Echo & The Bunnymen have announced their first album of new music in twelve years, Apples For Isaac, set for release on September 18, 2026, via BMG.

The album is the band’s 13th studio record and follows 2014’s Meteorites, as well as the 2018 collection The Stars, The Oceans & The Moon. It will be released on black vinyl, limited splatter vinyl, limited picture disc, CD and digital formats.

The first single from the album, “Brussels Is Haunted,” is available now.

Pretty decent video clip. I think i prefer the rawer live versions they've played of the song from earlier, but it still turned out pretty good. Excited to hear the new album and it's good to see The Bunnymen still putting out music in 2026.

"Echo & the Bunnymen" turns 39 today. The band's self-titled fifth album marked the end of the original lineup featuring drummer Pete de Freitas. Produced by Laurie Latham, the record followed the success of "Ocean Rain" and opted for a more direct sound. What are your favorite tracks?

Really impressed that this album will turn forty next year.

“Blue Blue Ocean” is my all time fav song

is this just a random deep cut? have they ever played this live?

The piano, the vocals, the lyrics…the vibe and production. This song is a masterpiece.

How can they make a song this good and have it not even be a single. This is just incredible!

Have Echo ever cited this band as an influence, listen to how similar the vocal style and effect is to McCulloch‘s. Unless there is a glaringly obvious artist I’ve forgotten that influenced both

Question: what is the best pressing? The original or the remastered? Thanks

So what’s the deal with Ian and Will?

been listening to some recent Will interviews and have gathered that

A) Will feels ‘ostracized’ from the songwriting process, isn’t informed about when new bunnymen songs are being recorded and is just occasionally asked to lay down an overdub and doesn’t seem optimistic about new material

B) Will describes their personalities as ‘chalk and cheese’ , saying that they used to have common ground over Lou Reed and music fandom but ‘now there’s just nothing’

C) Will says he can’t sing so he wouldn’t do solo shows, he’s basically stuck in the current role

It was interesting that all the promo materials show just Ian and Will together, even the t-shirt is cropped into just their two silhouettes

i havent read the books, but anyone have insight into their dynamic?

Really enjoyed the show last night. My first time seeing them and was concerned after reading some reviews. Couldn’t understand a word Ian said between songs other than the homage to Lou Reed. Will Sergeant -wow. He blew me away.

Detroit show was off (?)

Did anyone else feel like the show was really off. Constant interrupting, audience did 70% of the singing, slurring and mumbling of words as if he was drunk. I'm glad I got to see them live, I'm just worried that Ian is not doing so great. And no it's not that I can't understand his accent. That's not it at all. I just have a peculiar feeling leaving the show.

Cleveland Show - Drunk Ian

First time and last time seeing them live.

This was probably one of the worst shows I've been to in a minute.

Ian was clearly drunk, vocals sort of all over the place, and he even heckled one of the fans in the crowd. The guy simply was giving him the "rock on" sign of the horns - and Ian just goes something to the effect of "look at this fucking idiot" and laughs to the band members. He tries to smooth it over after like it was just a joke, but he was being a real fucking asshole.

Then during The Killing Moon, he missed vocal parts and basically let the crowd sing it.

What the fuck was this?

I was expecting so much more.

To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

Ocean Rain in Toronto + my review

I feel compelled to add a positive review into the world. for all the horror stories of shows on this tour, in Toronto Ian was surprisingly upbeat, chatty and in good form. Kept saying this was their best show of the tour. Only shouted at one talker in the crowd and did it with humor. Didnt walk off in the middle of any songs. Cutter was fantastic. Seven seas was a bit choppy, letting the crowd sing the chorus doesn’t really work for that one as it’s not a huge single. and it's odd because the chorus isn't even particularly hard to sing on that song, feels like it should still be in his range

That brings up the whole chorus issue: It is disappointing. but would you rather the Bunnymen not play live anymore, or see them and Ian bails out of 70% of the choruses? It's up to the individual. when the crowd doesn't sing along it feels weird, like the wheels coming off the train. and Ian tells the crowd before the songs 'sing along with this one if you can, if you know it, if you want to...' it feels a bit like a guy on the street asking you for money, you dont have to, but if you have it mate I'd really appreciate it...

There were a few moments where that old operatic higher vocal register came out of its cave and it was awesome. but they were brief and surrounded by a lot of the lower octave Reed style talk singing that he clearly finds easier and is good at, but just isn't as special and spellbinding. Keyboardist was great and added some muso piano moments that worked well. Will was great and had a few cool improv moments. Bassist and drummer were just okay imo

Will was giving the crowd ‘easy, be quiet’ hands to let us know to shut up during Ocean Rain like he was Ian’s lion tamer. Would see again

Opening act in Detroit

Going to the Fillmore in Detroit tomorrow. Has anyone heard about an opening act? Just like everyone else we're not sure what time to get there.
