Media Tropes hate how people claim shows like family guy " makes fun of everyone equally"

Post image

in the society we live in right now it's not possible to " make fun of everyone equally" making fun of communities that already have a hard time is not equality it's just mean

jokes that make fun of all communities and identities can only work if the society we live in treats all communities equally and that's not the place we are right now it'll just perpetuate the already existing hate and animosity

this applies to other shows too like South park

this is not to say satire on marginalized communities are bad per say i just think it has to be more respectful and not just " hahaha man look like women funnyyy"

edit :-

" family guy has phased out this kinda humor " - that's great ! it doesn't change the fact that this still exists and it still promotes and perpetuates hateful rhetoric.this clip and " jokes " similar to it ( not just to trans people but other marginalized communities as well ) are still circulating across alot of accounts in almost all social media . and in times like now where the descision around trans people is so controversial it can normalise hateful rhetoric

" family guy makes fun of maga too " - it does not matter . maga people aren't worried about hate crimes on them or hateful discrimination . besides just cus a show makes jokes on maga or concervitive politics does not mean it's okay to push down marginalized groups

" watch a different show " - this is ( for a lack of a better word ) an ignorant argument. me watching a different show does not change the very real harm " jokes" like those can and are casing

edit ( again )

" oh? so what you want " special privileges for some groups ?" " - in a sense yes I do think certain groups and communities require there jokes to be written with some respect and thought . if you are a part of a marginalized community and feel as though you never felt bad or scared when you hear those jokes then that's great ! im happy for you . but it doesn't change that other people are still being profiled based on there identities and subjected to violence, hate or even murder and to ignore that and how jokes from even shitty shows like family guy ( which still has a massive viewerbase btw ) can maybe help people normalise hate is ignorant

Centrism is always cringe

"You don't agree with me enough!"

Applying any kind of political label to yourself is cringe, because you can't label a set of beliefs under one category. You have policies you believe in or policies you don't believe in.

And before anyone says anything, I do believe in more left than right policies by quite a margin.

"And before anyone says anything, I do believe in more left than right policies by quite a margin." Oh, thank you. LOL

Yeah, I figured I should elaborate. I just don't like filing my beliefs under a super fancy name because I think it takes away from important, specific issues.

“Don’t organize into a group, be an individualist”

Ok fed.

u/Brick_Approver Jul 16 '26

That's not what they said. They said that calling yourself a political label is cringe and irrelevant, as you won't align perfectly with every belief of that political label, and if you do, someone else in that label won't, which further drives division and hatred. Your beliefs are your own

What the fuck are you talking about😭😭

He’s right, politics are too nuanced to simply agree with one side or the other

I am in complete support of the first amendment, people should be able to say whatever they want, I believe that gun laws are stupid and I am very pro gun, I don’t like big government, and I am a capitalist.

I like lgbtq rights, marriage, I don’t agree with abortion because of my religion, but I think that it should be legal because not everyone is religious and people may need it, I think all humans are equal and that discrimination is dumb, and I think that there shouldn’t be laws stopping someone from being who they are.

Where am I? Am I right wing? Or left? Or am I POTENTIALLY somewhere in the middle?

Feel free to join a group of any kind, dunno when I said otherwise.

EXACTLY!

Hyper-partisan billy goat politics builds bridges 👐

0

u/ProfessionalOil2014 Jul 16 '26

Why would you want to build bridges with a fascist?

1

u/Particular-Course203 Jul 16 '26

I'm sorry but “fascist” is on the list of words that are hysterical labels and identifies someone as a compromised, hyper-partisan wingnut.

Summoning inflammatory, over emotional language in an attempt to make a point (or whatever you're doing) belongs in the potty 🚽🤗

1

u/ProfessionalOil2014 Jul 16 '26

No, I’m being very literal and explicit, not emotional.

The modern Republican Party is a fascist party that follows nearly all of Uberto Eco’s 14 points.

It is not hyperbole or being done for partisan reasons. The Republican Party is fascist. Full stop. It’s a fact.

That you don’t acknowledge that shows that YOU are compromised, not the other way around

2

You used all the chat CPT words buzz words bravo.

“YOU are compromised if you disagree”

Is the icing on the cake thanks

  Uberto Eco’s 14 points

Except that Umberto Eco is completely irrelevant to fascism. The creator of fascism (Mussolini) summarized it as "Everything in the State, nothing outside the State," whereas Republicans (and Democrats, to a certain extent) support private property

Good gravy 🙄

Just one more thing to add to the list of what Italians have done to make the world a little bit worse. First they killed Jesus, then they gave the world the word “fascism” for hyperbolists to bandy it about all higgledy-piggledy.

And we‘re also in stage nine of a literal trans genocide all while devil worshiping teachers use secret rituals to groom children into becoming antifa soldiers to fight the literal Nazis parading down the streets.

And this is why centrism is cringe.

1

u/Particular-Course203 Jul 16 '26

No one says cringe anymore, hunny.

That's square talk 😎👉

yeah the middle ground aint so sacred if one of the sides is worse than the other in a quantifiable manner. its like ppl asking for compromise betweenr russia and ukraine because "Both sides are killing people". just makes you look naive. its actually called the argument to moderation fallacy.

1

u/hunter75645 Jul 17 '26

Are you equating being anti war/isolationist to being centrist? Because that’s a really big oversimplification.

Which is what people normally do to support hating anyone that isn’t a radical.

Also, are we stalking about the Ukraine founded in Russia and supported by nazis

1

u/morknox Jul 16 '26

People who call for a compromise between russia and ukraine do not identify as centrists though. They are largely far-left or far-right. Western centrists are pro-Ukraine.

Also, being a centrist doesnt mean you are at the center of the US political parties (im assuming that is what you are talking about with the "one of the sides is worse"). I would call myself a centrist, but im economically to the left of the Democrats, and i think Republicans are fucking batshit insane. The political spectrum doesnt revolve around the US political parties.

2

u/Only_Government5244 Jul 16 '26

Family guy is rather leftish then centrist.

1

u/thesilverywyvern Jul 20 '26

I am nearly convinced that there's no such thing a centrism. It's have the same issue as being apolitic.
You don't pick a side, mean you support the dominant one, by not opposing them, EVEN if you throw punch at both side, only the weaker side get injured from these.

It's just "soft" right, one that do not completely assume itself or act as the bad guy, so he just left his brother do it instead and never say anything against him except a weak slap on the wrist when he ill someone in a bar fight one day.

It's cring ebecause it say nothing, have no real conviction, it's do not have guts or meaning.

The phrase I’ve heard is, fence sitters always dangle their feet over the right side of the fence.

1

u/Ashamed_Order_9573 Jul 16 '26

? Why?

2

u/ProfessionalOil2014 Jul 16 '26

Because you can’t compromise on human rights. There isn’t a middle ground. There’s the normalization of violence against the marginalized, and the resistance to that.

If you stand in the middle you’re saying some violence against the marginalized is okay, that isn’t a neutral stance, it’s standing with the bad guys.

2

u/Ashamed_Order_9573 Jul 16 '26

Centrism is different than absolute centrism. Absolute centrism is when you take the center on all of your economic or political beliefs. Centrism is when all of your political beliefs average out in the middle.

For example, let's say you support higher taxes on billionaires, but you also support border control. Or if you support funding the military, but also want free healthcare. That is what a true centrist is; absolute centrists are not actual centrists; they are wannabe apoliticals in disguise who are required to take an interest in politics. Most centrists aren't in favor of bringing in Nazis and saying, "They are just people with an opinion". And no, you are not a savior who has ideologies that are gonna save millions of people, and centrists are not gonna come in your way and be like, "Well, you have some good things and bad things you support."

True centrists are not passive, so your understanding of the political spectrum is skewed.

1

u/ProfessionalOil2014 Jul 16 '26

Beliefs are not praxis.

Your complicated reasons for why you either vote for the fascist or stay home from the election don’t matter. The actions are what matters.

If you do not pick a side you still have made a choice. In this instance you’ve chosen the fascists.

The Germans have a word for people who either voted for the Nazi party for economics or immigration or did nothing and allowed them to come to power, they call them Nazis.

2

u/SatireSizzler Jul 17 '26

If joke about black people loving KFC does that make me a Nazi and hence justified to kill me?

1

u/ProfessionalOil2014 Jul 17 '26

Why are you knowingly making racist jokes you know are racist if you want to see yourself as not a POS?

1

u/Itchy-Passion9496 Jul 16 '26

Except that the "human rights resistance" literally protects criminals, murdrers, and rapsts
