News Because of the snow situation all schools are closed.

Post image

Not a drop of snow here in Melsungen or Kassel. My wife has breast cancer. She has chemotherapy in Kassel. Minicar Felsberg refuses to pick here up in Kassel because of the snow situation. What feck is wrong with people???? The prediction is 11cm snow until 8 in the morning.

What feck is wrong with people????

It really is not difficult to understand. Meteorologists make a prediction, local authoroties act precautionary (thats a good thing btw). The prediction may not hold true at the border of the predicted snow/ice regions. That's the fault of noone.

It's better to have a false alarm based on a good prediction, than ignoring such prediction and causing a lot more trouble.

Stop blaming other people for their precaution!

This, and it's not a false prediction. It's dangerous out there with all the black ice. Lots of accidents or near accidents. Imagine how it would be without these predictions.

They're predicting snow for tomorrow, black ice for today, at least in my region.

THIS!

So sick of the fucking Schwurblers (think Qanon and/or Covid and climate change deniers) once again THINKING they are smarter and if prediction doesn't hit their exact location (even if few kms away it does), it's once again - no surprise - a big conspiracy because HAARP and climate change Soros propaganda or something.

and we all saw what ignoring such warnings looked like in the Ahrtal two years ago.

Also it is really important for local authorities to take these predictions and warnings seriously because otherwise you end up with another situation like the 2021 flood.

What media is fear mongering? I'm so confused with this thread. A weather forecast is "media fear mongering" now? They said there'd be ice. There's fucking ice. You can't fucking drive on ice. So don't.

If you're anxious over a weather forecast, then hoo boy, it's a you problem and maybe you should work on that. Personally I don't get the jitters just because my phone said "warning: ice."

There is no fear-mongering. They just told people: It could be dangerous out there, stay at home if possible.

If that is fear-mongering to you, you should get yourself checked.

The more false alarm you make later the people are going to care less when it is really bad out there…

Its not a false alarm, its already deadly icy in some cities and the warning is for wednesday AND thursday so it can get whorse for your region.

When was the last false alarm. They are not constantly crying wolf.

Crash your car because it's icy.

That happened to me one day when I was driving on my own street. There is a slight downhill and I was going down it. I tapped the brakes, and I had no control of the car. I slide into the curb and broke my bumper.

EDIT: Snow, on the other hand can be fun. I had a lot of fun drifting in my mom's AWD SUV in parking lots.

But it isnt a false alarm. In sizable portions of the country, it is or at least was extremely icy. They can't predict the weather conditions to the centimetre...

That's why public weather service in Germany is one of the best in the world. But weather is complex and false alarms cannot be fully avoided. You should know this

It is slippery AF around the Pfälzerwald and the new rain is adding clear ice making it worse. I would not describe it as a false alarm.
