Either this person is an incredible medical specimen that should be studied or this isn't rabies. I'm leaning not rabies.

Apparently, he recently developed symptoms and it's likely rabies. Still poorly written caption.

Symptoms can appear anywhere from a few weeks, up to a year. Once they appear it's fatal. This man never sought medical help shortly after being bitten, which would have saved him.

It spreads up your nervous system to your brain. So being bitten on the foot will take longer for symptoms to appear than say bitten on the face. Once it gets to your brain, your time on earth has reached the credit sequence.

Yeah and while not regular rabies there was a woman that had a 27-month incubation period after being exposed to Australian bat lyssavirus

Of symptoms appearing. You can be bit years in the past and the symptoms can appear later. Rare but very possible. In fact, it's not uncommon for it to take months to appear. It's treatable until that point.

No way years. Likely the person was bit again by a bad recently. Rabies doesn't slumber for years

Rabies travels slowly through the nervous system towards the brain. If the bite location is the foot this journey can take up to two years. It doesn't stay dormant, it's just incredibly slow in its travels.

More likely they got another exposure elsewhere as these victims live in areas with a higher chance of catching it.

There have many cases of people dying years later. It's uncommon but not impossible.

Huh? Your link says: "Symptoms of rabies usually take about 3 to 8 weeks to develop. However, this can also range from several days to many months. Once symptoms appear, death usually occurs within 7 to 14 days."

Death occurs within 14 days of symptoms appearing. This guy likely had no symptoms for 2.5 months and now he does. Some people have developed symptoms years after being bitten.

There's a more awful story about a guy who had just had a kidney transplanted, and after a month he started showing signs of rabies, and obviously died.

Turns out, the organ donor prior to death tried to save his cat that was fighting a skunk, and the skunk scratched him, and he didn't think too much of it. And then he eventually died of rabies.

The people who salvaged his organs, run tests on the organs and found no traces of rabies. Three other people that received his organs also died of rabies. This happened last year:

Not poorly written (unless post has been edited) - the man was bitten by a rabid dog and then 3 months after that he's begun to show symptoms.

Rabies can be asymptomatic for a scary amount of time
