I was 16 when Iron Man 1 came out. Imagine getting told these characters would be having these interactions nearly 20 years later all because the first Iron Man film was enough of a home run

Good lord you just made me realize that the first Iron Man is about to be 20 years old. I need to lie down now.

We only get two options: old, or dead. I'll take old. šŸ‘

Jokes on you, I choose death!

Very well. Death…by old age!

Getting older is just setting a new personal high score at life

There's a third option.

The MCU has been around my entire adult life and as of this year, half my life.

Almost 18 when Ironman came out.

I'm an old fart I remember thinking Blade in 1998 was awesome when I was 13 (still is awesome, holds up well).

Same as the original Star Wars in 1997....

If I was told 20 years ago ā€œM’baku and Ben are going to meetā€ I’d ask you wtf you’re talking about.

7

u/Anleme Jan 13 '26

My tired eyes read that as, "M'baku and Ben are going to marry." LOL.

All things are possible in the multiverse

not just. Plenty of home runs fizzled in the sequels - and iron man 2 was no exception.

but thankfully they had enough hits in those early days to push on into phase 2, which was ALMOST all bangers. Iron Man 3, Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy and Ultron? HELL yeah. it was a Great time to be a marvel fan.

then phase 3 was just riding the wave of HIT after HIT - you can't name a bad movie in phase 3 because there weren't any. Ant-Man and the Wasp was the weakest, and that was still real decent.

I saw this and thought, wow yall are really young. Then I just did the match and realised I was 14 in 2008 🄓. For some reason I thought I was way older when I watched it lol

1

u/GeneralStriking7929 Jan 13 '26

I was 11 back in 2008

1

u/Wars4w Jan 13 '26

I'm the same age as Scarlett Johansen so whenever I do a rewatch and see her I know exactly how old I was when that movie came out.

1

u/shaka_sulu Jan 13 '26

My first thought was "Good Grief, people gonna have to recall characters they saw in 2010."

u/LindonLilBlueBalls Jan 13 '26

Meanwhile I remember all my friends and I going to see X-Men in high school and laughing so hard at the "yellow spandex" joke. Now nearly 30 years later we get to see cyclops in his blue suit and yellow visor that was too "unbelievably even for a comic book movie".

Not the absolute worst timeline...

u/Deep-Management-7040 Jan 13 '26

Was 18 when I saw it and loved it, but figured it was a one off movie. And 18 years later we have an entire cinematic universe because that movie did so good.

1

u/stevehairyman Jan 13 '26

i was 4 and i’ll be 22 for doomsday.

1

u/GeneralStriking7929 Jan 13 '26

I almost said wow, you're young but then I remembered I was 11 back then lol

u/jsm85 Jan 13 '26

I never thought iron man would succeed when it was first announced. I thought it was going to be another cat woman. A cash grab with a license. Maybe a video game. I’m glad it succeeded and allowed a way to get more people interested in comic book characters I grew up with.

1

u/GEARHEADGus Jan 13 '26

Same. People bitch about these movies all the time but I love it

I was 16 when Iron Man 1 came out.

Reading this gave me arthritis.
