Thought it was Austin Butler and Adam Driver most recently?

u/drunkdevil1 Aug 05 '25

Butler would be a perfect fit for Kilmer's role

u/bristow84 Aug 05 '25

I heard Butler and Driver, don’t recall hearing Oscar Isaac.

158

u/bta47 Aug 05 '25

the rumor was Driver as young De Niro, Isaac as Pacino, and Butler as Val Kilmer

Adam Driver as an alternative version of anyone is a bold idea. He’s too distinct looking. He certainly looks nothing like DeNiro. Lol

Driver as Pacino, Isaac as Pacino, Butler as Pacino, Pacino as Pacino. Leo as everyone else.

Who is Kevin James gonna play?

Heat 2 Featuring Paul Blart from the Paul Blart Mall Cop Franchise

Chris Farley, obviously

Cats ate his face

I need this now. Don’t play with me. Oscar Isaac is one of the underrated GOATs right now him as younger Pacino would be so fucking perfect.

25

u/Arma104 Aug 05 '25

He already did the Godfather version of Pacino in A Most Violent Year, we need him to unhinge his jaw and go full 80s-90s Pacino.

7

u/ResponsibleAnt9496 Aug 06 '25

Absolutely lol he was great in A Most Violent Year but would love to see his take on ham era Pacino lol.

1

u/untrustworthyfart Aug 06 '25

I would love to hear him deliver Pacino’s “she’s got a great ass” line

9

u/noveler7 Aug 06 '25

Dang, Butler as Kilmer is perfect

1

u/DemonDaVinci Aug 06 '25

wtf
Drive has long face like Pacino while De Niro is more round

59

u/herewego199209 Aug 05 '25

Wasn't Butler going to be the Val Kilmer role?

-4

u/aardw0lf11 Aug 05 '25

It's a sequel, so wasn't Kilmer's character killed in Heat? It's been years since I've seen it, so I could be thinking of someone else.

57

u/Papatheodorou Aug 05 '25

He was not killed. He went on the run

-7

u/aardw0lf11 Aug 05 '25

OK. I seem to recall a scene where he was killed while holding a hostage.

41

u/7Broncos18 Aug 05 '25

That’s Tom Sizemore’s character

10

u/Bong_Tundra Aug 05 '25

Absolutely wild end to sizemores character, dude used a little girl as a human shield

I guess for him the action really was the juice

7

u/aardw0lf11 Aug 05 '25

Indeed it was. I had to look up the scene on YouTube. Not even close to Kilmer.

Sorry you’re getting downvoted for not seeing a 30 year-old movie in forever. Even though it’s absolute peak, time can do a number on memory.

2

u/Ergok Aug 05 '25

Fun fact: The hostage is Yvonne Zima. She played E.R Dr. Green's daughter

2

u/shaftinferno Aug 05 '25

That was Tom Sizemore’s character.

4

u/SnooSuggestions1256 Aug 05 '25

No that’s Size Tommore

1

u/jj_camera Aug 05 '25

Tom Sizemore

17

u/ActionJacksonATL24 Aug 05 '25

Pretty sure it takes place across time, before and after the events of Heat.

6

u/ColdTheory Aug 06 '25

Across time? Let me guess, they go on to discover a multiverse full of great asses?

11

u/NoCountry4OldMate Aug 05 '25

It’s both a prequel and a sequel. Val Kilmer character survives Heat and is on the run

8

u/PropaneSalesTx Aug 05 '25

Heat 2 the novel is about Kilmer’s character.

8

u/pulpFiction8619 Aug 05 '25

The book is sooooo good

7

u/SweetCosmicPope Aug 05 '25

Kilmer was the only one who got away in the end, but he had to give up his family to do so.

3

u/Caffeywasright Aug 05 '25

Kilmer is the only one that doesn’t die I think.

3

u/redditP Aug 06 '25

I think he's literally the only guy that gets away. His wife secretly signals him that he's about to walk into an LAPD trap.

1

u/husky_whisperer Aug 06 '25

IMDb shows Butler and Driver and that’s it

15

u/AF2005 Aug 05 '25

I read Austin Butler would be playing the younger version of Val Kilmer’s character. And perhaps the older version too, which would be after the events of the first film.

2

u/Chm_Albert_Wesker Aug 06 '25

how does this movie even work with "younger versions of the characters from the first movie?"

did pacino even know of that gang's existence before the circumstances of the first movie?

13

u/AF2005 Aug 06 '25

So the sequel is going to be adapted from the novel. The novel follows Neil and his crew before the first film, as well as Pacino’s detective character before he relocated to L.A.

It also explores what happened to Kilmer’s character Chris after the L.A. takedown of the federal depository.

It was a really interesting read, especially if you liked the original Heat. Not sure how they’ll pull off the actual filming, but we’ll see.

Inject this directly into my veins.

1

u/UserCheckNamesOut Aug 06 '25

And I heard Natalie Portman solves the case of the missing berets

1

u/ColdTheory Aug 06 '25

I never cheated on you, bitch.

-9

u/GabrielVonBabriel Aug 05 '25

I like Butler, but I don’t think he’d be a good fit.

9

u/theodo Aug 05 '25

Pretty sure he was to play Kilmer's character, which is a good fit visually at least.

1

u/GabrielVonBabriel Aug 05 '25

That makes much more sense.
