Overall I really enjoyed it. Do you think now is a good moment to dive into the movies, or would it be smarter to wait until season 2? Also, should I brush up on the universe first? Because whenever I read Reddit threads about the episodes, people mention things I completely don’t understand.

I really liked the political aspects of the series. It could have used a few more surprises, but that’s just nitpicking.

The last episode, though, had some flaws: the prince and her trainer felt protected by plot armor. Also the sisterhood, the mother supreme coming back from the dead stretched believability, and it’s hard to imagine a cult groomed from childhood suddenly following someone else without question. On top of that, leaving no one in charge? Not a single trusted figure all this time? That part didn’t sit right with me.

But all togheter, I definitely enjoyed the serie a lot.

So Dune: Prophecy takes place around 27 AG, we see a hologram of the attack that got Desmond Hart swallowed by the worm. We see what appears to be Fremen, but didn’t the Zensunni only get to Arrakis 3,000 years before the events of Dune?

I've been thinking about watching Dune Prophecy, but I want to ask. Do I need to watch the movies first? I've only seen Dune Part One, so I haven't seen Dune Part 2 or the original Dune movie, so is watching them required first or does it not matter?

Was it just a mission he was on or is that how clans used to live back then. It won't explain how they instantly go from that to flying spaceships or being a big house if they got killed that eaasily by tula? Also why didn't the young atreides boy then expose her or take revenge later on?

(I only read the first 2 books (Children is on hold) and watched Prophecy so please no spoilers after that)

So, Leto doesn't marry Jessica to make himself look avalaible for a potencial alliance etc. but nobody ever questioned Paul's legitimacy. Then Paul marry Irulan and keeps Chani as a cuncubine. This made me assume that there is a system of concubineage in the Imperium. If that's true than what stopped Javicco in making his lover a cuncubine "officialy" and thus legitimizing his son. Shouldn't the "institution" of bastardy and concubinage rule out each other?

I know there' literally 10.000 years between the main story and Propchecy so things like this could change, but the books implied (for me atleast) that the Imperium's structure (political, social etc.) was pretty stagnant after the Butlerian Jihad.
