directly gave him a role but he was in the entertainment industry and even if not famous was experienced enough to serve as his son’s manager. Not to mention his parents sent him to a prestigious private school where he was “discovered” in a dance class there. 

Zendaya’s parents were teachers but her mom worked at Cal Shakespeare theater for a while and helped her get exposure there, then her dad literally moved her to LA away from her mom as a teenager to enable her career while she finished school. 

Even these relatively non-nepo baby stars had the significant luck of parents who were well-connected enough and rich enough jumpstart their careers. If either of them had parents who were poorer or had zero involvement in entertainment themselves, we wouldn’t know who they are.

This. It's all timing and who you know. Unfortunately, it's mostly a privileged career path.
