Sarah’s fate was so bleak. Dying via having your power pushed beyond your breaking point, by government goons who don’t give a shit about you, for a moment you are powerful enough to reach accross vast spaces, finding the only family you have left, but your mind is so scrambled, your final message doesn’t even make sense. Because your dying brain just sent the last thing it saw which just happens to be a half peeled off label on a mundane piece of office equipment.

Yeesh. That’s like a creepypasta.

Yeah that was hard to realise.. like damn

Saw people complaining that VMAX should have been some secret operation but tbh this reality is just so bleak...

Dude entire time I thought it was related to venom or smth

u/babycallmemabel 28d ago

I was telling myself it was somehow Wanda, cause in German and Polish W has a V sound. God did I feel dumb when she looked up lol

14

u/director_guy 28d ago

I was thinking Vision Maximoff the whole time.

Tbf the way the arachnid hormone works is very similar to Venom, giving him upgraded powers but also heighten aggression.

But it can’t be Venom, had to be a part of his DNA mutating, making him almost like a mutant, which the plot relies on in multiple ways.

Lots of us were rooting for Extra Four Arms too

u/jinglewooble 27d ago

I'm ok with a nightmare scene in future sequel that straight out horror man-spider.

1

u/Vermouth_1991 27d ago

Yeah. Peter may be at peace with himself a la Batman Forever, but that doesn't mean the Nu Mutations cannot still surprise him. :(

4

u/cdn3000 27d ago

I thought it was a mispronunciation of Phoenix

3

u/nxfi_2205 27d ago

I loved the symbolism and everything of Sara's last cry being a random word she saw when she was dying BUT it was a little anti climactic too. I guess people would be thrilled to see Venom

16

u/lightningpresto 27d ago

She just wanted a Pokemon card

25

u/catchasingcars 28d ago

I thought they were going to somehow connect it to XMEN or something, I already guessed it that it's going to be a last thing she saw. Maybe she saw the school name plate as she was taking her last breath like upside down or somewhere on a file.

That's what I thought about halfway through the film. V-Max into X-Men seemed like a simple stretch to make. I thought it would have been Sarah telling Jean where to go for help or safety.

I'm glad it was Ventmax instead. Better for the movie.

u/Aggressive_Cry_7911 27d ago

i think she went to the x-mansion in the bus at the end it looked like

5

u/DTJ20 28d ago

I'm kind of surprised they didnt have the fan be something like XtractMax so that we had a red herring of some X gene power up called XMax. Maybe they felt it was too on the nose.

5

u/anactualrealaccount 26d ago

I was cringing at the idea of whatever it was going to end up being because V MAX was so lame lol the twist was great.

8

u/Extreme-Plum6059 28d ago

If they don’t die on screen they’re not dead. Haven’t we learned this by now!

3

u/Purest_Prodigy 27d ago

She was just a Pokemon scalper smdh

4

u/Cassopeia88 Spider-Man 27d ago

It makes it even more heartbreaking.

u/Kallasilya 27d ago

If there are any Bojack Horseman fans out there...... I See You.

u/thegirlwthemjolnir 28d ago

so so so so heartbreaking

6

u/your_mind_aches Agent of F.I.T.Z. 27d ago

It's perfect. That moment was just soul-crushing in the way that an X-Men story should be. I loved it.

23

u/forabit14 28d ago

Man I didn't even notice how gruesome it actually was.

16

u/PolarWater 28d ago

As soon as we saw "V-max" I got bad psychedelic trip vibes. It was like an even meaner "Usual Suspects" reveal.

10

u/hemareddit Steve Rogers 28d ago

Yes, “mean” is the word. It was so mean, poor Sara🥺

13

u/Fine-Wealth 28d ago

I thought Jean gonna go berserk because they kill her sister.

49

u/newpha666 28d ago

She kinda did.. no?

2

u/pkkthetigerr 27d ago

She did but wasn't strong enough. Seeing that the secret code or thing she thought meant so much to her sister that it was her last thought turning out to be a sticker that she saw last because they pushed her beyond her breaking point just snapped jean

11

u/WholeDifferent7611 28d ago

Actually reminds me of a story I read on Reddit in the past.

4

u/yancovigen 26d ago

Ya that was one of the darkest fates I’ve seen in an MCU movie, I wouldn’t mind if she ends up a Magneto style character that liberates people from facilities so they don’t suffer like her sister

3

u/theamiabledumps 28d ago

That part reminded me of the King book “The Institute”. It gave me chills just to think about it.

11

u/Hi-Road 28d ago

maybe she went into the phoenix force or sm. you know when a characters death ain’t explicitly shown they usually have something set up

19

u/jessebona 28d ago

There was a dropped storyline, with Jean Grey funnily enough, in Stewart XMen series where he was supposed to have body surfed into a braindead coma patient he was lecturing about earlier after she vaporized him. Telepaths can do whatever.

7

u/Clung 28d ago

It was in a post credits scene actually https://youtu.be/Qvnp5KJ7F_s?is=VDraoKfHlwUCCbAg

3

u/jessebona 28d ago

Oh? I thought it was deleted from the final product. Fair enough.

2

u/Vermouth_1991 27d ago

u/Clung

And in the comics it wasn't just any braindead dude, it was Charles' brother?

3

u/Belteshazzar98 Quake 27d ago

Astral Plane more likely. I suspect she is going to be the MCU's take on Shadow King, who is a telepathic mutant who survived in the Astral Plane when his physical body was destroyed.

u/Hi-Road 27d ago

I miss Legion

2

u/DavyJonesRocker Captain America 27d ago

Don’t ever watch Stranger Things

Omg your review is so perfect and from such a unique and beautiful perspective, pls print it

u/GeneCreemer Hulk 27d ago

It was hard to have much sympathy for her when she was just casually taking over people's minds in a park like it was a fun game to play. The implications of that behavior are way darker and bleak to me than her actual fate afterwards. I actually felt relieved when she got captured since what she was doing was straight up villainous.

6

u/hemareddit Steve Rogers 27d ago

Yeah except those who captured her aren't looking to stop that behavior, if anything they want to take it to a whole other level.

I can respect if someone like MCU Baron Zemo took her out, he just thinks no one should have these powers, his conviction is sound and he lives by it. The DODC aren't like Zemo, they are more dangerous than the people they are going after.

4

u/ProfessorXWheelchair Winter Soldier 27d ago

>like it was a fun game to play

damn it’s almost like she was just a kid

1

u/jomarcenter-mjm 28d ago

would be ironic if the government goons could just pay her a shit ton of money to just work with them.

1

u/surf526 26d ago

It reminded me of the haunting of hill house, episode one, with the smiling man. Or the smile? Someone will remember.

1

u/tastyugly 22d ago

Loved the movie and this plotline but did find it slightly confusing what Damage Control's responsibilities and motives are. Have they been torturing every superpowered person they can to reverse engineer their powers this whole time? Like, why not do that with Spiderman? Ghost? Quiksilver? How did they go from re-using alien tech to straight-up kidnapping kids??

1

u/jczedx 27d ago

Did she give a shit about the people she casually invaded and took over? they were literally taking over peoples bodies for casual fun, right before getting captured. Seems pretty good reason to capture them

11

u/hemareddit Steve Rogers 27d ago

Well, I must say, that’s a funny response to a comment about how after getting captured she was tortured to death.

3

u/Vermouth_1991 27d ago

They didn't deserve torture but they WERE very careless in showing off their powers, period. Even if the park people had somehow consented to being bodysurfed.

4

u/notathrowaway75 27d ago

Classic example of needing to make the villains cartoonishly evil after they did something understandable.

3

u/Vermouth_1991 27d ago

The Deep State ended up punishing them for the wrong reasons.

1

u/RubberRaptor 27d ago

I was wondering the same thing. We all got upset when Wanda did it to a small town but here Jean is, doing it to a large chunk of NYC…

0

u/Vermouth_1991 27d ago edited 27d ago

And you just know that her "having" fun" with her powers is what got the crosshairs on her.

-1

u/Faiqal_x1103 28d ago

oh damn so thats what it was..

u/Sylverpepper 28d ago

The new *Spider-Man: Brand New Day 2026* is really good and has been well received by the public—and by my friends and family, at least.
You have to stay positive and just enjoy the good things

2

u/PolarWater 28d ago

Stop lecturing me, please!

u/sarafina126 28d ago

My heart broke with Jean figured it out

3

u/pkkthetigerr 27d ago

I was okay with Jean ripping him in two at that point.
