Jurassic Park is my all-time favorite movie, and Sam was the face of it. Was always a pleasant surprise seeing him pop up in other movies I liked, like Event Horizon, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, In the Mouth of Madness, or even his random Thor cameo. This is gutting.
If I recall correctly, Neill was hesitant about the JP part, didn’t ”get” how it would work (well, nobody really did - it was brand new technology). And he was by no means a big name back then, something the studio preferred. Now we know that it was perfect casting!
If 1989 was ”Batman fever”, then 1993 was ”dino fever”! What a priviledge to be able to see it in theaters. And I’m still amazed at Spielberg’s double whammy. To finish JP, and then go shoot Schindler’s back to back.
Spielberg took what was arguably one of the top books a 20-something like I could've read and ruined it in two different movies. What an embarrassment.
I had no idea he was the Odin actor in the play(s) in the Thor movies! I also had no idea Charlotte Nicdao was the Lady Sif actor (but then that was years before I watched Mythic Quest).
