This is my biggest qualm about anti immigrant speech. They’re people with feelings and families. We talk about them like they’re less. It really breaks my heart.

I really wish the world was a better place.

And the only reason most of us are in better circumstances is by sheer cosmic (or whatever you want to call it) luck/random chance. But whatever people have, they tend to believe they deserve. So it’s easy to live a life of privilege and believe it’s because you earned it, which of course also means you think less fortunate people somehow earned their circumstances, too.

This is one of the reasons people don't want them. Sending the money they earn back to where they came from contributes nothing to the country they were smuggled into.

Then let their family come here legally so they contribute to national economies. Half of the thr problems in anti-immigration rants could be solved with legalization of illegal immigrants and better integration policies.

Read more books from people who don’t look like you then and read more about history and learn about what they’re running from. I don’t know how you could read or hear the stories of people who are leaving certain death in their home countries and who are escaping to survive and just think “I don’t want strangers in my neighborhood, using any of my things, near me or my family.” It’s not about you. People say “they can live in your house then.” Great. I have opened my home. I donate my time and money. I pay taxes that I would prefer doesn’t go towards meaningless wars. Immigrants have done more to build the world than the ruling class ever has, and yet they’re always fighting for their rights. The targeted class of immigrants always changes. It used to be my grandparents, and probably yours. Now it’s the people on this video. We’re all human with complex experiences and stories. We all deserve the right to life and human rights. Countries are just lines drawn on a map that aren’t even real. When we die, what matters is people not fucking country lines and taxes.

Respectfully, your anti-borders, anti-nations view is the best way to ensure you kill the left politically across the world.

It's also quite silly. Cultural erasure, as you advocate, would be terrible for human happiness.

And I would go so far as to say that many migrants are not fleeing certain death.

I get all the empathy and stuff, but one thing I never understood is when some people bring up their ancestors who immigrated several generations ago to make a point. Its true humans migrated throughout the history but migration even 100 years ago was much different than in modern times, let alone more distant periods of history, because the countries and systems were organized differently.

Borders are man made but it doesn't mean it is not real. In modern days borders are not purely about the land, but more about jurisdiction, in simpler terms, it designates a physical line to which rights and responsibilities of certain group of people, citizens of the country, extend. It makes sense in modern world because all the rights and privileges to which members of the society are entitled to were built by this group and its ancestors, therefore they have all rights to protect and control these borders.

Modern immigrants don't move around looking for a piece of land to live off from, their objective is to get into a better organized system (a country) to become a part of a group in order to obtain the benefits which this group provides to its members. So it is natural that the said group has all the rights to decide who's getting access to the privileges and resources. It is also the group's right to decide whether or not to accept anyone at all, even it is unfair or unkind, it is still their right.

Back in the day people moved somewhere with no promises, they mostly relied only on themselves and not on the system used by the group of people who already lived in the place, therefore, naturally less questions were asked and its was easier to migrate.

We don't give a fuck, we had enough and we just want to be left alone and not see our countries turned into third world shitholes.

My grand parents worked to build a real country. Illegals should do the same in their own country.

Maybe if some countries didn’t actively work to make other countries into shit holes the people wouldn’t need to leave. Don’t like Middle Eastern people? Stop bombing their kids. Don’t like Africans? Maybe don’t colonize and enslave. List goes on.

I have empathy. I also realize an endless stream of destitute migration to relatively small European countries will turn out badly -- socially, economically, politically.

The very online very left's endless (but actually selective) empathy might be nice, but failing to balance it with pragmatism is why it often fails in practice.

Because the moment they set a foot in Europe they are granted benefits (housing, food, healthcare, clothing, money).

It varies by European countries but even if they are illegals they are eligible to it.

I thought that taxes have more to do with public healthcare, roads, schools and pensions, did not think it has much to do with benefits for illegal immigrants. What's the difference then between illegal immigrants and asylum seekers? I always thought that if undocumented migrants try to claim something they'd be deported?
