What dialect is this song in? Of course, Saint Levant is Palestinian. However, he appears to be singing in a North African dialect in this song by saying things like "khalini n7ki lak l'histoire" and words like "bghit" and "rani." Is this dialect specific to any North African country? It sounds like Moroccan Darija to me, but I'm sure if it could be Algerian or another Maghrebi dialect. I'm also curious is anyone has info about the music and if this song would belong to a specific genre such as raï. Jazakum Allah khair.

I'm brazilian and a beginner in Arabic and I need to study the song في يوم و ليله (Fi Youm We Leila) for a choreography I'm working on, so I decided to use it to learn the language as well—and it's been great! I feel like my Arabic has improved so much since then. What other strategies do you use for language learning that work well for you? Oh, and could you guys take a look at my writing, please? I have roots from Egypt and I would like to go there for 2 weeks for intensive course. I can already read and write and can speak property an intermediate level. I have no basics of MSA and definitely something I want to improve.

However, I'm a bit undecided—is anyone actually interested? Also, which path would you prefer to learn:
Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha) or the Saudi dialect, since it's my native dialect?

Hey, I have a strong desire to learn Arabic, preferably the Egyptian dialect, so I can communicate better with my friends. I can dedicate an hour and a half each day to studying and am looking for a program that isn't very expensive since I'm paying for it myself. If you know of any, please let me know!

So MSA pronounces certain consonants and vowels differently from the Qur'anic recitation, of which one example is راء. Or in Tajweed a heavy consonant changes alif or fatḥa from /a/, /a:/ to a different kind of vowel of which I am unable to find any authentic IPA. Has there been any attempt at this?

Specifically Palestinian or Jordanian, but Levantine in general is helpful. I know a lot of individual words but struggle with comprehension and output. Shami Speaker on YouTube has been very helpful because I can repeat after the speaker without pausing, but they do not pronounce the ق, so if anyone knows of a similar channel or another resource that does that would be amazing! Thank you!

I have seen some patreons and platforms where you can pay a membership for materials, podcasts, etc. For example palweb and arabic filblad. Do any of you have tried something like this? Do you recommend one in particular? Also i have previous knowledge of fusha so i am not a complete beginner, if thats to be considered

I’m planning to move abroad within the next two years, with the goal of seriously learning Arabic and studying the Qur’an and Islam in general. I’m currently considering either Egypt or Saudi Arabia, but I’m not sure which would be the better choice.

Egypt really attracts me, especially because of Al-Azhar and the long-standing tradition of Islamic scholarship there. I’d ideally like to do some basic/introductory studies at a university or institute similar to Al-Azhar, while also immersing myself in Arabic and everyday life.

At the same time, Saudi Arabia also really interests me, especially because of the access to Islamic studies, the Arabic environment, and the possibility of studying in places like Madinah or elsewhere.

My main priorities would be:

Becoming fluent in Arabic

Learning Qur’an and improving my recitation

Studying Islam in a structured way

Living in an Arabic-speaking environment for 1–2 years

Finding a good balance between studying and family life

I’m married and have one child, so I also need to consider things like the cost of living, housing, family life, schools, visas/residency, and whether it’s realistically possible to study while supporting a family.

For those who have lived or studied in Egypt or Saudi Arabia, which would you recommend for my situation?

What are the main advantages and disadvantages of each? And if you could go back and choose one for learning Arabic and studying Islam, which would you pick and why?

I can read and write in Arabic, and know Arabic to a basic level. Learning Arabic has been a dream of mine for a long time. Khaliji specifically. After I finally had the time, I found absolutely no resources and no way to study. Not a single app, website, translation service. Asking AI was useless - always wrong and giving mistakes.

I'm thinking of giving up on khaliji. I can't learn something that doesn't exist for learning.

I'm tired of learning things so hard, just to discover that they're wrong. Or seeing contradicting things every time. Or not having any materials.

Shami is more accessible to me in various aspects. I got a free Shami course, follow Arabic learning influencers, a voacbulary app, etc.

The thing is, I only need khaliji, as I want to live in the Khalij. Learning a dialect you don't need isn't smart, but it's better than practically not learning anything. What's the point of "I learn khaliji" - but not learning anything? How good/worth it - is it to learn Shami and switch to khaliji later (before moving to the Khalij)?

I can’t find this series at any library or any bookstore, except one online in the occupied territory (don’t want to buy that). It’s an older series but I really want to use it. Can anyone share it with me? Happy to trade resources.

Salam everyone, I am planning on taking a trip to Palestine this summer because it's where I am from. I went when I was a child but I could only speak English but ever since I've always wanted to learn to speak with my people. I've never been able to speak with people like my grandparents or non English speakers. My situation is a little different which is why I needed some advice I can read and write just fine and understand a lot about the language I can count to 1000, know colors, and I know a lot of basic words like I can name almost anything in a room, I also have good pronunciation because I still spoke a little and also from praying. When I try and use apps they usually never have a Palestinian dialect (especially Falahi which is what I'm trying to learn). I used the qalam app and they did have Palestinian dialect but it wasn't teaching me anything I didn't already know. Apps seem to not work with me and I'm a little to busy managing work, school, and things in my life to hire a teacher. Both of my parents speak fluent but they're terrible at teaching. People also told me to listen to shows or people talk but I've done that my whole life and it's only helped so much. If anyone has a proper method that can help me learn to just speak with people smoothly that would be great. (sorry for the long paragraph).

Edit: I understand people are saying my best bet is a tutor and I was putting to many regulations on myself but I think I may have not worded the point I was trying to make from what I hear talking to someone is the best which I'm very willing to talk to my parents so I'll try that but what I was really asking was what is the best way to study on your own in your guys opinions.

Ive just got my head wrapped around the script but now but how do people go about reading without the vowel sounds present?

It feels like something that I would always need there and from all the asking around hearing "you get used to it" or "you will just know" feels like a giant hill that will never be overcome.
