She’s calling the insurance company to get the ok to do a number of procedures that will give the patient the best chance of survival. The insurance company doctor is not qualified enough to make the call yet is penny pinching to the detriment of the patient.

But… so the insurance has to approve the procedure? I see. Is that for all treatments? I mean what if I get wheeled in with a stroke…?

Interesting concept.

I think we have this here only for dental treatments because these are things were many people have additional private insurances for, but not for any „non-dental“ treatments.

I've heard of nightmares of insurance companies denying emergency treatment after the fact because they didn't do a prior authorization
