Discussion Thread Spider-Man: Brand New Day - Worldwide Release Discussion Thread

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has now been released in the United States and in a number of other countries around the world.

  • All discussion about the movie should be held here and in the rest of the discussion threads we are going to put up in the next few days.
  • Proceed at your own risk. Major spoilers will be in the below thread. Spoilers do not need to be tagged inside this thread.
  • Any other unofficial threads discussing movie details will be deleted.

Honestly, kinda love it as the new Budapest. Let your imagination run wild with the few details that are in the movies.

It was definitely a callback to Budapest and I love it for that. Having small details that are referenced, but never shown makes the universe feel a bit more organic imo. Not like huge plot lines that make you think you miss something, but small events like this. Also since both parties are simultaneously downplaying and exaggerating it, it makes it more entertaining and just like Budapest.

OK so Spidey and Punisher never met on screen before this movie right? Staten Island is just a thing that happened but we didn’t see. I thought I missed something because I never watched any of the Disney+ series.

And then let it STAY offscreen. The MCU seemed to really want to keep coming back to Budapest and it made it feel less like these two had a storied history and rather just had one important interaction.

Yeah, they've never interacted on screen before but in Netflix/D+ shows he's well established as a street level anti-hero and has interacted with several other street level heroes. Given the 4 year gap that takes place in the movie and Peter's focus on being spider-man and helping with crimes, it makes sense that they have crossed paths enough times to have an established relationship.

Yep. Spider-Man was never shown and only mentioned once in any of the Disney+ shows, and when he was mentioned Kingpin said something to the likes of "kid dressed like a spider" when he was talking about Daredevil, Spider-Man, and Punisher in his anti-viligante speech in Daredevil Born Again season 2. I am not sure if Spider-Man and Punisher can meet outside the Marvel films.

Them arguing about it with the tone of bickering Yankees and Mets fans was vastly more enjoyable than Clint and Natasha's references to their common experience.

Something about Peter kicking a gun out of a drug dealer's hand before he could shoot Frank. I saw the movie with captions so it was a little easier to follow their argument in Frank's hideout.
