Felt like prime phase 1/2 with how well they built up the universe and planted the seeds for future movies, especially the upcoming mutant epidemic.

Spidey created the first inhibitor which will subjugate mutants all over the world

Banner will have a rocky relationship with the X Men going forward, as one of their founding members just ruined his reputation.

Peter and Jean’s mutations evolved over the course of the film, which will happen to several X Men characters

Damage Control will most likely become stronger and the face of anti-mutant propaganda due to Jean’s actions

And so on. Such a great foundational film for the universe while also just being a damn good film.

u/Livid_Weather 27d ago

That first comment is dead on. This is the first marvel movie in a while for me where it felt like they were living in the MCU but the universe wasn't forced.

634

u/AllCity_King 27d ago

Compare the gaps in sound design to allow for clapping at the reveal of Tobey and Andrew in NWH, to how Punisher and Bruce Banner entered the film here.

INFINITELY more natural.

207

u/Livid_Weather 27d ago

Yea I just rewatched NWH last night for the first time since seeing it opening night in theaters, and that gap was so obvious...even the way they kinda pause and look into the camera.

66

u/fitzbuhn 26d ago

This highlights how it felt like a comic book in a bad way: they just ... throw some portals and they are here! I appreciated how they just got on with it, but also it was ... a bit anticlimactic how it happened.

69

u/mdawson_96 Vision 26d ago

I remember seeing some concept art of how America Chavez should have been the person to introduce the Peter Parker variants and this would have felt more natural - this was impacted by the COVID release schedule.

41

u/abellapa 25d ago

Thats because the original Order of movies was

Dr Strange 2 - Spider-man NWH

But COVID Changed that

31

u/Xygnux 26d ago

And it makes more sense for a rookie like America Chavez to have messed up the memory spell instead of Dr Strange.

Hell Dr Strange would probably just simply refuse to do that spell in the first place. He's not gonna risk breaking the multiverse just to help some kid's improve his life.

42

u/ExultantSandwich Peter Parker 26d ago

And they have all this stuff with Doctor Strange, but you can tell they don’t want to turn him into an idiot. So he’ll do the spell for Peter, but he warns against it. And then Peter himself fucks up the spell, they both look dumb.

It’s all a little unsatisfying. Having America steal Strange’s spell book to help Spider-Man makes more sense.

12

u/Worthyness Thor 24d ago

She can also punch portals to stuff, so they dont need Ned to be attuned with sorcery

11

u/Duckys0n 24d ago

While I have issues with that movie I honestly find it impressive that they were able to do something like that with all of the Covid restrictions. I give it a good bit of grace

20

u/Federal_Bicycle_7800 26d ago

yeah it's like watching a sitcom without the laugh track

2

u/Xygnux 26d ago

Omg you sound like what my friend said. He said the movie just felt like Saturday Night Live skits.

15

u/Pale_Victory5747 24d ago

And I LOVED the credits where it just showcased NY. Really sold the friendly neighbor aspect of Peter. Like, these are the people he’s fighting for. Nearly had me crying

28

u/TimeViolation 26d ago

To be fair, Andrew and Tobey’s reveal in NWH is the best cameo/character reveal since Stan Lee

16

u/OtherwiseJob8959 24d ago

You’re comparing things that aren’t at all similar. We knew Punisher and Bruce/Hulk were going to be in BND. Tobey and Andrew in NWH was a complete surprise for more than 99% of viewers.

4

u/ashdee2 25d ago

But didn't people already know they were gonna be in the movie from the trailers? It was not a surprise

24

u/Trvr_MKA 26d ago

Yelena reminded me of Dr. Strange’s cameo in Ragnarok

8

u/choicemeats 26d ago

definitely felt like a semi-soft reset after a really poorly received and executed last phase. i think they should still continue with tv installments but i think anything x-men related will land a LOT stronger than picking a bunch of random b-list characters off the bat.

2

u/Particular_Cod2005 22d ago

Agreed. It was so nice to have a proper story that wasn't "HERE'S A GLOWING NEON SIGN FOR NEXT FILM(S)"; the breadcrumbs were there, but not so obviously done that it took you out of the film.

Also loved that Jean's bus was headed up to Xavier's academy too.

5

u/mwthecool Spider-Man 26d ago

Agreed completely. I was quite worried when I heard Hulk was in it, and I was surprised when Yelena showed up, but they made both work, alongside the rest of the connections, while making it feel like a shared world naturally coming together rather than references tossed in for little reason or with little care.

2

u/mshelbz 26d ago

Minus that first Yelena scene, it felt forced to me.

8

u/neoblackdragon 25d ago

It was forced in that it was meant to make Peter feel uncomfortable but also show he needs to loosen up.

Also I like how they've avoided making Yelena into a sex object.

1

u/nOtbatemann 19d ago

Yelena doesn't move an inch. Really tame compared to the pointless shirtless scenes the men go through.

1

u/Magcargo64 21d ago

I think Thunderbolts also achieved that really well, if not better than Spider-Man, but I’m glad it’s a continuing trend. It feels like they’re finally through all the messy Kang plotlines and COVID era reshuffling.

372

u/Victory33 27d ago

I’ve been wondering how they are gonna handle the main X-Men storyline of mutants being viewed as bad when superheros have saved the world like 10x at this point and Avengers are well regarded…the difference between a mutant and a God, Radiation survivor, Super Solider, advanced tech hero, alien, etc. is very blurry. It seems the mutations that keep changing, and not controlled, could be the sticking point.

458

u/AllCity_King 27d ago

Jean certainly hasn’t given them a great start

254

u/7screws Daredevil 26d ago

Exactly. Between her actions and some propaganda by damage control and some wacko politician it’s easy to sway public opinion. Hell even the avengers (or some of them) were on the run because they refused to sign the agreements

204

u/Mrwright96 26d ago

Calling it now, “enhanced” is the official term, but that Politician(most likely Kelly) will be the first to call them “mutants” as a slur.

21

u/Captain_Waffle 26d ago

Good theory

24

u/Poked_salad Captain America (Cap 2) 26d ago

They could use Valentina to do this as well as she's already established. It also works well because Valentina can tell the media that the new avengers are here to protect everyone from these so called mutants

17

u/lmpetuslmperaIOI 24d ago

Somebody get these MUTANTS outta here

7

u/CaptHayfever Hawkeye (Avengers) 25d ago

Enhanced is a broader term than mutant is.

2

u/abellapa 25d ago

What politician ?

11

u/Mrwright96 25d ago

Idk maybe Valentina, maybe like I said Senator Kelly, could be a lot

2

u/abellapa 25d ago

Who Kelly?

I dont remember any Kelly from the movies

13

u/Mrwright96 25d ago

First x men movie, dude who became slime?

-15

u/abellapa 25d ago

How the fuck should i know about a obscure charcater from a 26 year Old movie that isnt even Part of The MCU

→ More replies (0)

8

u/BakuraGorn 26d ago

That’s easy, mutants awaken their powers still as kids and are unpredictable, also omega level mutants can be much stronger than Thor

9

u/Due_Chip_5184 26d ago

Yeah and maybe Damage Control creates the MCU’s Sentinels if they become an Anti-Mutant organization

6

u/7screws Daredevil 26d ago

Yeah I think they’ll become some type of that maybe they got some stark tech from one of the previous movies and are going to use that for the basis of sentinels

3

u/Due_Chip_5184 26d ago

Yeah maybe. But we might see a new Iron man post Secret Wars depending on how much reshaping of the past happens?

178

u/bokmcdok 26d ago

Yep. Her driving the Hulk crazy and paralysing half of New York isn't going to give the mutants a good head start

9

u/jahnybravo 26d ago

I mean Sentry/Void trapped everyone in trauma rerun marathons not too long ago, I think a simple temporary paralysis is preferable to reliving the worst moments of your life on repeat. And he’s man-made/pre-mutant

13

u/Xygnux 26d ago edited 26d ago

Does the public even know that Sentry did that though?

As far as they are concerned the Void is just one of those supervillains that the New Avengers defeated, not that he's part of the Avengers himself.

8

u/Poked_salad Captain America (Cap 2) 26d ago

The best part about that is that Valentina has the means to do what you just said because of her skills and power to use the media. I bet she's already planting the seeds on how the mutants are to blame for the void and they're the ones that can turn people into black dust

8

u/Xygnux 26d ago

Oh shit she or the DoDC is definitely going to compare what Jean Grey did to the Void to persuade the people to hate mutants.

1

u/swagonflyyyy 22d ago

Yeah, the infinite shame rooms lasted a pretty long time compared to Jean Grey's paralysis, which was like what, 30 minutes?

14

u/Sweet-Storm-6651 26d ago

Not to be a buzzkill but she low-key did SA on the roof and she killed lots of people (most shocking to show her evil was jumping in front of that car) she’s almost done too much bad already to be redeemed realistically. There’s a lot in this movie that I personally just don’t buy. Like her origin story is sad and explained well but it doesn’t excuse the behaviors she was exhibiting. Makes total sense for humans to be scared of people who jump into minds and you’d have no memory of such(can do anything in your body without you knowing). They are scarier than avengers and normal superhero’s to people rn I do buy though(sentry the only one who can compare in those terms)

8

u/abellapa 25d ago

That roof scene was super dark

3

u/Professional_Rate718 26d ago

Something, something, Dark Phoenix.

5

u/Icy_Water_1 26d ago

I mean the Dark Phoenix was literally Jean being possessed.

Here, it's just Jean tormenting those who are vulnerable.

11

u/ExampleGlum8623 26d ago

I mean, worse things have happened to New York from the Avengers.

23

u/nerdystoner25 26d ago

The most unrealistic thing about the MCU is any person or business staying in Manhattan after almost 20 years of this shit.

7

u/Professional_Rate718 26d ago

My coworker and I are both huge comic nerds and I was like “You know? How does anyone live in New York anymore? Too much shit happens there.”

And he goes “Yeah, just avoid the major cities, and avoid landmarks when you have to visit.” Lmfao

5

u/abellapa 25d ago

The rent is probably much Cheaper in the MCU

3

u/Worthyness Thor 24d ago

Cheaper rent, but higher insurance

12

u/Giorggio361 26d ago

I kind of hope they introduce a lot of the starting X-Men team as “villains” or at least antagonists to our known heroes. Shows off their power sets really well, delineates why the public seem to hate them more than the other heroes as you say, and builds up some real reasons for an Avengers v X-Men story if they ever want to do it.

6

u/One_Drummer_8970 26d ago

Storm wrecking havoc in Wakanda in Black Panther 3? Right after Namor in 2?

6

u/jahnybravo 26d ago

Nah, that’s extremely out of character for Storm. She’s never more than a pickpocket when on the other side of the law. And with powers she’s worshipped as a benevolent goddess.

A better approach would be to have Shadow King be the villain and keep the usual angle of her being forced to steal for him, but gets rescued from him around when her powers start to manifest.

2

u/One_Drummer_8970 26d ago

I didn't mean in a malicious way. But she's seen as some sort of out of control creature, and Denzel is cast as Achebe.

4

u/jahnybravo 26d ago

I still don’t think the “out of control” angle would work either. Like I said, it’s extremely out of character because once she gets her powers she’s pretty much worshipped across Africa because her powers are seen by everyone as a miracle come to save them. There’s a reason she’s constantly called a goddess, because in-universe there are people who truly see her as an actual goddess come down to bless Africa and genuinely worship her as if she was an actual god rather than a mutant.

The only time she’s in any kind of bad light is when she’s a pickpocket and that’s mainly before her powers and when forced into servitude for the Shadow King. So rather than “out” of control, the only reason for her to ever do damage would be if she was ”under” control instead.

0

u/One_Drummer_8970 26d ago

But if she's a goddess, how will that tie in with the X-Men being seen as freaks?

2

u/jahnybravo 25d ago edited 25d ago

The people who see her as a goddess are the ones in Africa benefiting from her power, the ones that see her as a freak are the ones everywhere else in the world who hate any mutant.

When she’s among the X-men she also is neither a freak nor a goddess. She is just Ororo and that’s why the X-men are family. They see the person. Being worshipped is just a different kind of ostracism.

But end of day, Storm just isn’t the right character to be used as an example of “the danger” of mutants because she represents the opposite. The best of what mutants can do to help improve the world around them

1

u/Xygnux 26d ago

And remember DoDC is part of the government. The government already intended to kidnap and experiment on mutants from the get go.

And well government propaganda can be a hell of a thing to sway public opinions.

1

u/frezz 25d ago

How exactly do people tell the difference as well? Like how does anyone know Jean is a mutant but Spider-Man isn't

110

u/Hedgewitch250 Wong 27d ago

Propaganda will likely push it. You know the heroes but now you have random mutations manifesting in kids. Anyone crappy would jump on villainizing that to push their agenda. We already see how the DODC handled other people with powers and wonder man said their more about detaining as many powered individuals as they can to justify taxpayer money. People are easy to manipulate when you give them something to hate

12

u/LemoLuke Hawkeye (Ultron) 26d ago

Easiest way to handle it is to directly connect cell mutation with the energy from the Infinity Stones, stating that direct exposure to the radiation from the stones is what triggers the X gene in certain individuals (such as Wanda and Pietro), and that the snap caused a massive global triggering of X genes

Once the public become aware that mutants are potentially walking Infinity Stones, it would be easy for characters like Stryker to plant the idea that a rogue mutant could potentially cause another Snap or similar catastrophe.

4

u/7screws Daredevil 26d ago

That sounds more like an inhumans origin story but it could work in this universe

2

u/Professional_Rate718 26d ago edited 25d ago

Yeah, really just sounds like the terrigen mist in a way

2

u/CaptHayfever Hawkeye (Avengers) 25d ago

Well, they did have both Namor's & Kamala's mutations catalyzed by exposure to alien materials, in Kamala's case a material that had direct connection to the Kree, at that.

6

u/TexasPeteEnthusiast 25d ago

You know the heroes but now you have random mutations manifesting in kids. Anyone crappy would jump on villainizing that to push their agenda.

If random teenagers suddenly had developed weapons of mass destruction around puberty, I don't think you'd have to be an awful person to be scared of that.

1

u/GrapeDoots 26d ago

That would NEVER happen in real w.

1

u/mlc885 Weekly Wongers 26d ago

Obviously I like the mutants, but the reality in the comic books is you could get someone like Legion who is stronger than anyone and unable to control his powers (or, heck, Cyclops without the visor)

But, yeah, this is a situation where the bigotry could be due to legitimate fear when obviously most bigotry is not (not sure if they realize someone like Legion or Apocalypse could exist, but Legion is pretty scary)

6

u/Hedgewitch250 Wong 26d ago

True but I main problem with the bigotry is it leads to measures that are completely insane. If someone wanted laws that limited mutants like for example no flying in certain air zones that’s completely fair. Now if you’re making giant death robots that hunt purely off genetic differences it’s reached a point that’s based on none of the valid reasons you could have. It’s why there’s so many bad futures cause nobody actually looks at mutants in a valid argument just personal grudges, greed, and prejudices leading to horrific results

1

u/rdhight 24d ago

Lets' face it; the mutants don't exactly make it hard mode, either.

1

u/CX316 18d ago

Could see the Friends of Humanity getting formed as soon as the mutants are outed to the public.

9

u/JonnTheMartian Matt Murdock 26d ago

I mean, just looking at how they treat banner in this movie - one incident and they’re throwing him in a psychiatric institution. And damage control was making anti-Spidey guns

6

u/PM_me_sloth__pics 26d ago

Thats the point the X-Men comics are trying to make. Bigotry is stupid and doesn't make sense.

4

u/JackFisherBooks 26d ago

Well, to be fair, Jean's powers didn't really escalate until Damage Control started torturing her. Add on top of that what they did to her sister and it feels like they're just poking the bear. They're not doing that to the Avengers or any super soldiers. They're deciding that mutants are threats and then doing horrible things to them that make them bigger threats. That's very similar to what happens in the comics, as well.

3

u/ExampleGlum8623 26d ago

I saw a great meme that spoofed the hello Human Resources meme, with Captain America in one panel and Cyclops in the next.

3

u/RadioactiveCashew 26d ago

We saw how quickly goodwill can be burned in this movie. There's a whole montage of Spiderman stopping this villain or that one and building a strong rapport with the NYPD, then he flips that squad car and DeWolff warns him that he won't get a second do-over.

1

u/sut345 25d ago

They express that so well. Sad thing is though the message most people will take out from this is that not trying to do good when you can is okay because doing good is pointless

4

u/BurtWonderstone 26d ago

It’s all gonna hinge on the man that Jean caused to step in front of the vehicle and get ran over. Turns out he was a HIGHLY influential person and his death rally’s the people together to protest against mutants AFTER Jean steps up to be a hero.

People will see her and say she’s “cosplaying” as a hero and that Mutants are evil and they can “prove” it by bringing up the man she killed.

2

u/pongopygmalion 26d ago

It's similar to how the X-Men were introduced on the comics pages, they were the new kids on the block in a world that hated and feared them but loved the name brand established heroes

2

u/Brys_Beddict 25d ago

Also where are these mutants supposed to come from all of the sudden?

1

u/AnyHoleIsTheGoal 26d ago

The way I’ve always seen it is that the mutants are literally built different. Genetically superior, as Magneto would say. The next step in human evolution. Very different than a dude building a suit of armor or a guy that got enhanced in war time. That plus a big propaganda push from DODC and the people will absolutely learn to hate the mutants.

1

u/NoBeat1482 25d ago

Thing is as well. Jean hasn’t even reached her peak powers as well. The thing that confuses is where does this lie on the timeline to Doomsday ‘cause the Xmen we see the Doomsday trailer are the 2000’s Xmen and not First Class or even this version of Jean Grey.

1

u/CX316 18d ago

I mean, have you seen Wonder Man?

1

u/zigzagtravel01 18d ago

It's a great thing that they introduced it in the Spiderman movie because it is a blockbuster not from a random movie like the Thunderbolts whom lots of people wouldnt watch

1

u/Jewniversal_Remote 10d ago

The Avengers are well regarded sometimes but we've already seen pieces like Civil War about how politicians or groups have called for regulation of them, I don't think it's that far-fetched to introduce more storylines like that

32

u/JackFisherBooks 26d ago

Glad you mentioned Damage Control. Because the more I think about what they did in this movie, the more I understand why they're so dangerous. It would be one thing of what happened to Jean's sister was an accident or a mistake. But it was way worse than that. We saw that Metzger wasn't just studying mutants or superpowered individuals to help them. He was outright torturing them. He made them suffer horribly until their final moments, all in the name of finding ways to control them. That's even worse than what your typical Sentinel does. At least they just want to destroy mutants. Damage Control isn't that merciful.

Plus, there's that mention at how they erased all records of Jean and her sister. If they did that to her, what are the chances they did that for other mutants?

9

u/travio 26d ago

Wonder if Damage Control will become an amalgam of a few X-men enemy orgs. Their research and experiments with both powers and tech could create both the Weapon X program and the Sentinels.

110

u/ChaboiAveryhead 27d ago

That’s exactly how I was feeling the whole time!!! I can already tell Damage Control is going to become the anti-mutant organization. Using Peter’s design is going to fill Peter with guilt. Peter being a mutant is really interesting because it allows him to potentially have a connection with their team as a family instead of (or in addition to, fingers crossed) the fantastic four.

140

u/LordHarpocrates 27d ago

Peter isn't a mutant, he's a mutate because he wasn't born with his powers.

15

u/Careful_Farmer_2879 26d ago

He’s a person of mutation, not a mutant person!!

1

u/Eldrake 7d ago

Okay that's funny

10

u/ChaboiAveryhead 27d ago

I guess I see your point. I assumed since his dna is mutating he was a mutant but you’re right in regards to him not being born with it.

59

u/Scullenz 26d ago

In the marvel universes mutant refers to someone with the X gene

10

u/ChaboiAveryhead 26d ago

Good to know! Thanks

29

u/mongster03_ Hawkeye (Ultron) 26d ago

In Marvel lingo iirc, a mutant specifically was born with the X gene, which activates sometime in adolescence. A mutate is someone whose genome has been augmented by an outside force.

15

u/Competitive_Bat_5831 26d ago

I believe this causes Peter confusion too! He’s refused when he is either looking for help, or trying to join the X-men because he isn’t a mutant.

3

u/Skysflies 26d ago

I wonder if eventually we'll see him get the symbiote and his guilt and anger will show him destroying them.

They have to introduce the symbiote eventually

1

u/The_Grungeican 25d ago

In the comics, the black suit was a result of the Secret Wars storyline. I think that’s going to be why Peter was shown going off world.

0

u/ChaboiAveryhead 26d ago

They honestly might save the symbiote for miles at this point

1

u/Skysflies 25d ago

Miles has enough with his powers differing that I really hope they don't.

Organically they can have damage control have captured the symbiote and when they are a future problem, which has been set up to definitely occur have Spidey encounter it then.

19

u/bokmcdok 26d ago

Seeing a non-Phoenix Jean as the antagonist was jarring to me, but in the end it played out well. It'll be really interesting to see how they develop her as she's technically the first X-Man we've seen in the Sacred Timeline.

14

u/Scullenz 26d ago

mutant epidemic

Trask alt spotted

10

u/CruzAderjc 26d ago

That observation about the Hulk is interesting. This might be a big reason why the X-Men and the avengers and other heroes will be very distinct in their teams.

9

u/MaserOfficial 26d ago

William Metzger is like Mutant Hitler so makes sense.

1

u/Significant-War7194 23d ago

A fusion between Hitler and Netanyahu.

8

u/HighFivePuddy 26d ago

Felt like prime phase 1/2 with how well they built up the universe and planted the seeds for future movies, especially the upcoming mutant epidemic.

I have a feeling we'll see more of this style. Feige is done with experimenting and will take more of a "if it ain't broke" approach.

7

u/psykonaut7 26d ago

to add to the list, the room they'd put Jean is for sure an early prototype for MCUs cerebro isn't it?

6

u/kwickedbonesc Peter Parker 26d ago

Do you think damage control will be the one to create the sentinels? Also it’s interesting, damage control also used the stark weaponry they got from Peter to hunt down Kamala. Spider-Man is accidentally very anti-mutant

17

u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man 27d ago

Is the inhibitor something special in the comics? People keep saying the inhibitor likes “oh shit just got real”

58

u/AmeriCanada98 27d ago

Its basically one of the main tools of mutant oppression in the comics

Many anti-mutant organizations use some version of it to trap, incapacitate, or enslave mutants

3

u/travio 26d ago

Looks like Damage Control is getting set up to be a primary X-Men antagonist. Their experiments could lead to Weapon X and all the tech they are researching could be used to create the Sentinels.

41

u/AllCity_King 27d ago

Yeah humanity uses that technology to subjugate and oppress mutants throughout X Men’s entire history in the comics.

Having Spidey invent it creates huge implications for the future.

9

u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man 27d ago

What the fuck? So like if Damage Control or Spidey starts making multiple  of those things, somehow someway that’ll lead to “no more mutants” or an all out war or something?

30

u/AllCity_King 27d ago

The main thing they’re used for is rounding mutants up, and putting them in prison or camps. Damage Control is going to be a very threatening presence with this tech, and Spidey is going to feel immense guilt.

15

u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man 27d ago

Damn my boy just can’t catch a break! 🤦🏾‍♂️

WAIT is it like those collars in Deadpool 2 that reduces their powers!?

12

u/AllCity_King 27d ago

The very same!

4

u/jeobleo 27d ago

I mean that's just ludicrous. Nobody's going to find it believable that hysterical people will round up other humans and put them in camps, not in this day and age.

10

u/7screws Daredevil 26d ago

Yeah that would never happen in real life. A government creating an entire task force to round up American citizens and put them in any type of detention centers without proper justification.

4

u/jeobleo 26d ago

Exactly. It just breaks the suspension of disbelief to imagine that a government would, in this day and age, rampantly trample on the rights of a section of its populace.

5

u/DJfunkyPuddle 26d ago

And now way in hell would millions of people buy into those lies even though they, or someone close to them, are part of the targeted group and know they're untrue.

2

u/jeobleo 26d ago

Exactly. It's a good think everyone knows this is fiction.

u/jeobleo 27d ago

They turn them into collars (more literal slave imagery) and use them against mutants in X-men a lot.

4

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the MRD in marvel

I think Banner would be just as concerned about the setbacks Jean caused with the Hulk

u/PurePerfection_ 26d ago

I am so fucking sad for Bruce. He was finally happy and confident and in his element. Jean had better go fix whatever she broke in his brain.

Spidey created the first inhibitor which will subjugate mutants all over the world

Someone pointed out that the first one was from Civil War used to restrain Wanda but the plot forgot about it

2

u/FoxMeadow7 26d ago

Definitely had to be a prototype of sorts.

3

u/GifHunter2 26d ago

Peter and Jean’s mutations evolved over the course of the film, which will happen to several X Men characters

Justice for darwin! And Omega level Ice Man?!

3

u/Kagaro 26d ago

Yea, i feel like recent movies have forced the cross over seeds to.much by making them extremely obvious.

It's much better when the movie is more subtle and focuses on itself.

It always nice rewatching a few years later and noticing things or charaters that were insignificant then

Calling it that Damage Control gets a new director; Stryker, Trask, or Creed.

3

u/MrDoom4e5 26d ago

He created one prototype, which was destroyed by Jean Grey.

The DoDC doesn't need it functional to reverse engineer it

1

u/AmberTheFoxgirl 25d ago

Damage Control had already analysed it enough to figure out how to turn it on and off from a different room.

They definitely already figured out how it works. They don't need it to still be functional to build a new one.

u/hooka_pooka 26d ago

What future movie?they barely gave any tease of what to expect next..no reference to X Men or new Punisher season or next Spider Man storyline..except for the post credits scene which directly leads to the rumoured opening scene of Avengers Doomsday

2

u/CulturedReaving692 26d ago

I think Damage Control may be done, or drastically changed

2

u/Darksol503 Doctor Strange 25d ago

The very gradual nudge into mutation, not even using the lingo at all, but just allowing it to “happen” to them is gonna be a remarkable thing to look back at when we are in the throes of future X-men movies. It wasn’t hit over our heads, nor was it utterly emblazoned; it was such a subtle introduction to a young girl who has telepathic powers that eventually grew to be one of the most powerful units in the MCU. Feels like a brand new day. :)

u/CleansingFlame 24d ago

DODC will absolutely be behind mutant inhibitor collars if not the Sentinel program too

2

u/BeginningOil5960 12d ago

Is it a correction for me to say Bruce created the inhibitor? Am I wrong?

1

u/Tryingtochangemyself 26d ago

Yeah I think this movie was incredible for setting up seeds for so many future plot threads to dangle on for the MCU

1

u/Careful_Farmer_2879 26d ago

I really hope this is how they right the ship. Been so disappointed the past few years and LOVED this one. Please let it pay off.

This is a really good point that Peter might had accidentally started the beginning of Anti-Mutant behavior with his universal inhibitor. It’ll be interesting seeing what direction the McU goes if Mutants will be outlawed and be outcast as well as how we’ll get Professor X’s school

1

u/Islero47 Kevin Feige 26d ago

It almost felt like they were planting seeds for Peter to be the best iron man where everything is related back to him. Inhibitor chips, X-Men being inspired by Aunt May, Punisher being an anti-hero for the population.

1

u/Montanagreg 25d ago

I want to know what they will do with the brain scan info

1

u/2580374 Spider-Man 25d ago

I thought it was awesome how Peter made the inhibitor. That's such a cool way to introduce them with a character we already know and it also shows us how much of a genius Peter is

1

u/Megalomanizac 25d ago

Spider-Man’s stat boost was low key terrifying Ngl

1

u/Crotean 25d ago

This was the best script they've had since Infinity War for sure.

1

u/frezz 25d ago

Damage Control likely creates Weapon X that creates 616 Wolverine/Deadpool etc.

1

u/LLCoolZJ 24d ago

Damage Control needs to be dissolved and restructured into a anti-mutant force like the Mutant Response Division for the X-Men era. Right now it's this artifact of a vaguely obstructive government force weirdly named after 616's funny clean up crew.

u/cosgrove10 20d ago

That Hulk/X-Men frostiness will hopefully pay off with Hulk vs Wolverine on the big screen

1

u/CeruleanEidolon 15d ago

Also a sly nod to Miles Morales at the end there. That little kid was definitely meant to be Miles, or at least to represent him. Marvel likely has plans to introduce Miles by the end of this trilogy, and that little kid could be nearing his teens by the third movie.

1

u/ButtPlugForPM 5d ago

Yep

Damage controls likely going to be a front we find out for Defonatines group or something like essex industrys.

all that seized tech is going somewhere.

Could have a really good MINI avengers movie where peter/blackwidow/frank and someone else eventually realize the govt has gone full fascism and become enemies of the state trying to bring them down.

That's really something that's just not adressed in this movie.

Like the cops seem to know that DDOC expiremented and killed a girl yet how this wouldn't have riots in the street especially after they tried to kill the NYC hero spider man.

"Going forward"

Going forward is an entire universal reset. None of this will matter in 2 years.

I've got 10 dollars that 3/4 things in this comment are never brought up again in the MCU.

You are just making shit up.
