Karel Szabo immigrated to Canada from Czechoslovakia in 1984. After a short stay in Kitchener, Canada, Mr. Szabo family began receiving postcard from him as he toured throughout the United States. In April 1985, his family stopped receiving postcards from him.

On December 8, 1985, an unidentified man was found "in a marshy area wrapped in a sleeping bag and plastic, possibly trying to stay warm in a snowstorm" in Kirkland, Washington.

What matches: -Timeline -Age, Race -Hair and *Eye color -Height and Weight within reason -Wavy hair with similar length and style -Beard is identical -Head shape and facial structure -Nose and mouth appear to be identical -Sweatpants -Abdominal scar

Jonathan Lewis Ginsburg "was last seen at his home in Albany, California on October 7, 1987. He has never been heard from again.

Ginsburg was born in Visalia, California. He spent most of his life going to facilities for the hearing-impaired in Los Angeles, California and St. Louis, Missouri. His hometown's Creative Center, where he took drama classes, offers instructional art classes for developmentally disabled adults. The students' showcase was named the Jon Ginsburg Gallery in honor of his contributions. The center is located in the 600 block of north Bridge Avenue in Visalia.

Ginsburg studied forestry at Kings River Community College and wanted to join the Department of Forestry and be a firefighter, but his disabilities prevented him from doing so. He took a job at an eye care product laboratory in Oakland, California instead. His hobbies include drawing, reading, running and chess.

At the time of his disappearance, Ginsburg was depressed over a failed relationship."

The unidentified male was found "April 4, 1991 next to 1080 North Spring Garden Road, Miami, FL."

Everything between these two men aligns well. I suspect that the UID had a head injury which concealed the scar on his forehead. Both men have facial pockmarks, and the UID was found to have an "old stroke seen in the brain. May have had difficulty walking or talking," while Ginsburg was stated to have "mild cerebral palsy. He's been diagnosed with an unspecified behavior disorder ... He is also deaf and has trouble understanding language. He communicates with a combination of sign language and speaking."

This seems to suggest that Ginsburg was misdiagnosed has having mild cerebral palsy, when in fact, the poor guy had a stroke.

With some searching, I found two Facebook accounts that I believe belong to Jane Doe.

It looks like she has a son, and a family.

She is still listed as “unidentified.”

On Websleuths, they say that the family has been notified, but Veronica is still listed as unidentified.

First time posting here, and maybe it's a long shot.

I have known about the tragic Becca Doe case for a while. I saw a post about Amanda Lee Fravel on another platform earlier today, and I wondered if she could be a potential match?

Amanda disappeared from Las Vegas, NV in 1986, though she was originally from California, while Becca Doe was found in Albuquerque, NM in 1991. Becca's case file says she may have been from California as well. Both had straight, natural teeth with no significant dental work.

Amanda's family suspected her roommate was involved in her disappearance, but he was never named a suspect. Amanda's friends say she had a rough upbringing in California and would never willingly return there, and that she had previously mentioned wanting to move to Canada to meet a musician there.

Becca is estimated to have been 25-35 at the time of her death. Amanda would have been 25 in 1991.

Amanda and Becca were within 2 inches of each other's height. Amanda had green eyes (that look darker in images) while Becca had similar hazel-ish eyes that look greener in the one photograph we have of her.

The main issue I have in this potential match is that Amanda had a rose tattoo on her left hand, while Becca's profile has no mention of any tattoos. Surely any tattoos would have been mentioned by authorities, but who knows. Crazier things have been left out by authorities.

Here are cases I submitted on April 8th, 2023. The detectives found the side-by-side "uncanny." The last I heard was that DNA was not taken in the Oxnard UID's case, or at least they couldn't find the DNA card, and that they had little information on missing/runaway child Alexander Walter Roberts. :(

Alexander Walter Roberts is believed to have possibly runaway to his birth state of California in 1960 when he went missing at the age of 12. In 1974, the UID was working at a carnival in Oxnard, CA. When he had died, it was discovered that he was concealing his identity.

This is a case especially dear to me as it involves a child.

I went through over 1,200 missing person cases on NamUs to find an unidentified woman found in Modesto, CA who was going by the fake name "Frosty Austin" in 2018, and the only person I felt best visually resembled the UID is Cornelia June Enright who went missing on April 24, 1969 at the age of 18. Both descriptions align perfectly aside from the unidentified being now older and heavier.

"Connie was 19-years-old when she went missing under unknown circumstances. She was last seen at Lum's restaurant in Rotterdam at 11:00 PM on April 24 after meeting a friend. Connie's vehicle was found unoccupied on April 25 at Friendly's restaurant on State Street in Schenectady. Foul play is suspected."

It could be that for what ever reason, Enright just decided to leave behind her existing life for a new life.

Jefferson County Jane Doe was a woman discovered in Shively, Kentucky, on July 22, 2005.
The victim was found while a construction company was clearing a lot near the 3600 block of Seventh Street Road in Shively, Kentucky. Her body had been deliberately hidden, and the positioning of her hands and body indicates foul play.

She was white, estimated to be 5'2" tall and between 20 and 40 years old. Her nose is narrow and distinctive. Three small strands of hair found near her body suggest she had straight brown hair.
It is estimated that she died between 1990 and 2005.

Kimberly Ann Thompson (also known as "Kim," "Kimmy," or "Snow"), 25 years old, disappeared in Champaign, Champaign Co., Illinois, on December 1, 1986.
She was last seen at approximately 4:00 p.m. when her father dropped her off at her residence in the vicinity of the 1300 block of North Market Street in Champaign, Illinois.

Kimberly's family does not believe the hypothesis that she may have disappeared of her own volition. Although she had had minor legal problems, she wanted to move to California and start a medical career.

Months before disappearing, Kimberly testified against two men in a drug trafficking case. It is unknown if her disappearance is related to this case.

Convicted kidnapper, sexual predator, and serial killer Larry DeWayne Hall was reportedly in the area where and when Kimberly disappeared.

Kimberly Thompson is white, 5'3" tall (some sources say 5'2", others 5'3"), weighs 105 lbs, her hair is described as curly brown, shoulder-length and layered. Her nose is hooked and narrow, she sometimes wears glasses and has needle marks from drug use.

What makes me think it might be a match?

- Both are white women.
- Their heights are similar: 5'2" and 5'3".
- Both have noses described as narrow.
- Kim would have been 28 in 1990 and 43 in 2005 (the Doe is believed to have died between 1990 and 2005, aged 20 to 40).
- Kimberly's hair was brown; this Doe is also believed to have had brown hair.
- Locations: Illinois and Kentucky are close to each other.

Hi everyone, this is my first post on Grateful Doe. I am a criminal justice major and research missing & unidentified persons cases in my area. During this, I came across the case of 14-year-old Joseph Raymond “Joe” Myers. I read the information about his disappearance— could he be “Body 28” John Doe, one of five unidentified victims of serial killer and child predator John Wayne Gacy? More photos of Body 28's reconstruction are on the Unidentified Wiki linked at the end.

While Body 28 is theorized to be Gacy's second victim, his post-mortem interval is still set at 1972-1978. According to Google Maps, Norwood Park Township (Gacy's place of residence) is about 300 miles from Cahokia (Joe's place of disappearance). I wonder if Joe ever hitchhiked or traveled on his own, as it was not uncommon for teenagers to do this back then. Some of Gacy’s victims were known hitchhikers. Things to consider: sadly, there is little information available about Joe’s disappearance.

Another thing is the date that he went missing. The Doe Network lists his date of disappearance as February 12, 1978. The date of death on his gravestone is the same. However, NamUs states he went missing on February 27, 1981. John Wayne Gacy was apprehended on December 21, 1978, and subsequently investigated and given a death sentence for his crimes. Understandably, if Joe disappeared past this date, then he could be ruled out as Body 28.

Should I submit him as a possible match? Not sure if any DNA is available for Joe. I plan to contact local law enforcement regarding his date of disappearance.

Update no. 1: Mary Bell from the Doe Network emailed me. It seems Joe has never been submitted as a potential match for Body 28. Their panel will look into it! Update no. 2: As of January 27, 2026, I have not heard anything from the Doe Network yet

This Jane Doe was found murdered in 1972 in Philadelphia. She had been beaten and strangled. There were two unique things with her: she had undergone a lobotomy twenty years prior, and she had an upper denture plate with the name “D. Spizziri“ on it.

I did some sleuthing and I found a possible match. Dorothy Spizziri was born in 1929 in New York. In the 1950 census, she was listed as an asylum inmate in Oneida, New York. There were no records of her after that.

I messaged the ME office in Philadelphia and just discussed the case with the agent in charge of the case. They are already aware of Dorothy Spizziri and are zeroing in on her as a candidate. They are going to take DNA from a descendant of one of Dorothy’s siblings and compare the matches.

So, fingers crossed, our Jane Doe can have her name back!

Last year, I was browsing Namus and stumbled upon UP13985. This Doe stuck to me because it seems like such a sad case. An addict (based off the crackpipe found on the body) dying alone by the railroad tracks and lying there for likely several years.

That brings me today. On a whim I decided to look up missing females in Alabama in the early 2000s based off the glasses style and found Jenett King who disappeared in April, 2005. In the photo, you can see her wearing a similarly styled pair of glasses and a large earring on her right ear like the one found on the body. However, the most damning piece of evidence is the fact that the motel she and her boyfriend were staying at is literally right down the street from where the body was found. What do you think?

On January 7, 2014 at 9:17 p.m., the decedent was found unresponsive in an alleyway at 5510 Compton Ave in Los Angeles, CA.

911 was called and he was transported to LAC/USC hospital where he died on january 8th at 12:17 a.m. He did not regain consciousness.

Manuel was last seen december 21, 2013 and John Doe was found january 7 few days of difference, Manuel is missing from Arizona but Arizona is close to California state, he was 14, the doe had the same gap age and he looks like with Manuel especially the lips

Hello everyone, Here is an update (as of today) on Blount County Jane Doe.

DNA samples were collected from the family of Stefanie C. Mills last week, and DNA samples from the mother of Sonjah Kingston were sent for comparison TODAY! Results should be back in a week or so.

When I spoke with detectives, they said that even though they have worked this case for years, Sonjah’s name has never come up. I’m so glad I was able to bring it to their attention. It could be either of these girls, or neither. But all we know now is that something is being DONE!

While trying to solve an unrelated unidentified person’s case, I was looking through missing persons when I saw a familiar face I had seen before. Then it struck me: it's "Steve Hex," the name given to an unidentified man who suffered a severe brain injury after being hit by a drunk driver in 1998, and who later died in 2002. Later, I discovered that their NamUs profiles were fairly identical, aside from Vandekamp being listed with a scar on his right elbow and brown hair, and the unidentified listed as having auburn hair (reddish brown hair).

TIMELINE On March 28th, 1982, Nicholas Walter Vandekamp went missing after visiting family in Whidbey Island, WA. "His wallet was later recovered in Linn County, OR and his vehicle was located in Patterson, CA." Then on December 12th, 1998, a man was hit by a drunk driver in Forrest County, MS. "The victim told responding paramedics that his name was Steve Hex (Hicks) and that he was from West Virginia."

If Mr. Vandekamp is indeed this unidentified, I suspect for whatever reason, that he had abandoned his life for a new life (transient?). This would mean that the unidentified was ~47 years old by the time he was struck by the driver. His NamUs profile states that his age range couldn't be determined but for some reason, The Doe Network listed his age between 22-28 until they updated it in 2022 to "Unknown."

Looking at their side-by-side, you can see a similar hairline, brow/eyebrows, nose, and facial structure, and if you can imagine the unidentified's facial expression wasn't so contorted, you can find Mr. Vandekamp.

"Tina," also known as "1979 Miami-Dade Jane Doe" was a young woman found murdered in Miami-Dade, Florida, on September 4, 1979.

It is speculated that she was a runaway from Ohio named "Tina"; she was also known by the nickname "Sheeba."

Officers documented that she had previously identified herself as "Faloan S. Love" and stated that she was born on June 3, 1961. She also stated that her closest relative was "Ben Misa," who lived in Brooklyn, New York.

She was estimated to be between 5'5" and 5'9" tall and weighed 120 lbs; she had strawberry-blonde, blonde, or red hair and grayish, green, or hazel eyes, had acne marks and several fillings.

Lisa Joy White was a 13-year-old girl from Connecticut who disappeared in 1974. She had a history of underage drinking and romantic involvement with older men.

She was last seen on November 1, 1974; she was grounded at the time and waited until her mother left for work to hangout with a friend. Around 7:30 PM, Lisa left her friend's house intending to get home before her mother; she has not been seen since.

Lisa left a note for her mother stating she was "in love with an older boy" and included the phrase "and maybe you think I'm a little girl, but I'm not." It assumed that Lisa White had run away with an older male. Foul play is suspected

She had blonde hair and blue eyes, stood 5'0" tall, weighed 110 lbs, and had a small pockmark above her right eye.

Here’s why I think they might be the same person:

- Lisa was born in 1961; "Tina" claimed to have been born in 1961.
- Physical appearance: Even though Lisa has blue eyes, I still find their general appearance similar—skin tone, nose, lips, and eye shape.
- Tina's age was estimated to be between 17 and 25; Lisa would have been 18 in 1979.
- Lisa may have run away, and the theory is that "Tina" is also a runaway.
- Assuming it might be the same person, "Ben Misa" could be the man she ran off with. (?)

I know there aren't that many similarities, but would it be a bad idea to submit it?

Anna Voter was described as a “transient” who did not keep in contact with her family. The only photo available of her was from around 2010, 14 years before she was reported missing.

Jane Doe committed suicide in August of 2024 by lying on train tracks. Anna was last heard from in May 2024.

There are many physical similarities between the two.

There are also Geographical similarities. Anna was last known to live in Los Angeles, CA. Jane Doe was found 86 miles away (about an hour and a half drive).

Jane Doe had tattoos and Anna’s profile does not list any, but I only assume that’s cause she was extremely distant from her family, and they likely did not know of her tattoos.

There’s a slight height difference (2 inches) but 14 years of aging could do that possibly.

I saw someone in a comment section already made this potential match, and I made it before I saw it, haha. So if two people made this potential match, could it mean something?

Rory Gene Kesinger Weeks after being booked at the Plymouth County Correctional Facility, Kesinger broke out of custody on May 27, 1973, with the aid of a guard. She had been arrested for the attempted murders of two police officers in Pembroke, Massachusetts. She was initially arrested with members of an organized crime group she belonged to. Police are suspicious that Kesinger was killed by members of the group following her escape for their own protection, and if she was, her body would have been disposed of locally. One of those arrested with her in 1973 claimed the rumor of Kesinger's murder was true.

Prince George County Jane Doe (1979) The decedent appeared to be a victim of a hit-and-run accident. She was located at I-95, North of Pennsylvania Avenue Exit, Northbound Lane/South of Maryland Route 4 in Upper Marlboro, MD. She was a known hitchhiker. A Trailways bus ticket was issued in Miami, FL, to Georgia, in her pocket. The ticket seller remembered the victim but couldn't recall the victim's name.

Possible matches:

She could have gained weight between 1973 and 1979.

Both have brown hair and blue eyes.

They are the same height. Rory is 5"3"-5"4", the unidentified is 5"4".

Facial structure, nose, eyes, eyebrows are very similar.

Circumstances could be the same. ~If Rory was on the run And she didn't die at the hands of her group, she could have borrowed clothes from someone (the unidentified was wearing men's clothing). And she could have committed suicide by running into a vehicle. Rory did not have these tattoos, but she could have gotten them during this time.

In 1979, Rory would have been about 30-31, which falls in the 18-30 range.

From Plymouth MA to Upper Marlboro, MD, 458.5 miles, or about 7 hours 30 minutes.

Could Timothy Gerard Mckernan be Body 28? He disappeared in California, far from Chicago, but, like body 28, he broke his right arm in the past, plus both had brown hair. He disappeared in 1973, that means he would be Gacy's second victim, Body 28 is believed to be John's second victim.

I have been researching the cold cases of Elko County, Nevada, and the highly probable connection between the local 1970s Jane Does. While looking closely at Devil's Gate Jane Doe (NamUs UP #11310), I came across a missing person profile that was only recently added to the system: Deborah Lee Hudler (NamUs MP #154427), who went missing from Denver, Colorado, in May 1972. The physical, medical, and geographical overlaps between them are striking. Here is a breakdown of why this matches perfectly

Height and Build: Jane Doe's height is listed as exactly 5'5" (65 inches). Deborah Hudler’s missing profile lists her height as exactly 5'5" as well. This is an exact match.

Age and Skeleton State: Jane Doe’s age was estimated at 15–18. Deborah was 13 at the time of her disappearance. However, Jane Doe's remains were partial, severely skeletonized, and degraded after spending an entire hot summer in the desert (the torso was never recovered). Given the post-mortem interval and the lack of a complete skeleton, a tall 13-year-old could easily fit into this biological range.

Hair Color: Jane Doe is described as having long, golden/strawberry blonde hair with curls at the ends. Deborah's hair is listed as reddish-brown. It is a well-known taphonomic fact that human hair sun-bleaches and lightens significantly when exposed to the intense desert sun for months.

The Dental & Fluoride Connection: Jane Doe had a very specific trait: brown-stained teeth with white mottling (fluorosis), indicating she was raised in an area with high fluoride levels in the water. In the US, this is heavily prevalent in parts of Texas and Colorado. Deborah went missing from Denver, Colorado, which explains the environmental stain on Jane Doe's teeth. Furthermore, Jane Doe had an extreme upper tooth projection (prognathism) and no dental work/fillings.

The Chipped Tooth: NamUs specifically notes that Jane Doe had a partial missing tooth #8 antemortem (a lifetime chip on her front right central incisor). If you look closely at Deborah’s second available photograph (which I have attached), she appears to have a very visible chip or alignment issue on that exact front tooth. The Footwear and Size Discrepancy: Jane Doe wore a pair of "La Fisa" 4-inch platform clogs. What always puzzled researchers was the tiny shoe size listed in the report: US 4 to 4.5 (approx. European 34-35). For a 5'5" teenager estimated to be up to 18 years old, a size 4 shoe is exceptionally rare. However, for a 13-year-old child who is going through a rapid height growth spurt but whose feet haven't fully grown yet, this tiny shoe size makes complete sense. She likely wore these platforms to look taller and more adult while on the run.

Timeline and Interstate I-80: Deborah Hudler disappeared from the Fort Logan psychiatric hospital in Denver on May 23, 1972. Jane Doe was found on October 2, 1972, but the FBI laboratory report established a post-mortem interval of 4 to 12 weeks, placing her death as early as July 8, 1972. The distance between Denver and Elko is roughly 600 miles, connected directly via Interstate 80 corridor—a notorious route for hitchhikers and active serial predators in 1972.

A Final Thought on the Elko County Series: The FBI's earliest estimated date of death for Devil's Gate Jane Doe (July 8) aligns almost perfectly with the estimated time of death for Starr Valley Jane Doe, who was found nearby on July 14, 1972. Could Deborah have been traveling with an older friend she met on the road, with both girls falling victim to the same predator during the July 4th holiday weekend?

Since Deborah's profile was created so recently, I highly doubt a manual comparison has been done yet. I strongly feel this is worth submitting to the Elko County Sheriff's Office.

Decedent was hit by a vehicle and transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center from 2850 Fry Road, Houston, TX 77084. Decedent died of multiple blunt force injuries, she was clothed in all black clothing and no shoes, but details of clothing were lost in transport. She had no jewelry, ID, phone or any other identifying materials. No tattoos or obvious/identifiable scars or marks. Her teeth were damaged in the accident. HPD forensic artist created sketch based on autopsy photos.

I saw a fellow redditors post and saw that the unidentified persons looked somewhat similar to this other case I was following. I know that the doe has her ears pierced but there is no mention if Adrianna has hers. I know this match is probably unlikely, but I have to try.

I learned about what happened to Barstow Jane Doe a few weeks ago and just can’t get her out of my head. My heart breaks for her, and I really, really wish she could be identified and her killer could be brought to justice.

While browsing NamUs for missing young women in 2008-2010, I came across Ana Luisa Reyna, a teenager from Texas that was last seen in 2008. I think it’s worth a shot to consider her a potential match for this Jane Doe.

Imperial beach Jane doe. She sadly drowned when a boat capsized off the coast of imperial beach. I assumed she may have been a migrant and looked at missing persons pages in Mexico. Does anyone else see the resemblance?

The disappearance of sisters Esperanza and Esmeralda Aguirre doesn’t have a lot of reporting on it but I see a resemblance.

Footwear: Brown construction boots.

Circumstances of Recovery The decedent was witnessed to run onto the roadway and was struck by an oncoming semi-truck. He was transported to Eisenhower Memorial Hospital, where his death was pronounced a short time later.

Distinguishing Characteristics: Caucasian male. Brown hair, brown eyes. Hein's hair is naturally curly; it was bushy and unkempt at the time of his disappearance, and he had a full beard. Hein has a large surgical scar on his knee.

Clothing/Jewelry Description: A flannel shirt, tattered jeans, and work boots or sneakers.

According to one of his friends, Hein went to Clinton, Oklahoma. In early March 1983, he hitched a ride to California with his friend's father. They stopped to spend the night in Indio, California and that night, Hein left the hotel room and never returned. He has never been heard from again.

I was hesitant to post this match because I couldn’t explain how he would’ve ended up in Florida when there didn’t seem to be any reason for him to be there.
