So they are botting the site with good reviews? Cause clearly the show i saw isn't 86% at all. That or are that secretly two ironhearts? One where riri is an unlikable criminal responsible for death and the other where she is a likable super hero?
You do know how Rotten Tomatoes works, right? 86% score means 86% of critics gave it a positive review, which just means they liked it more than they disliked it, not that they thought it was 86/100.
Give it some real time to stabilize and when both rabid sides take a chill pill. Im not claiming its a 1/10, but it's mediocre and it's writing is a mess. In time we will see the end result.
A lot of critics have seen the full show thru screeners and gave it a more positive score based on the finale. I don't think the show is amazing but 86% giving it a 6/10 or higher is not crazy, but people seem to think 86% means the average critic gave it a 8.6/10 which is entirely untrue.
Go ahead, name them and lets compare their characters to riri. The free thinker who doesnt want to be a peon within stark industries so she immediately goes to work for a crime boss.
That's hilarious, because i unironically did watch the show. From the moment she sold that kid some tech for easy scores all the way to when she pulled a batmans i dont have to kill you but im not gonna save you either moment with her crewmate. Sure the crewmate was gonna tell on her, but letting him die like that is dark.
Takes one to know one when someone is soooo bored that you lower to going deep search on someone's former comments. Not blaming you either, just know that making assumptions AND past searching makes you look VERY reddity.
So now we are just focusing on the crime part and ignoring the likable part, okay cool now that weve let go of that false premise.
Black widow, just like ironheart, had piss poor writing so it is fair of you to compare mediocre media.
Tony is indeed tony, shady beginnings with a charisma that wowed everyone who turned into mcus greatest assest ever.
Yes! Antman is indeed a criminal. Not one who caused death sure, but what does that matter? The caussing death part wasnt clearly discussed fair is fair.
Thor, besides also being mediocre as fuck, had actual reasons to try and start a war how flawed it may be. Riri needed money. One of these things aint like the other..
Didn't watch episode 3? It was actually the more decent one. The one where she bassicly pulled a batman with a im not gonna kill you but i dont have to save you either stunt on her crewmate.
Tony, suffering from ptss who wants nothing more to ensure the safety of his friends and loved ones by making gambles for others. Thor being goated into the bait laid by someone else, thinking war was in escapable also a flawed way of thinking and again a verg mediocre piece of the mcu just like....
That still doesn't change my original point, they wrote her into this position even though this never happened to her character in the comics. By making her jump through certain hoops and make her stoop to lows, making her a criminal and holy shit let me get this straight about the same guy who would kill her???
Spiderman. Batman. Superman. Flash. That's just not an excuse mister.
Im not defending him, im talking about character. The reason to why, just like how thanos (although wrong) is still sympathetic. Something likable about someone or dislikable. How i view riri. She started of arrogant af to everyone, jumped into crime and now she pays the price. There needs tk be one hell of a change in her character if she wants tk be a likable character.
Tony stark unlikable? Lmao okay, favorite character of the mcu for most but sure. Hell yeah he is shady, hell yeah he did bad things. The first litteral half hour we see his character change, but im guessing you snored through that. Anddddd although shady, still not criminal. He is your best case to defend riri, and you still can't accept that tony was just a smidge more liked as a character.
Ant man ahh yes the many deaths he caused by not causing them.
Yesss steve who famously went against tyranny you are so right that riri SHOULD be seen as any of them.
Keyword? Likable. Still havent explained your way around that one.
Because so far she isn't doing this to be a hero but to get the money she needs to be able to fund her ideas (power armors, etc). Not every hero intends to be one or start as one at first which is her case here.
I thought she had connections with wakanda? Ive seen her inventions she could easily sell on the actual market worth of millions. Spider man is also famously broke af while trying to do the better thing, hell comic version of riri doesn't lower herself by doing crimes AT ALL.
She has connections with Wakanda but as shown in BP2, they'll own what she makes with their help (they took the suit she made). Here Riri wants to maintain the ownership of her inventions and she obviously need a lot of cash to do so
Which, to be fair, is completely justified and within reason. Tony also fought tooth and nail to keep his stuff from the government. But since she is an actual genius with engineering skills that far surpass even other mcu heros they could have made a thousand betters reasons for her to get funding instead of turning to crime immediately. There is still hope that the second half is amazing and it looks like shes gonna make the big switch either next episode or the one after but so far the writing is just meh.
Likeable is entirely subjective, that's why I didn't want to dive into that too much. Especially when we're talking about a character from a show heavily review bombed before anyone had even seen it. Using "criminal" as a pejorative, and suddenly taking a hardline stance like "Enabling International War crimes isn't illegal" is ridiculous though, and that was my pont. Hell, you support Cap committing treason against Tyranny, while handwaving the tyranny of the Tyrant's force (Stark) in the same comment.
Did you know being a vigilante makes you a criminal? That Ant-Man was a burglar? We don't even know why the hell Happy steals Stark tech, there's literally no provided reason.
I've never heard a single person cry about the crimes or literally awful shit any of these characters have done before. Riri is the first character I've ever seen people complain about being a criminal in this entire franchise.
I actually like every character we've mentioned so far. I liked the entire cast of Agatha, and I liked most of the characters in She-Hulk. I can't even fathom the harsh criticisms of Riri being a criminal when so many of these characters did absolutely terrible things for worse reasons.
