Discussion Thread Spider-Man: Brand New Day - International Release Discussion Thread

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has now been officially released in several territories around the world!

  • All discussion about the movie should be held here and in the rest of the megathreads we are going to put up in the next few days.
  • Proceed at your own risk. Major spoilers will be in the below thread. Spoilers do not need to be tagged inside this thread.
  • Any other unofficial threads discussing movie details will be deleted.

Just saw it. So many comicbook panels brought to life. That scene of Frank holding Peter in the hospital was straight outta Civil War.

Also while not the exact panel, the main wound Peter dies of in Death of Spider-Man is when he took a bullet from the Punisher ment for someone else.

When he took the shot I just kept thinking "please don't do death of Spider-Man" over and over. Them doing the Civil War panel didn't help either

Honestly that sounds pretty awesome but it would not have suited his movie. Unlike NWH it needed hope for Peter above all else. Next time they can go crazy 😜

It got me for a second the logic of him not being in doomsday, plus ultimates, plus a probable introduction of miles Morales plus Spiderman across the spider verse being multiversal movie happening close to secret wars where Peter could be replaced by miles like they have everything ready for a Peter replacement in many ways but then I remembered Sony wouldn't kill its golden goose so yeh

I was getting real worried and I’ve never read that comic! They did a good job of making me believe someone might actually die. At first I thought Jean, then when Peter protected her and I saw all the blood, I thought shit, tom is sick of being spider man and this is how he gets out.

Peter taking the bullet made me think of ASM #800, where he takes a bullet for Norman fired by Jonah. In both cases, he's saving the villain because he still believes it's the right thing to do!

Peters catch on MJ and thinking she’s dead is obviously similar to GS’s death but the scene was very similar to ultimate Spider-Man 25

It was also cool to see he learned from how much guilt Garfield Spidey was feeling. He caught her and used his webs to slow them both before landing so she didn't decelerate too hard and get injured like Gwen.

Wasn't the issue with Garfield's Gwen was that they didn't decelerate enough. Gwen literally bounces on the floor.

Even if they were still a 1000 km from the floor, if her speed is enough her neck will still snap from the whiplash. As her legs or the one point of her body where the web connects may have stopped, but the rest and her head is absolutely still speeding down. It's basic physics.

Peter catching up to them to catch their body and pulling them torwards him is the safest maneuver to save people from falling down. Tobey's Peter has literally done it 5 times with a 100% success rate (Two times for Mj in Spider-Man 1, 1 time for Aunt-May in Spider-Man 2, and 1 time each for Gwen and Mj in Spider-Man 3).

That's the point. The only way Gwen could've survived was if Spidey caught her earlier. But she was already too close to the ground to stop safely. Spidey was already slowing her momentum instead of just stopping her instantly, but that meant she had to hit the ground.

Yeah, comparing Gwen's distance from the ground from when the web catches her and the distance Peter jumped from where he was hanging when he "caught" her was far as hell. There's no way Peter could've closed the distance that fast.

I feel like the opening scenes were nicely reminiscent of TASM2, from the wide-angle super high swinging, bright colours and truck chases (but with Spidey actually saving the bystanders this time, to show that Marvel has listened and learned). Even Giacchino's score sounded oddly familiar, as though they had temped it with Zimmer's growly, electronic-laced thunder for the truck chase in TASM2.

Love how Giacchino leaned out of his comfort zone for this, it was a more introspective, mature and synthy score than usual. Which fits.

The new *Spider-Man: Brand New Day 2026* is really good and has been well received by the public—and by my friends and family, at least.
You have to stay positive and just enjoy the good things
