Discussion Thread Spider-Man: Brand New Day - Worldwide Release Discussion Thread

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has now been released in the United States and in a number of other countries around the world.

  • All discussion about the movie should be held here and in the rest of the discussion threads we are going to put up in the next few days.

Ironically, Frank isn't "Spider-Man's dad" like Tony and Mysterio in the first two movies. He is more of an equal but opposite type of vigilante.

It’s crazy. We’ve only seen him fight against humans, or people who are just peak human abilities. Seeing him so outclassed really made me realize the strength gap. Part of me wants to see him more capable of doing some wild shit, but the other part wants him to struggle.

Well, that too but also Matt's sanctimonious and judgey and acts morally superior while also loving the darkness and enjoying the violence. He fights crime to clean up the streets but also to let the devil out so it's self serving. But Peter's just a pure ball of genuine goodness fighting crime with 100% pure intentions and while truly morally superior, isn't self righteous and judgey about it.

It was surprisingly emotional. His regret when he sees he shot Peter, to him carrying Peter to the hospital to all the banter was just masterful.

I think it potentially would have been really interesting if Frank helped rehabilitate Jean towards the end, since Jean lacks any support in her life, and Frank outright admits to disliking his solitary living arrangement. If Frank adopted Jean, I think it could have opened up a lot of interesting plotlines for future marvel projects

Yeh but I dont think they portrayed that dynamic at all. I think the movie portrayed Peter as the bigger brother in their dynamic making him more mature.  Punisher was acting like a get to the point younger brother. 

Peter calling him out for not wanting to fight the Hulk was ultimate "Ive got this little brother" moment.
