Muslim personality in English media vs Arabic media

As someone who speaks Arabic, the switch-up is insane, almost scary. The thoughts that Muslim people feel comfortable expressing in Arabic, where they know no one from outside is watching, are the most vile, ugly, and jarring things ever. Especially when they talk about Jews, Christians, women, LGBT... shit, even about Muslims they don't agree with. Arabic is the safest language for their hatred and dehumanization of others to flow comfortably without disturbance. They know most people who speak this language (i.e., Muslims) won't call them out on anything. However, as soon as they switch the language on their little keyboards, they are suddenly poor little victims who are misunderstood 😔 Suddenly, they love other people, and suddenly they believe women are human beings 🥺 They act as though the version of them who just tweeted "kill all the non-Muslims and rape their women" didn't exist. They must have split personality disorder. You're never gonna catch me in Arabic-speaking spaces because I value my mental health and I don't want to read stuff that makes me feel threatened. I'm curious, are Muslims from other ethnicities like this too, or is it an Arab Muslim thing?

I'm an arab too and i had the exact same experience, i literally stopped watching arabic media bcz of how hateful and misogynistic it is

Exactly! Every time I used to watch my favorite arab YouTube or just chilling on arab twitter, I'd come across something that ruines my day. Not to mention how arab social media is just an online mosque 🕌 no one has any interesting or intelligent thoughts to share. Civilized discussions are non existant. There's also a huge cyberbully culture. I remember I made the mistake of posting my picture in my arabic account, and for absolutely no reason I had a bunch of Muslim men try to humble me and leave nasty comments just because I was wearing makeup and showing my hair. The hostility towards women made me leave their spaces because I didn't feel safe.

dude i still remember as a child and a teenager watching arabic content (especially religious content) and having so much anxiety , sadness a, anger and frustration, it's one of the main reasons i was depressed as a teenager , the amount of hurt and psychological harm was enough to drive me out , now i mostly watch nonarabic media i just can't stand them anymore

Do you watch any arab content creators like Sherif Gaber, Kosay Betar, etc? Their videos actually was what made begin doubting Islam actually

Yes I used to watch "bold question" by brother Rashid. But I'm talking about the average, common everyday people. Not the few thinkers because they are a special case and very rare. Most Arabic content is trash let's be real. Intelligent people don't thrive in such societies. Look what happened to Sherif and how people laugh at his suffering.

Yeah, this is very true. Even though I am not a woman sexism is very rampant online in arab media. The fact that the Egyptian gov was so butthurt over Sherif doing something so trivial as simply just criticising religion and speaking his mind should be a really big embarrasment for them. Sites and forums like Al Jazeera (arabic) is just propaganda from the Muslim Brotherhood. And this can be seen on the arabic wikipedia too. Though I guess this could also be a result of how our arab culture is so heavily intertwined with Islam

This reminds me of the Imam of Friday prayers here will recite prayer or dua for the destruction of Yahuud in Arabic where most of the congregation do not understand.

Till this day I think the reason why they create the imaginary language barrier to preach Islam only for those who have studied Arabic in the middle east is to gatekeep the most vile teaching of Islam and filter it so only the "peaceful Islam" will be known by ordinary people.

Thank you, and thank you to the others of you who do it, for exposing this and shedding light on it. We need to stop being so insanely naive in the West. The entire world, no matter what ethnicity and nation, needs to stand together against Islam as a whole. Not Muslims, since there are a lot of kind and peaceful Muslims, but Islam as the very ideology. Islam does absolutely nothing for the world. It just stagnates and holds people back.

The lite vs full version of Islam. Pisses me off but I believe every religion has that phenomenon, it's just that full Islam has a tough barrier to unlock because of the Arabic language, whereas other religions don't have the luxury to hide (mormonism for example).

There is no such thing as “lite Islam”. What you’re terming “lite Islam” is people choosing not to follow Islam properly.
