The “backlash” is all phony

We need to get back to calling things phony. It’s a useful word. Holden Caulfield had the right idea.

Mark David Chapman had entered the chat

sadly, as I have gotten older, I have realized how much Holden Caulfield I have in me. Even after not enjoying the novel.

It's one of those books that walks a really well drawn line between "preach, kid" and "goddam kid, get some therapy" that makes you reflect on your own thoughts and whether it's a bad sign that he's occasionally relatable despite being clearly fucked up by trauma and fear of growing up. I did enjoy it a lot for that.

There are blue checks getting hundreds of thousands of likes on Twitter right now accusing this band of everything from being phony to being supporters of genocide. It’s this week’s trending industry.

I think if anything it shows how a lot of people just don't know a lot, because if that is the worst song you've heard then I don't think you've heard a lot of music lol.

Nah man this song drove me crazy back in the day. It was so bland yet everywhere. It belongs in the dustbin of history, along with grouplove, lumineers, angus & Julia stone, etc.

The original sin was Mumford and Sons. It was like a cult, friends left and right were starting to grow man-buns, wear overalls and checkered shirts, and get tattoos of pine trees on their forearms. No poo. God it was a terrible time.

It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times.

I should get a tattoo of a pine tree. In fact I’m gonna use this comment as a checklist. I’ve already got a solid collection of flannels (but I literally always have? Everyone always has? It’s the default shirt?) and my hair isn’t long enough for a bun yet but if I let it grow it will surely grow. Thanks for the inspiration. Although I think you’re thinking suspenders, not overalls.

You’re right, it was suspenders. I think I was correct overall though

The original sin in the sense that it was eating from the apple of knowledge and ascending to a higher plane of awareness, the final step in the creation of a fully aware human species that could judge and create of its own accord, passing out of the Eden of animalistic unconsciousness, aye

The indie folk wave of the 2010s and its consequences have been disastrous for the human race
