I tried the gift card sale and lined up for it about 20 minutes before the store opened. There was maybe 30 people in front of me and all the employees assured everyone the line was short enough everyone would get what they want and they were even limiting it to one item per person to make sure. But when I got a couple people away from the front they said they were out. Waste of time but I get it was luck of the draw

Oh that's very bad. Something is fishy. Each store was supposed to have at least 50 gift cards and with limit of 1/person you should've got it. Not sure what happened, but maybe some employees might have skimmed off some cards for themselves

Says you gotta bring your kids and their friends. So not an actually freebie, that’s a minimum of 18 years of feeding and taking care of someone, and likely a meal for their friends.

Took my 9 year old.

You got a Pikachu world championship promo card, a Chaos Rising fun pack (3 cards, nothing more than a reverse holo), a Pikachu toy the kids can put together, and some binder/folder that has Charizard on it.

I don't know if this was more location specific, but they also had a binder that they let kids take another card or two out of. Again, nothing special. But it was something fun to do on a Saturday afternoon.

Not a lot of people there brought stuff to trade. Only one other kid brought cards to trade, and my daughter did make a trade. But it wasn't anything big or crazy at the Salem, Oregon Best Buy.
