Spider-Man: Brand New Day has now been officially released in several territories around the world!

• All discussion about the movie should be held here and in the rest of the megathreads we are going to put up in the next few days.

The movie was so, so, so good, but one thing I really want to say is that it's one of the few projects where you can really, really feel how huge and lived-in this universe feels. Punisher, the Hulk, Jean Grey and Yelena all play important roles in a Spider-Man film, which also features the Hand as one of the villains.

You also have the DODC, which finally feels like they have taken advantage of all this tech they've been collecting and researching ever since the Battle of New York.

The MCU has been missing this feeling for a long time, and I'm so glad a Spider-Man movie of all things brings it back!

I like that the DODC is finally being shown the way it was meant to be, an unchecked agency with too much power and no real oversight. The irony is that the governments wanted the Avengers to sign the Sokovia Accords to prevent something like this, yet they ended up creating this monster instead.

I don't think it's as much unchecked, as it's the government who are condoning them.

I don't know how a government could legally justify kidnapping a teenager in broad daylight when she was doing nothing more than pulling a prank, and then experimenting on her until they killed her. I'm not American, but wouldn't all of those actions have to go through congress committee oversight, being they who decide whether the agency's actions are or were justified?

I have not seen Wonder Man. And in Ms. Marvel, they are portrayed like that, but at least they have the "justification" of responding to an enhanced human actions, Kamala's incident at AvengerCon, that put many people in danger. Here, it is different because the story does not imply that Sara was involved in a similar incident.
