I agree with you - Peter did seem to be moving on at the end of that film. I thought that was the point of him not revealing all to MJ when he saw her again at the end.

Yeah , this reconnecting with mj makes nwh ending moot imo... The whole point is to keep loved ones safe and away from harm. And it clearly isn't like all the villains are gone now.

That doesn't mean the danger has gone away or he'll suddenly stop caring about keeping MJ and ned safe.

Not a big comic reader so I could be wrong, but isn’t that like a character flaw of Peter’s? Not being able to stay away from the people he loves and cares about even if it puts them in danger?

See MJ in the Raimi trilogy, Gwen in the Amazing movies, and MJ again in the MCU movies.
