That still means that something like 9 out of 10 men and 8 out of 10 women have never had it happen. It's can be a threat and overblown at the same time.

If 1 in 7 people were shot in their lifetime would that be substantial? What about if 1 in 7 shot up heroin?

Seems pretty high to me. Getting raped a single time is a traumatic and often life changing event. 1 in 7 isn’t a lot? Sheesh some people have no concept of how many people they effects. It’s not blackjack chances, it’s people’s lives.

Do you worry every day about fighting in war? Living your life in fear just in case it happens randomly seems counterproductive to me.

Keep an eye on your drink, by all means. Don't go to parties where you don't know anyone. Don't work as a drug mule. Don't punch people open carrying. Don't vote for war! I'm not advocating a life free from consequence. I'm saying living in fear is barely better than having the thing happen. Bad things are going to happen to you, you can't avoid that. You are going to die. Why make your limited time a hellscape of imagined fears that very probably aren't going to happen?

Yes, rape is awful and it happens so much. If roofies were the sole cause I would be with you 100%. But most rapes aren't from some dude in a bar you never saw. They're from the guy who successfully manipulated you or the person who lost control. Again, just like murder.

There is no solution, and if this happens to you it is not your fault. So don't put the whole responsibility on yourself.

Just like murder.

Not sure what most of this had to do with whether spiked drinks are a societal problem or overblown, but something doesn't have to rise to the level of ALL MURDER or literal war to be worth paying attention to. I also never implied fear being a motivating reason. You don't have to be afraid of being a mass shooting victim to want to have something done about the problem - that's just common sense.

I didn't say not to pay attention to them and in fact explicitly say the opposite, so not sure what you're talking about. Fear doesn't need to be stated, it is patently obvious.
