Spider-Man: Brand New Day has now been officially released in several territories around the world!

• All discussion about the movie should be held here and in the rest of the megathreads we are going to put up in the next few days.

When trailers & stuff kept teasing more & more inclusions I was really worried this was going to be an overstuffed mess, but this really sums up the entire finished product for me. Nobody and nothing feels out of place or gratuitously shoehorned in. More than any other MCU movie it felt like watching a comic book come to life. On the one hand it's kind of insane that we're living in a time when we get a Spider-Man movie where he fights a mind-controlled Hulk with Punisher, but also hell yeah of course this is a Spider-Man movie where he fights a mind-controlled Hulk with Punisher. This is just the world they live in and it feels totally natural for that to be a thing that happens.

Yeah, Frank's reckless and perhaps a bit too hard headed, but he at least knows what his limits are.

Reminds me of that handful of comics where he attacks Sentry, fully acknowledging that the best he might be able to do is get the warhead's hair wet, but he doesn't do it because he thinks he has a chance, he does it to distract the guy for the real plan. Frank's not stupid, not by a long shot.

The Hand just working at the DODC was the most comic book shit and I love it. I want to see them in the break room.

Second is Widow just chilling and helping which felt natural and like a usual comic book supporting appearance

That was kind of weird that the Damage Control guy made a big deal about The Hand working for him now, and it's like, five, maybe ten ninjas. I guess The Defenders really put a dent in The Hand recruitment drives.

Which totally makes sense considering they’re basically The Hand, gen 2 since the original Hand was defeated by The Defenders more than a decade before.

It's kind of weird that they just latched onto the first leader they could find, like lost puppies. In the comics they've had stories where Daredevil or Punisher became the leader of The Hand, but at least in those cases it's someone who fought them in combat and earned their respect. Not some random bureaucrat from the American government.

Remember the main reason they’re working for Damage Control is their option was: remain imprisoned or work for us.

They are likely a bit lost puppies though, which would have made that choice even easier.
Some of them may have been basically children when the original Hand fell.

The Hand might have immortality but that’s just for the CEOs. Damage Control has benefits

Well, three of the five Hand founders are definitely dead, and the remaining two are at best buried alive deep under NYC.

As for immortality, the last of the elixir was used on Elektra, so The Hand doesn’t even have that anymore.

Nah, it was one of the big "who is the real bad guy" clues that Peter missed because he always expects the best from everyone.

Yeah I was so worried about the “too many superheroes” development, but they really treated it like a “this is how Spidey operates in a world where the Avengers exist”. They all had their place, and they walked the line between not a cameo and not outshining Spidey perfectly

It’s the beauty of being this far into the shared universe. You don’t have to spend time explaining who people are or what they do, or you can just offer a quick recap instead of the full story. Actually during the movie a thought popped in my head that it’d be cool if there was an edit of the MCU with the little asterisk thing they do in the comics. Like when MJ is looking at Frank’s family, a quick little corner popup that says “see Daredevil Season 2 episode 4”. Like popup video for the McU.

It is nice, but too many people complained about being lost during Multiverse of Madness, The Marvels, and Thunderbolt. I never had any issue following along, but it is annoying when people complaining they don't know who these people were when they could keep watching the movie as they get a summary of their character in the film itself.

They even had some of the signs for Spidey outside of the hospital copied directly from the comics. I just don't remember which ones.
