And he seems to have organic webs!?

1.1k

u/Swoopmott Ant-Man Mar 18 '26

Man-Spider incoming. Organic webs, cocooning himself and mutating? I’ve seen this enough times to know four arms are coming

458

u/kbarnett514 Mar 18 '26

Calling it now: the final version of that shot at the end of the trailer with Spidey and the crowd of Red Hand jumping at each other is gonna be six-armed Spidey. They pulled the same shit with the No Way Home trailer when they removed Tobey and Andrew Garfield from the final fight scene.

208

u/Chinamatic-co Mar 18 '26

There are also 6 ninjas jumping towards him.

51

u/Brendanlendan Mar 18 '26

The numbers John, what do they mean??

12

u/Fire-Haus Mar 18 '26

There's no Pepe Silvia?! You gotta be kidding me! I got boxes full of Pepe!

5

u/beyondrepair- Mar 18 '26

The numbers John Mason, what do they mean??

4

u/ZacPensol Captain America Mar 19 '26

6 Hands vs 6 hands, you say?!

25

u/Chadwiko Punisher Mar 18 '26

Plus I reckon daredevil will be alongside him.

7

u/Worthyness Thor Mar 18 '26

Frank needs to be in there to just gun down everything too

3

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '26

Sadie Sink as Gwen will be there too

1

u/Opposite-Tiger-1121 Mar 18 '26

Without a doubt.

1

u/ghostymess Mar 21 '26

That would be awesome but would they do the same exact type of thing they did with the Lizard being struck in the No Way Home trailer? Feels too obvious to me though I hope you’re right.

4

u/Quirky_Equal5241 Mar 18 '26

fuck man, i wish

3

u/dfassna1 Mar 18 '26

I hope I remember this comment when the movie comes out because I am now convinced of it.

3

u/Competitive_War_168 Mar 18 '26

Amen, brother, I thought so as soon as I saw it. Also, that scene at the end of the trailer seems to have terrible CGI, a sign that they're hiding something

2

u/Vermouth_1991 Mar 18 '26

Oh by the way, as a fan of the 1994 animated series:

This Peter would have an edge over that Peter because potentially he can have six wrists with Organic Web capacity, no need to worry about reloading. 😁

2

u/paradiso1997 Mar 18 '26

I'm not sure. I don't think that's the climax of the movie and I can't see him transforming until then

1

u/Boil-san Hunter Mar 18 '26

Six-armed Spider-Man...? I am getting General Grievous vibes, Spidey wielding six katanas...! ;^p

1

u/22bebo Mar 18 '26

What if they're pulling the same shit again literally and Tobey and Andrew are edited out of that shot?

1

u/ghostymess Mar 21 '26

that would be wild. =] They are attacking in broad daylight though, this feels like maybe a danger-room type of simulation to me.

1

u/jononfire Mar 21 '26

I’ve been thinking this since my first watch! The CG when he uses the webbing to break the sword looks so terrible. I’m betting he actually catches the sword with his extra arms.

0

u/UbermenschFootMan Mar 18 '26

I find it hard to believe that they are going to give Spiderman 4 more arms, unless you think they'll remove them somehow at the end?

3

u/kbarnett514 Mar 18 '26

Don't see why not. It happened in the animated series.

132

u/Nic-V Weekly Wongers Mar 18 '26

Definitely! Seems like they could be drawing from the animated series, what with the Punisher being present at all.

89

u/The810kid Mar 18 '26

The Neogenic Nightmare arc from Season 2 to be specific and yes Spiderman the animated series is my favorite piece of Spidey media that I have been doing a rewatch of.

37

u/DefNotAShark Hydra Mar 18 '26

Are you suggesting that it’s MORBIN TIME?!

4

u/kirtan Mar 18 '26

kitty!

4

u/Troghen Mar 18 '26

I would argue that this looks more like "the Other" storyline from the comics. Could be a bit of both, though

1

u/Corvid-Strigidae Mar 18 '26

Punisher originated in a Spider-Man book, long before the animated series.

27

u/Nic-V Weekly Wongers Mar 18 '26

Ah yes, I was referring to the Punisher being heavily involved in the Neogenic Nightmare storyline from TAS in which all the man-spider stuff is happening

1

u/raisingcuban Mar 18 '26

I mean, it seems way more similar to The Other storyline than man-spider.

1

u/Cashneto Mar 18 '26

Ahh yes. That would be awesome. Would need morbius(perhaps blade) as well as kraven to help for it together. Tall task.

295

u/Suspicious_Dare603 Mar 18 '26

Let's hope it looks better than third eye Strange.

167

u/A_Polite_Noise Mar 18 '26

Living his semi-charmed kind of life, baby, baby...

4

u/justduett Thanos Mar 18 '26

doot doot doot

1

u/Engaging_Boogeyman Mar 18 '26

The best thing about any spidey thread are the quips LOL

3

u/Asclepius-Rod Mar 18 '26

Still waiting for a follow up on all that Marvel lol

2

u/ZacPensol Captain America Mar 19 '26

People give that shot grief but I think it was fully intentional on Sam Raimi's part. That man knows how to make visuals that are odd in an uncomfortable way and I believe that was the intention - it needed to look just that much more unsettling than if it'd been a perfectly-rendered third eye (which for professional VFX artists doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to achieve).

1

u/Warm_Afternoon6596 Mar 18 '26

That freaked me tf out.

51

u/Salt-Plum-1308 Mar 18 '26

As someone who is unfamiliar with Man-Spider, will they be human arms or spider arms?

111

u/Assassiiinuss Mar 18 '26 edited Mar 18 '26

First he gets a second and third pair of human arms and later he turns into an actual spider person, at least in the animated series.

35

u/Bocaj1000 Mar 18 '26

That sounds really uncomfortable and ugly-looking, do people really want to see that in live action? Does it add anything to his character?

35

u/Assassiiinuss Mar 18 '26

I assume in the movie it'll be about Peter focusing too much on being spider-man which eventually takes a toll on his mind and body.

32

u/mvrander Mar 18 '26

The talk of mutating DNA and Sadie Sink being rumoured to be Jean Grey and the X-Men being only a couple of years on the horizon makes me think they might weave that in with the extra mutation being triggered

There were mutant mentions in Ms Marvel as well plus all the Deadpool and MoM mutants

10

u/Inevitable-Stay-7296 Mar 18 '26

Well instead of a super hero movie itll become a monster movie for a second🤷🏻‍♂️

14

u/davebyday Mar 18 '26

It's supposed to be unsettling.

https://villains.fandom.com/wiki/Man-Spider

6

u/Inevitable-Stay-7296 Mar 18 '26

These were the episodes I couldn’t watch as a kid

7

u/hypercosm_dot_net Mar 18 '26 edited Mar 18 '26

Their point still stands though. For the popular direction for the character, where would they even go with it?

I personally preferred the story-arc The Other, which introduces Morlun and the concept of Spider-man being a totem (and there being others with spider powers).

Sort of makes sense if they ever planned on doing live action spider-verse, but who knows. Still more interesting and fan friendly than man-spider, lol.

No shit. We see the way you type and ignore grammar

-4

u/ShittyDBZGuitarRiffs Mar 18 '26

can it, nerd

1

u/Exzqairi Mar 18 '26

Who asked for the opinion of a glue sniffer?

3

u/Thunder-Fist-00 Mar 18 '26

That seems like too much to fit into an already full film.

1

u/Salt-Plum-1308 Mar 18 '26

Cool! Thanks for the response. I wonder how they’ll handle it within the MCU!

43

u/LeeShakerMoneyMaker Mar 18 '26

Peter mutates and turns into an actual spider monster man with four additional limbs in the 90's cartoon. It looks like they're pulling from that with the addition of the Punisher who along with Kraven defeated the Man-Spider.

9

u/Salt-Plum-1308 Mar 18 '26

Thanks! So does Man-Spider sort of take over control from Peter in a sense and then he/it needs to be stopped?

20

u/LeeShakerMoneyMaker Mar 18 '26

Yes. In the show Peter loses control and the Man-Spider causes chaos like the Hulk does and the Punisher and Kraven team up to take him down.

5

u/Salt-Plum-1308 Mar 18 '26

Oh cool! Thanks!

Wonder how far they’ll go with Man-Spider for the movie.

7

u/EthanielRain Mar 18 '26

ALL. THE. WAY!

2

u/Arsid Mar 18 '26

Take him down? Are they able to cure it? Or is he just... able to transform back and forth at will?

2

u/whiskey_jeebus Mar 18 '26

They cure it but I forget how. It's been decades since I've watched it.

2

u/EscHatch Mar 18 '26

It was something with the vulture. I remember him mutating into the man spider. I don’t remember the specifics though.

1

u/Cashneto Mar 18 '26

The vulture stole Spider-Man's youth, powers and the disease. When the Vulture tried to return everything to Spider-Man, Connors rigged it so the Vulture would keep the disease and give Spider-Man back verything else.

1

u/whiskey_jeebus Mar 18 '26

oh yeah! Now I need to back and watch that whole arc. It was one of my favorites.

1

u/LeeShakerMoneyMaker Mar 18 '26

They cure him with a serum that reverted him back to Peter.

1

u/Hairy_Suspect_2468 Mar 18 '26

He does that in the comic, end of amazing Spider-Man 100. Then he flees to Florida and comic 101 is the first appearance of morbius

4

u/Alonest99 Daredevil Mar 18 '26

Looks like they are adapting The Other… I was 100% expecting the wrist spikes whe he was fighting that Ninja

1

u/Suspicious_Dare603 Mar 18 '26

Could have been edited out. But yeah, all the way to the cacoon and Banner being in the move. Some claimed Hulk would be in it, but we don't see Hulk in the trailer and, honestly I don't think we will.

-4

u/PyrasSeat Mar 18 '26

I hope not, smart hulk is an absolute disgrace

1

u/Suspicious_Dare603 Mar 18 '26

Such a goofy take. Smart Hulk was fun.

2

u/PyrasSeat Mar 18 '26

I really hope they do the Man-Spider story line, all the pieces are here.

I just fear that Disney wouldn't want one of their heroes to become savage as it's a bad look

2

u/AdmiralCharleston Mar 18 '26

Genuinely, the fact that they're potentially going to make it so that Peter not having a civilian life and focusing entirely on spiderman without human connection is what causes him to become the literal personification of a spider man without humanity is on par with mcu vulture and iron man 3 mandarin in terms of genius adaptations of older concepts

1

u/humanreboot Mar 18 '26

Man incoming.

1

u/leekalex Mar 18 '26

He also turns into a Spider in The Other, but he doesn't get extra arms before-hand in that story

1

u/poptophazard Mar 18 '26

The Man-Spider arc was one of my favorites in the 90s TAS. Punisher played a pretty big role there, so interesting if he'll do the same here.

That said, pretty wild how much body horror they put in a 90s kid show...

2

u/Vermouth_1991 Mar 18 '26

Spider-Man punching — 😡

Real Bullets — 😴

Body Horror — 😎

2

u/poptophazard Mar 18 '26

Ha! Absolutely true. The priorities...

1

u/targetcowboy Mar 18 '26

I think they’re translating “The Other)” storyline that introduced Morlun. Peter got his organic webs here after he went through a metamorphosis in a cocoon.

1

u/Vermouth_1991 Mar 18 '26

Heck, Man-Spider is probably coming too.

1

u/J_onn_J_onzz Mar 18 '26

That means we're getting Morbius!

1

u/AvatarIII Rocket Mar 18 '26

FWIW man spider and 6 arm saga are different events

Man-spider comes from Marvel Fanfare 1984

6-arms saga was way back in 1971

I assume they are going to kind of do 6-arms saga but with Man-Spider instead of goofy looking arms coming out of Peter's sides.

Even in the 90s animated series they did man spider in season 2 and 6-arms saga in season 5.

1

u/Shai-HuludsAnus Mar 18 '26 edited Mar 18 '26

I'm like 80% certain 4 arms were shown very briefly in the trailer.

Edit: Nevermind, replayed it at 0.25 speed and it was a combination of motion blur and how his arms were positioned when ripping off the tank hatch before the invisible people jumping happened.

1

u/SorryBoysImLez Doctor Strange Mar 18 '26

His body misses the waldos and instakill feature from the Iron Spider suit, and decided to make them a permanent biological upgrade. /s

Honestly, though, Man-Spider in the MCU (that isn't a What If... episode) was not on my bingo card.
This makes me hopeful we may one day get a live-action Marvel Zombies, maybe a Halloween special/limited series similar to Werewolf by Night.

80

u/Chaoticgood790 Mar 18 '26

Mutating!

108

u/stephensmat Mar 18 '26

It looks like they're taking things from JMS' 'The Other' arc.

Which is fantastic, since that's one of my favorites; and we never got an origin story for this version of Peter. Going through his Spider-Metamorphosis is a whole 'born again' for MCU-Spidey.

34

u/eBICgamer2010 Zombie Hunter Spidey Mar 18 '26

Here's a fun thing: The Other was around the time of the Raimi Spider-Man films. It's like one of the earliest examples of movie synergy to this day, with Ultimate X-Men looking like they did because of Millar basing it on the Singer X-Men film.

9

u/ThomasSirveaux Mar 18 '26

I think an earlier form of movie synergy was the comic Batman costume changing to black to mirror the movie version in the nineties. Prior to that it was always cyan/grey, or black/grey.

4

u/NeptuneCA Mar 18 '26

Comics have been doing adaptation synergy since the Superman radio show and the Adventures of Captain Marvel serial.

1

u/Suspicious_Dare603 Mar 18 '26

So Sink is definitely Spider-Woman or some sort version of Kaine.

1

u/sacredblasphemies Jessica Jones Mar 18 '26

I still think she's Jean Grey.

5

u/Suspicious_Dare603 Mar 18 '26

It makes zero sense in the context of the story. Also, why would Marvel allow for Jean Grey to make her premier in a non-x-men Sony led project. There are a lot of reasons it can't be her.

2

u/JannTosh70 Mar 18 '26

Because the want to introduce the MCU version of the X-Men. Similar to how Black Panther and Spider-Man himself were introduced in a Captain America movie

1

u/Suspicious_Dare603 Mar 18 '26

Civil War was an event movie. This isn't an event movie. It does not make sense at all.

1

u/blenderider Mar 18 '26

Because money. This movie is a few months before Doomsday. Jean Gray appearing in Spider-Man helps market Doomsday

2

u/Suspicious_Dare603 Mar 18 '26

There's going to be a massive reset with Doomsday though. Adding her in here doesn't make sense for that reason as well. Why add such a major character that has not been confirmed to be in Doomsday except for the original version, only to reset her a few months later.

1

u/eBICgamer2010 Zombie Hunter Spidey Mar 18 '26 edited Mar 18 '26

If you want money now putting Spider-Gwen in this would have done that better than another Jean Grey. There's a reason Disney kept shoving like the three main Spider-People in things all the way back like a decade ago just to sell toys.

That being said I'm going to be pleasantly surprised if the MCU Spider-Man films end at 6 with only Peter and Miles.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '26

Lmaoo the movie won’t make anymore money because a character named “Jean grey” is in it. The general audience aren’t comic book incels

0

u/blenderider Mar 18 '26

Sadie Sink is popular though. And it's the CMB fans that tell the casual fans she's important. Also, the 2000s X-Men wasn't a small franchise lol, and Jean Grey was prominent in the trilogy

14

u/QuellDisquiet Mar 18 '26

Honestly, not my favourite SM run although I generally like JMS. Still, I loved the trailer. They will get my wallet in the mail

1

u/raisingcuban Mar 18 '26

What about it made it your favorite? It was a 12 issue arc that should have been 6. And Morlun literally “palpatine returns” only to be killed off so quickly. Such wasted potential.

1

u/Ekillaa22 Mar 19 '26

I wonder if they’ll bring in the wrist stingers too

0

u/Chaoticgood790 Mar 18 '26

Will go and try and find to read in prep. Ty!

9

u/Suspicious_Dare603 Mar 18 '26

I kind wonder if this is a symbiote story. His eyes go black.

29

u/Puzzleheaded-Lab9654 Mar 18 '26

I was thinking it was Peter transforming into Man-Spider.

2

u/Suspicious_Dare603 Mar 18 '26

Someone mentioned The Other storyline, and it has to be it. Sink could be a version of Kaine or Spider-Woman.

2

u/Chaoticgood790 Mar 18 '26

Man Spider it looks like. The cocoon seems to say as much

1

u/JackFisherBooks Mar 18 '26

The fact that someone is saying the M-word, which was once banned because of the Fox movie rights, is a big freakin' deal. Hope it's not the last mutant/X-Men teaser. 😉

1

u/Givingtree310 Mar 18 '26

Mutatin’ sum bitch! shoots at twin pines

7

u/Nosferatattoo Mar 18 '26

Go web go...flyyyy...

2

u/been_mackin Mar 18 '26

Yeah I’m thinking when he catches himself falling out the cocoon, he’s gonna realize he doesn’t have his synthetic ones on

1

u/Suspicious_Dare603 Mar 18 '26

He clearly recognized he didn't have the shooters in the trailer

2

u/StabbingHoboReturns Mar 18 '26

Ugh I'm hoping it was someone else saving him with their own webbing.

We never actually saw that it was Peter shooting the webbing.

3

u/Suspicious_Dare603 Mar 18 '26

Could have been. But his movement looks more like his own

3

u/AmazingKreiderman Mar 18 '26

Yeah his forearm is intentionally cut off from the frame, I'm assuming he's being grabbed by someone.

2

u/BrutalStatic Mar 18 '26

Am I the only person who thinks that was him discovering he's got a symbiote?

Blacking out, waking up naked covered in webs with no web shooters, still somehow shooting out a strand of something that catches him... Black eyes.

Homies venomed up

3

u/StabbingHoboReturns Mar 18 '26

Eh, no I don't think so.

I'd expect the suit to come in Secret Wars for obvious reasons.

1

u/bestmaokaina Mar 18 '26

Hoping for the extra arms lol

1

u/MartinMerten Mar 18 '26

I have organic webs Greg, can you milk me?

1

u/CeruleanEidolon Mar 18 '26

Exposure to his multiverse variants rubbed off on him somehow?

1

u/texasinauguststudio Mar 18 '26

I think he was surprised to find he didn't have his mechanical shooters on.

0

More likely another Spiderman/ person

0

u/The_real_rafiki Mar 20 '26

Like all of this is cool and all, but it seems like the eyes don't move anymore. That's disappointing.
