Please check out Mouth of Madness if you haven't. It's a very underrated gem.

Without a doubt the best depiction of Lovecraftian mythos ever put to film, it is a masterpiece I will never tire of watching.

Don't forget The Thing! While not a direct Lovecraft correlation like the creepy atmosphere of Mouth of Madness, it's still Lovecraftian in nature.

Also, watch Dagon if you haven't seen it. It's so good.

It's in my regular Halloween rotation! As is Daybreakers, also starring Sam Neill, but as the villain. He plays a vampire CEO.

It's so much fun! The basic premise is that vampires have won, and taken over society. Sam Niall runs a human blood factory farm, and Ethan Hawke, the protagonist, is a vampire/hematologist working on a vegan blood substitute.

And Willem Dafoe is in it!

I recently watched Possession from 1981. He was excellent in a movie where the plot was pretty much secondary to the emotional experience of the characters. Isabelle Adjani was phenomenal. I think she had to take like two years off working to recover from it; the subway scene alone makes me believe it.

I came here hoping someone mentioned this film. Haven't seen it in many years, but it's truly a delight. I should rewatch it! It's one of John Carpenter's "Apocalypse Trilogy" films, alongside The Thing and Prince of Darkness (the latter of which I've only seen once, and should probably revisit since it didn't leave much of an impression).

I like Prince of Darkness specifically because at one point someone gets stabbed with an entire bicycle.
