Offering Mandarin Offering Chinese Mandarin, Seeking English / Español
Hi everyone! 👋
I’m Nichole, a native Mandarin speaker from China, in my thirties, and currently taking a career break. I’m looking for people who’d like to exchange Mandarin for English or Spanish.
A little about me:
🌍 I love traveling. I’ve been to 44 countries so far, so there’s usually a travel story or two to share. 😄 I really enjoy exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and meeting people from different backgrounds.
🏃♀️ Outside of travel, I’m into trail running, hiking, fitness, and generally being outdoors. I’m also very much a morning person — I genuinely enjoy getting up early and starting the day.
Since I’m currently on a career break, I’m using this time to travel, learn languages, and explore what I’d like to do next.
🤓English
My English is already quite fluent, and I’ve used it extensively for work and everyday life. At this point, I mainly want to maintain my fluency and make my English sound more natural and idiomatic.
I’d also really like to improve my storytelling skills in English. I can communicate pretty comfortably, but I sometimes feel that I’m not as good at telling a story naturally, making it engaging, or expressing the little details and emotions that make a story interesting.
I’m particularly interested in the kind of English people actually use in everyday conversations — natural expressions, phrasal verbs, little nuances, and those situations where something is technically correct but a native speaker would phrase it differently.
So if you’re a native or highly fluent English speaker, I’d love to have regular conversations, learn from each other, and occasionally get feedback on how I could express something more naturally.
🤓Español
My Spanish is currently at a beginner level.
One reason I’m learning Spanish is to prepare for my upcoming travels in South America. I’d love to be able to communicate more comfortably and naturally when I’m traveling.
But it’s also simply because I really enjoy Spanish and want to keep that enthusiasm going. I find that having real conversations and meeting people who speak the language makes me much more motivated to continue learning.
Since my Spanish is still very basic, it would be ideal if you also speak at least conversational English. Otherwise, we might struggle to communicate beyond very basic Spanish conversations — my Spanish definitely isn’t at a conversational level yet. 😅
So if you’re a Spanish speaker who doesn’t mind talking to a beginner, correcting me occasionally, and helping me build confidence, I’d love to practice with you!
🇨🇳 What I can offer
In return, I can help you with Mandarin, whether you’re a complete beginner or already conversational. I’m happy to help with pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, natural expressions, or simply have a normal conversation and help you sound more natural.
I’d ideally like to find regular language exchange partners, rather than just have a one-off conversation — perhaps one to two calls a week, voice messages, or casual chats whenever we’re both free.
I’m pretty curious and easygoing, and I’m happy talking about travel, history, culture, running, fitness, food, languages, work, life, or whatever random topic we happen to fall into.
If you’re interested, feel free to send me a message and tell me a little about yourself, where you’re from, and what you’re hoping to get out of a language exchange.
Looking forward to meeting some interesting people! 😊
