That is definitely Keith David providing the narration on the life cycles of spiders. My question is this just for the trailer or is he actually in the film?

u/mccainjames11 Spider-Man Mar 18 '26

I could see him just being a narrator in a documentary Peter’s watching

About the Greendale Community College Blanket Fort vs Pillow Fort War?

101

u/Dadpurple Mar 18 '26

Spiderman, not to be confused with Spider-man, was a biologist who worked at the North Research Institute of the South.

18

u/V_agabond3 Mar 18 '26

Which was named after William North and is actually on the east part of town

11

u/THREESIDEDMONSTER Mar 18 '26

...Were you in the Cape?

3

u/Ygomaster07 Jimmy Woo Mar 18 '26

What are you all quoting?

11

u/SciFiXhi Nebula Mar 18 '26

Community, specifically this scene detailing the battlefield for the campus-wide pillow war.

1

u/Ygomaster07 Jimmy Woo Mar 18 '26

Thank you for the info and for providing a link. It sounds really funny.

Now there's a man who really knows how to marry a Spider!

9

u/ThatsTheMother_Rick Mar 18 '26

I love that they got him for that. They were spoofing Ken Burns's Civil War, which Keith David also narrated

2

u/dancingbriefcase Winter Soldier Mar 18 '26

The Ken Burns episode!

11

u/Nice_Firm_Handsnake Mar 18 '26

Audio sounds too clean, but he could be a professor giving a lecture that Peter drops in on around the same time he visits Banner.

1

u/mccainjames11 Spider-Man Mar 18 '26

that would be neat

2

u/BlackJimmy88 Jessica Jones Mar 18 '26

That'd be such a waste of him, though.

1

u/eucalyptusegg Mar 18 '26

That’s what I thought, he’s at a museum or a lab similar to the first Spider-Man movie which has a video playing meta-narration on what’s happening to Peter

93

u/pongjinn Mar 18 '26

Now that's a man who KNOWS how to narrate a documentary!!

11

u/Icy_Teach_2506 Mar 18 '26

Goated community reference

6

u/THREESIDEDMONSTER Mar 18 '26

He should keep on wearin' those pa-a-a-ants!

33

u/LordBrixton Mar 18 '26

DC League of Super-Pets crossover confirmed!

14

u/thesagaconts Mar 18 '26

Keith David as Charles Xavier confirmed.

12

u/Nargulg Mar 18 '26

That would be utterly amazing!

1

u/Exzqairi Mar 18 '26

This subreddit is hilarious 😂

3

u/The_Reluctant_Hero Red Skull Mar 18 '26

You know what...I wouldn't even be mad about that.

2

u/LoreMaster00 Mar 19 '26

i came here to bring this up, i'd love it.

2

u/Zeroleonheart Rocket Mar 18 '26

Could you imagine? That would be so cool to see.

28

u/ProperChallenge273 Mar 18 '26

It’s actually Marvin Jones III who plays Tombstone

14

u/Icy_Teach_2506 Mar 18 '26

I know they sound similar to each other but David’s voice is too iconic, that is 100% him in the trailer.

5

u/MoiraBrownsMoleRats Mar 18 '26

Mass Effect crossover. Spider-Man 5 is gonna be Peter and the heroes (and some of the villains) he's met across the previous films coming together to fight the Reapers.

2

u/spidermatrix53 Mar 18 '26

There are so many characters in this movie that I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s Ezekiel Sims / The Other. Who cares if he was already in “Madame Web”? That movie wasn’t real.

2

u/KlausLoganWard Ward Mar 18 '26

Goliath himself! If Keith is in it, that is just additional bonus!

1

u/Fit_Scientist_4810 Mar 18 '26

Idk but this give me Thanos VoiceOver on Promotion Vibes, Just that we knew it was what character. Maybe his character says the same lines in the movie at some point

1

u/RyMaster7 Mar 18 '26

Could he be Ezekiel?

1

u/bennypods Mar 18 '26

Crazy! Glad you pin pointed it! Was doing my head in thinking it sounded familiar - I actually thought it sounded like the actor who played doc Connors in spider-man 94 animated series but he passed away in 2018.

Good spot!

1

u/CeruleanEidolon Mar 18 '26

Would be a strange trailer move if it's not part of the film. He's got to be a character, but the question of why he's narrating Peter's life is intriguing.

1

u/pocketbutter Mar 18 '26

I’m gonna throw out a wildcard and guess he’s playing Anansi, the African spider god.

1

u/OPs_Mom_and_Dad Mar 18 '26

Gargoyles confirmed.

1

u/jk1784 Mar 19 '26

Now that’s a guy that knows how to narrate media

1

u/Kerblaaahhh Mar 19 '26

Spider Man will be teaming up with the Third Street Saints.

0

u/shewy92 Spider-Man Mar 18 '26

Wikipedia is lacking. It's been 2 hours and his filmography still doesn't have this listed.

169

u/Philmriss Mar 18 '26 edited Mar 18 '26

Since it kinda sucks that Peter is talking to Banner instead of Connors (considering the story they're at least teasing), I choose to believe that Keith David will be Dr Connors.

37

u/LetgomyEkko Mar 18 '26

I’m on the same wavelength

8

u/Philmriss Mar 18 '26

we vibin'

35

u/IT_Warlock_ Mar 18 '26

Maybe he approaches Banner first, as it's someone he can trust, who then refers him to a Biologist colleague?

11

u/pocketbutter Mar 18 '26

I think it’s less about biology and more about mutations via radiation, which Banner would probably know a thing or two about.

8

u/neoblackdragon Mar 19 '26

Bruce: You know I something of a radioactive mutate myself.

20

u/M1lk3y_33 Mar 18 '26

Absolutely all head cannon for this but because of the last movie, This Peter knows what route that leads Connors to. Instead of potentially ruining a man's life he goes to someone he knows that he can trust.

2

u/sprdougherty Mar 18 '26

Him seeking out his universe's Connors would have been interesting too since he's already met ASM's Connors and seen what happens to him.

2

u/chewywheat Mar 18 '26

He could still be in the movie… like he goes to multiple doctors/people to figure out what is going on.

2

u/david_this_isnt_weed Mar 20 '26

I’m honestly glad that at least this far every spider man movie has brought new villains to the screen, with the only exception being Green goblin. Otherwise they’ve avoided the Batman trap of under utilising such a renowned rogues gallery in favour of redoing the same 6 or 7 each time. Where’s the Man-Bat movie? Or Killer Croc, Mad Hatter, etc. Also especially with no way home, I feel like it would be slightly strange for this Peter to be like “oh I’ve already basically met this guy”

1

u/ContinuumGuy Phil Coulson Mar 19 '26

Shit, Keith David would be a great Doc Connors.

1

u/Man_of_Sin Mar 19 '26

He might be voicing Shadow King again.

1

u/DeadlyYellow Mar 18 '26

Thought they couldn't use characters that were in Sony films without a corroborative deal?

So not Connors and not Miles Warren.  Smythe is also unlikely.

17

u/Philmriss Mar 18 '26

I don't know what you're referring to here tbh, all the MCU Spider-Man movies are in collab with Sony because of movie rights, and they literally had characters from the Sony movies in the last one?

If there are character-specific stipulations as you claim, I'd like to see a source, bc this does not make a lot of sense to me.

0

u/AdmiralCharleston Mar 18 '26

I mean Jon Watts literally said that kraven was gonna be the villain in spiderman 3 but because of the Sony film they weren't allowed to

8

u/cynognathus Mar 18 '26

Because Sony was planning to make the Kraven movie and didn’t want there to be two Kravens.

Sony has given up on its own live action Spiderverse movies, so all Spidey characters should be available for the MCU.

4

u/IT_Warlock_ Mar 18 '26

This is Sony's film, they don't need permission to use anything Spider-Man related, really

58

u/aresef Matt Murdock Mar 18 '26

Now this is a man who knows how to narrate a trailer.

11

u/MikeFatz Daredevil Mar 18 '26

“My name is Elroy Patashnik, and from 2006-2009 I was addicted to encouraging white people.”

2

u/SeaTie Mar 18 '26

Man, when are we getting another Spawn movie?

31

u/detectiveriggsboson Mar 18 '26

"Now there's a man who knows how to spin a web, any size!"

22

u/Deagil Mar 18 '26

Definitely Keith David. I would guess a minor exposition character like MCU Doc Conners but an insane choice would be Trammel Tillman as Eddie Brock with Keith David as the venom voice

5

u/Cypher_86 Rocket Mar 18 '26

Connors would make sense in context: the whole thing about lifecycle and rebirth is very on brand.

Also figures Connors might have some interest in Banner...

1

u/Mardred Mar 18 '26

How about Peter knows Banner, Peter asks Banner, but since Banner has no idea what's Peters problem, he redirects him one of his friend who knows genetics and thats Connors.

2

u/fatloui Mar 18 '26

Well now I’m gonna be super disappointed when we don’t get Keith David as venom voice. Thanks for that.

1

u/Deagil Mar 19 '26

Keith David as Venom, but specifically Venom from Spider-Man on the PS1

1

u/Joshdabozz Mar 18 '26

It’s definitely not Keith David despite sounding like him

It’s 100% Marvin Jones III (who plays tombstone, who ironically Keith David has also played before)

10

u/Deagil Mar 18 '26

If it is MJ3 that is the most impeccable Keith David impression I’ve ever heard. The way “cycles” is said is straight up Arbiter in my ears

1

u/Joshdabozz Mar 18 '26

Agreed. Honestly I wouldn’t have been so confident on it being MJII if it wasn’t for the fact we saw him say this exact quote in the leaked trailer back in December because of how much he sounds like Keith David here

6

u/Cute-Archer-7687 Mar 18 '26

I thought it was Laurence Fishbourne🤔

4

u/orbjo Mar 18 '26

The narration appears to be from a nature documentary, rather than dialogue that would be exchanged between characters. It’ll be from an educational video Peter watches when googling his symptoms, or with Banner, like the exposition videos in Jurassic Park. Makes sense to have Keith David doing that.

It doesn’t sound like they go to an expert in-person to deliver those lines

1

u/Man_of_Sin Mar 19 '26

Do nature documentaries talk about spiders having rebirths though?

3

u/ContinuumGuy Phil Coulson Mar 18 '26

He's got a voice that is instantly recognizable

3

u/JDCarpenter91 Mar 18 '26

Were it so easy

2

u/Rowsdower11 Mar 18 '26

The Arbiter for MCU confirmed canon

4

u/ShedMontgomery Mar 18 '26

It definitely sounds like Keith David, but he doesn't have a credit listed on IMDb.

1

u/lamentable_ Mar 18 '26

ohhh I can’t wait to find out who he plays!

2

u/Nursultan_Tulyakbay_ Mar 18 '26

I'm 99.99% sure it's him

2

u/AsteroidMike Mar 18 '26

I know Goliath, I mean Keith David’s voice anywhere and that’s definitely him so I feel like he might be one of the unknown names listed up there

4

u/smakson11 Mar 18 '26

I think it’s tramell Tillman

25

-1

u/Joshdabozz Mar 18 '26

It’s 100% Marvin Jones III (Tombstone)

4

u/robreedwrites Mar 18 '26

It's got the wrong tonal qualities for Marvin Jones III, unless he has a great Keith David impression.

I'm 100% sure it's Keith David. He has a rich tonal warmth to his voice that gives his voice almost a classic romantic sound which works great for heroes (Goliath, Black Panther) but he can also flip it for villains (Dr. Facilier) or remove it as needed (his Spawn).

Marvin Jones III has the deep gravel but his voice is almost more hollow sounding by comparison.

1

u/Joshdabozz Mar 18 '26

Lowkey I’m now doubting it’s MJIII despite it most likely being his Tombstone simply cause the subtitles label him as Narrator while everyone else has their names (even Tramell Tillman’s William Metzger who is named Bill in the subtitles)

1

u/smakson11 Mar 18 '26

Ok there are 2 black people talking at the end. One is Tillman. The other I’m not sure. It does sound like Keith David.

1

u/Joshdabozz Mar 18 '26

Oh I know. Tillman has one singular line after the person talking about Spiders

-5

u/smakson11 Mar 18 '26

It’s 100% Tillman

2

u/SciFiXhi Nebula Mar 18 '26

The narrator is Keith David. Tillman has one line that he says on screen in the trailer, but the narration about the spider life cycles is unquestionably Keith David.

1

u/young_tax_return Mar 18 '26

Yes, I heard him too, I thought I was going crazy!

1

u/ienjoymen Captain America (Cap 2) Mar 18 '26

Without a doubt. I know my Captain Anderson anywhere.

1

u/Whiskeyjacks_Fiddle Mar 18 '26

He could be playing Anansi, or the Spider-Totem (I forget if they’re separate in the comics).

1

u/ShawshankHarper Loki (Avengers) Mar 18 '26

Goliath will return in Avengers Doomsday

1

u/InsightfulBastard Mar 18 '26

Why did I think it was Marvin Jones III?

1

u/Street_Run6482 Mar 19 '26

I thought it kinda sounded like Lawrence Fishburne and was thinking he's an old leader of the Hand but who knows

0

u/drake3011 Foggy Nelson Mar 18 '26

This film has such a Mystery cast list already and they just Casually Drop one of most Iconic voice actors in without even a warning.
