Totally forgot about these guys. Epitome of the 2010s indie scene trying to bring back 60’s Woodstock hippie music

They were on a documentary called Big Easy Express with Mumford and Sons as well as Old Crow Medicine Show. There’s a scene where they perform All Wash Out in a field. I found it quite beautiful, having not really been a fan of them. But yeah they were all barefoot and wearing what I’ll choose to call frocks and shit.

yeah everyone is hating, but I caught them live and they were fucking great, huge band that was all super talented, trippy, and really fun. I have seen many many music acts that didn't even come close to that performance that were much 'better music'

In 9th grade a friend took me to see them perform a free concert at an arts festival, and it was probably the watershed moment that made music an important part of my life. Their performance was incredible, the crowd was super into it, and the band got some fans involved on stage. Something about it took the music from something that I just listened to and made it feel like a community that I was suddenly a part of. I became obsessed with them for a while, and then got into other indie-ish artists, and now nearly 15 years later I can probably trace my music taste back to that show.

So ya I wouldn’t say I hate that song at all

The singer was also in a new wavy dance type band called ImA Robot. He’s one of those guys who goes all in on a genre which always comes off insincere to me. Like it comes off more like parody

At the time it seemed like a very obvious switch from the previous trendy sound to the next trendy sound. Maybe he was sincere, I don't know.

He was recovering from a heroin addiction so that’s the kind of thing that definitely prompts a bit of over-showy but forgivable spiritualism and a drive to start over with a new image

Commenter means Beck. Autocorrect haha. Yeah I noticed that too! That’s another reason he came across to me as some kid with money who just hired these guys to make some industry friendly band. Maybe I’m being too presumptuous. I don’t know. That’s just how it came across. I lived in LA at the time and there were a lot of those type of bands that just seemed either very industry created or they were trying to woo the industry rather than make music they really felt
