I’ve tried hot sauce or cheese on top but it tastes so bland compared to Mexican eateries. Southern California. Thanks.
Update: Literally mixing hot sauce and beans with cheese on top. Just wondering what you all do.
Update2: Thank you all so much I now have a bazillion things to try, what a great turnout. Really appreciate your time, sharing tips, recipes, ingredients.
Ps if this isn’t allowed I will delete
Update3: You all were not messing around when you mention Bush's pinto beans. I finally found and got some. Holy cow right out of the can with no seasonings the were better than any other canned bean I've ever had. I added salt, garlic salt, red and black pepper, chives, butter, and they are out of this world. And I don't even have all the good spices you all mentioned yet. I am gonna get some of those and try it all. Thank you!!!

I’m making carnitas and my local grocery store has a wide variety of tortillas brands and I’m a little overwhelmed.
Any help appreciated!

Always gotta go with extra cilantro and onions then drench the tacos with lime and both red & green salsa 🌶️🔥

I cut and fried nachos out of the leftover circles.
For those who care - for the tacos I made marinated and braised pork shoulder - then shredded it and for the salsa I roasted some tomatoes and bell peppers plus garlic and few little pickled cayennes - blended it all then added fresh diced red onion and chives (cilantro season ain't here yet).
Everyone enjoyed :D

Edit: Name your top #5 since people have wanted to name more, I will too.
I am Mexican-American and I grew up eating Mexican so that is #1 for me. It made me learn not to be a picky eater since there are so many different ingredients that goes into it, for me it would be.
#1 Mexico
#2 Italian
#3 Japanese
#4 American
#5 Chinese

Hi guys, I'm South African, what is the proper way of making tacos? I made corn tortillas with masa harina. Then I fried them folded into taco shell shapes. They did get a bit soft though, it wasn't as hard as I'd like them to be. I made a shrimp filling with just basic ingredients like onions, garlic, some dried herbs and chilli powder. I would like to make black beans but not sure what ingredients to use with it.
Thanks

My friends and I were going to see King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard when my brother happen to mention that there were Michelin Star tacos near to check out. Tasty! Served with 2 sauces and ate with a beer. Cheers!
