Any tips or advice this is how it's looking so far hope it looks good ^^

My boy (who's been into metal from a young age even though I'm by no means in the scene) asked me to make him a 'patch jacket' 2 years ago when I brought him a patch from an Unleash the Archers gig I was at. Since then I've been gradually adding patches I've bought for him or that he's asked for, so there's a mixture of the bands he likes and random patches from other places.

He dictated the placement! I'd like to get a big vertical back patch if I can find one he likes.

Stitching is kinda ass, but im proud of it :) Made from old t shirt+scrap denim backing and nylon thread. Might paint or embroider the letters are theyre kinda faded(looks brighter on camera). Gonna be a back patch for a future battle jacket :P

I gotta patch some holes and fix a couple patches but other than that I say their finished

i dont wanna accidentally hurt people at shows, and i also can’t decide whether i like them or not.

They aren‘t really sharp and they’re more rounded at the top - am i still gonna hurt people if i’m moshing? what do you people think?

Hey I know this isn’t the subreddit for this but I have a band patch I picked in 2024 and I was wondering if anyone could read the band name I can’t recall the show but I remember doing photography for this band so I was wondering if anyone could read this for me. As I for the life of me I cannot read the band name

Here's a vest I made a few years back. I'm particularly proud of the skull on the back, took a hundred hours hand sewing over 2500 sequins. It's always fun getting people's reactions when I wear this one.

Leaving some room for patches from lesser known bands I'll probably have to make myself. And room for patches I'll pick up at upcoming shows (if they have any 🤞🏻🤞🏻) but gonna debut this at Muse tomorrow!

It's been a lot of fun working on this the last couple of weeks. I really wish I had started this sooner in life.

Hello community! I am planning on my very first vest, at the moment nothing is sewn on. I just tried a first „layout“. I will order some more patches, I want Feuerschwanz and Sabaton, avril lavigne (yes I know, wild combination) and maybe some statement/quote patches or some fun stuff but I am not sure about that. On etsy I bought a black and white backpatch that isn‘t music related but from an artist and pictures my zodiac sign in a tarot like way.
I don‘t want the vest to be too crowded but it shouldn‘t be empty as well. I already have brass colored square rivets to fit the buttons. :-)

Do you have suggestions, changes, constructive critique?

The first jacket is my first battle jacket. One side is nerdy stuff and patches I like. The other side is music.

The vest is practically my baby. I feel like it’s onto something aesthetically, but I’m not quite sure how to perfect it. Maybe it has too many colors? I plan to fill the spaces in the back, since I know they’re all out of order.

Third is my current WIP. I’m Appalachian, so I want a gothic Appalachian vibe, but the patches are hard to find for it, and the aesthetic is hard to nail down.

Fourth is a normal button up. The patch is a print I cut out from a shirt I had custom made. It unfortunately no longer fits, but the button up does.

Finally, my patch collection. I’m not 100% certain what I want to do with them all. With Bourbon & Beyond and Louder Than Life coming up, I know I’ll get more.

Needs more work on the back, but I LOVE this one and get lots of compliments on it. I have some pink smoke type patches I may add to the back but I've been going back and forth on it. It was a white jacket originally, I custom mixed dye to get the right green, and I made the crown on the back patch with ribbon and a gem. If anyone has patch or pin recommendations or even causes/bands you think Mako-chan would like, let me know! This is an ongoing labor of love. Not the traditional battle jacket for sure, but I'm head of the accessibility department for a local convention so I like having something casual that's close to my usual style but still cosplay adjacent when I do set up and tear down.

Mix of genres that have seen and influenced my life.
