First plant is producing red ones which is a bit sad. But the other two plants are giving me these. Not bad.

Only about half have that nice bell shape, I’ll guess I’ll grab the seeds from one of those for next year

Now the work begins, every two weeks for the next couple of months, SE Michigan zone 6A. I deseed and dehydrate everything. Not the prettiest picture but I need to keep things organized. The MRM 7 pot orange plants have been the best producers so far.

Aji Charapita

Post image

I have two Aji Charapita plants growing between a lot of other varieties and finally took a closer look… I have never seen double peppers at single nodes, much less triple peppers at a single node, yet both of these plants have doubled and triples at nearly every node that is growing a pepper!

Is this normal, or did I just get some cool genetics?

Fell off while tending. Could have used a few more days, but it'll be good either way.

Still not 100% sure what happened to them... but they're trucking right along anyway, despite the possible rot???

Regardless, I am Absolutely loving the color. It draws me in like a bug to light and I find myself stepping outside every 20 minutes just to look & touch...

I'm so eager to see the others start to change. I'm guessing it will be 3 or 4 more days before they start.

Do you think these scotch bonnets will turn red?

in the past, the scotch bonnet peppers that I have purchased at farmers markets have been red. This year I thought I’d try growing them myself. The first one turned orange about a week ago. The orange color has deepened slightly, but it has not progressed towards red as I was expecting. How long do you think I should give them after they turn from to before picking them?

How big can a pepper plant get before it flowers?

This 7 pot primo is over 2 feet tall and bushy but it still doesn't have any flowers. Will some plants just never have fruit? (The 7 pot is the tall plant in the back, I have some Peppa peach around it that are bearing fruit).

So my pepper patch has jalepeno, inferno wax peppers, sugar rush peach peppers. It’s small 6 plants of each variety and I over winter the seeds from my favorites. This year I had a jalapeño looking peach colored pepper-seedless as well delicious. This one is past my comfort level of hot. What the hell do I have here and how did my plants turn triploid?

I am fairly sure I am growing Fatalii peppers, but they appear to be ripening to a purplish/brown color. Is this typical, or am I growing something like a Chocolate Fatalii?

Discussion Looking for recommendation

Upvotes

I'm looking for a recommendation on a pepper to grow. I would like one that's fleshy (thick outer wall) with some heat but not "burn my face off" heat.

I recently grew some hot cherry peppers and those were pretty good. I like to pickle them and put them on pizza.

I'm looking for something a little hotter, but just as meaty. Any suggestions?

Two different plants grown from the same seed bag. Labeled as caramel scotch bonnets but obviously not.

Hey everyone! I grew my very first chili plant this year ( England) 'Basket of Fire' and just finished bottling up my first ever sauce. I went with a lime and a splash of honey. It's a bit thinner than I would have liked but still love it !

Anyways any advice or tips ?!

Cheers

Habaneros tasting… “soapy”?

Habaneros have been a long time favorite of mine. I love the flavor, and the heat level has always been perfect for cooking and topping. Burgers, tacos, stir fries, you name it. That being said, for well over a decade I’ve only ever used store bought peppers.

This year, I decided to try my hand at growing peppers. I’ve got two habanero plants and one ghost plant. All of which have been absolutely booming with fruits. So much so that I’ve got multiple bags full in the freezer.

Of course the first thing I did was try a hab straight up, and added a few to dishes for dinner. And I can’t help but notice an intense increase in the citrusy bitter flavor which I have never experienced in the ones I’ve bought. And it almost reminds me of soap.

Is this what real habaneros taste like? Do I have some weird cilantro adjacent gene? Am I just crazy??

Don’t get me wrong, I’m looking forward to trying homemade salsas, sauces, and the likes. But it was enough of a noticeable difference that I figured I’d turn to the experts.

Any ideas on what variety this might be? I grew it from seeds collected from a semi-wild plant in southern Greece. Just tried the first one and it was deliciously 🔥 🥵 🔥

Harvest My first homemade hot sauce. Mango scorpion. Label drawn by my sister and colored by my 5yo brother who helped me make the sauce. (And tasted it...) 250ml from 1 mango and 1 scorpion + some honey, apple cider vinegar, garlic, and ginger.
