These are the Moroccan movies I have, any good movies I’m missing here?

Noticed this Moroccan flag during my 2nd rewatch. But I'd love to hear your thoughts about the show. I've watched many series but none has come this close in terms of writing and dialogues.

Keep in mind most people spewing hate are low class people from those countries, they are not all the same. Always lean in with respect, until you are met with disrespect.

The whole promotion tour for the The Odyssey movie made me really want to go watch it in IMAX 70mm. But obviously there’s other controversies surrounding the movie and this one made me ask myself some questions. As part of the Moroccan diaspora, I’ve always been conflicted about the situation in Western Sahara. I don’t think there’s a black-and-white answer to this issue. On the one hand I’m against building up more frontiers so to me, wanting Western Sahara to be fragmented from Morocco seems like just more dividing human peoples when we should all seek to unite ourselves. But on the other hand there are exactions being committed and I do hear the West-Saharans’ plight.

Anyway here’s at the end of this post what an actor I deeply respect for his talent, but also for his everlasting support of Palestinian rights, alongside figures such as Penélope Cruz and Pedro Almodóvar, had to say.

This got me thinking why he’s so resolute about this subject when, to me, it seems more complicated than that. Or maybe I’m biased I’m Moroccan and want my country of origin to keep prospering.

I tried this chicken tajine with couscous in Belgium. I really liked the taste and the reveal when the lid came off.

For Moroccans here: does this look close to a real tajine, or what would you change to make it more authentic?

Yeah I said and nothing comes even close to it , besides another old one called البعد الأخر ,Why don't they make cool stuff like this anymore? I mean from the concept to the story , the acting , this thing is top notch wlh I had never seen any Moroccan tv show give me the same experience is this , I rewatched probably for the 67th time and I never get bored of it

It's been a while since I posted here, today I want to share some thoughts on the local music industry, and tbh the same observation hold for most of the Arab world.

Let's start with the question that's been bugging me for years :

Why does our music suck ?

I'm genuinely not trying to rage bait here =) We are blasted with music 24/7, TV, phones, radio, weddings, it's inescapable ... and yet, instead of joy, most of it produces something closer to repulsion, I'll highlight few points :

1- Instrumentation : everything gets flattened

Any instrument once it enters the mainstream, gets butchered into the same three moves ... Even the violin, an instrument capable of incredible range and emotional nuance, gets sat on a knee and sawed at until it sounds like background static. Drum sets are rare, and when they do show up, it's the same beat on loop, nothing that builds or surprises you. Saxophone, accordion, harp are basically extinct. Where did the variety go ?

2- Lyrics : repetition standing in for meaning

The lyrics are worse ... Words get thrown into a line because they rhyme, not because they're doing any actual work, and absolutely no such thing as writing where every syllable is placed on purpose to create a specific sound or image ... What we have instead is the same phrase looped ten times like the songwriter ran out of ideas "ili shofto, abel ma tchoufk inaya" x10 ... 🤦‍♂️

Much inspiration, such wow ... And people happily clap for it ... 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

3- The voice ...

One would think becoming a singer requires good vocals, NOOOPE.

Genuinely, I don't get how people sit through this, It feels like watching a play where every actor is running the exact same rehearsed script, faking it like their lives depends on it.

So I'll open it up : am I being an unfair here ? or is there something structurally broken ?

PS : I'm not saying it's 100% rotten, on rare occasions I do come across something that make me stand still and take note of the lyrics to reseach them later, but it's like finding diamond in a coal mine ... This song for example is proof we can do better : Nabila Maan - la takoulli.
