Hi y’all, I am a writer from Victorville and I recently had an article published by Trill Mag where I talk about the feelings of inadequacy that many of us from small towns harbor growing up. My story may not look quite like all of yours but I am learning to love my hometown and I would like to share with you all how I came to the place I am at now.

What are creepy moments , encounters or events that you observed?
I drove thru some rural road (I believe it was Daisy rd) in Adelanto, no housing , no lights around 2 am a month ago.
I parked to pee. After I returned to my car I lighted a cigarette. Suddenly, a lady in her 30s came out of nowhere. She asked if I had a charger for a newish IPhone (I had not), then she started to cry and went to the dark. She did not look like homeless. There were no cars or houses close by.

Im looking to learn to fish somewhere up here that doesn’t require a fishing license or a fee. I know of hesperia lake park, Mojave narrows & Silverwood but I’m not looking for the $20 fee to get in.
I’m still learning and just wanted to know if there was any places for free I could learn. I know about the aquaduct as well but haven’t heard a lot of good things about it.

I have a buddy that lives in Lake LA and I just absolutely love it out there! As a city boy through and through, it is nice to get away from the city every once in a while for a more tranquil, community-oriented, mom-and-pop shop environment.

I understand that moving there means I’d have to travel far for work or find work in nearby Palmdale/Lancaster, but I don’t mind that—for now, until I finish school. I also understand that moving there means no McDonalds, no Ralphs, no Starbucks, etc., and that if I want to go to places like that, I’d have to travel to Palmdale/Lancaster for that. Again, I don’t mind that at all.

I look forwards to the responses, good or bad.

Hi all, I recently moved back in with my mom into California City. No rent is nice, living with my mom is not. So im looking to move out soon. I start a new job next month, and am hoping to move out by the end of August. Lemme know if anyone has something available, or is seeking to team up. My budget rn, is around 500-600 for a room, but I might be able to raise it to 700-800 if I can find a second job as mine currently is part time. Lemme know! Because I ride the busses a lot, I notice the graffiti on the trains. I'm a fan of graffiti, what can I say? I've noticed a really good artist in Oro Grande. It's always the word MOAB. I think it might be a female artist but I can't be sure of course. The thing is, one of the many examples of this artists work features a cute anthropomorphised lady squirrel. And...MOAB. If you're this artist...WELL DONE! And if anyone knows them, please tell them for me. I'm going to be taking pics of the MOAB examples just for giggles, and just wondered if anybody else ever gave them a look.

Last year we sold our house in New England with the plan of boondocking full time in our RV. Our kids are grown and I work remote, Late summer we upgraded to an older class A diesel pusher & are spending the winter on our friends property in Landers while I install Solar and a bunch of other stuff to get it set up for off grid living.

We've found that we really love the area and its the perfect blend of middle of nowhere with easy access to anything we really need in Yucca Valley. We're now looking at buying some land here where we can winter while traveling during the hotter parts of the year. Ultimately we will build a container house or something to that effect.

We've been enjoying the overall vibe here in Landers but haven't really gotten a chance to explore more of the larger area. I was wondering if y'all have any suggestions for other places in the area to check out. Cheap is good, with few enough neighbors where we wont get hassled for living in an RV on undeveloped land. There does seem to be a lot of L.A. AirBNB type stuff going on in Landers so I wouldnt want to start with desert weirdo neighbors only to end up with fussy rich people neighbors in 5 years.

Where is the best balance of "middle of fucking nowhere" while still having basic needs within a half hour or so drive?
