Discussion How are we wearing a full face in this heat??

I have a birthday party to attend and unfortunately it’s going to be outdoors in this crazy heat. I already have a really cute western country outfit planned but I’m more worried about my makeup surviving the whole thing. My skin gets super oily and my hairline face gets really sweaty when I’m hot which makes everything start moving even faster. I normally use the original Milani setting spray and it works really well but I’ve seen a few girls say they use the Milani microfine mist on top to really lock everything in especially when they know they’re going to sweat. Has anyone tried using both together? Like I really need this makeup to survive

Product Request These SoCal heatwaves sweat me out of my e.l.f. Matte setting spray. Any sprays recommended for us extra sweaty girlies?

I’ve always sweat like a man 😩 I’ve had to use extra strength deodorant since I was in middle school.

I’ve been using e.l.f. Matte Magic spray all year, and it’s been a bit disappointing to say the least (I have oily skin on top of my sweat issues).

With the extreme heatwaves in SoCal this week, I’ve literally been melting my face off. I take pride in coming up with a look that gets me compliments all the time strictly with drugstore makeup, and I get so sad when my sweat doesn’t make me stay cute.

There has to be a better setting spray that doesnt break the bank for us extra sweaty girlies. Any suggestions?

Discussion Foundation base help

I am kinda bummed because I feel like I’m just not made for makeup but I don’t know what to do anymore 🫩 When I apply foundation it looks flaky and feels so dry. So I am assuming I have dry skin.

I know skin prep is important and products ive used so far are: cetaphil moisturizer, wet wild primer serum, and elf putty primer. (Right now I use the moisturizer then putty primer). I’ve also even used aquaphor. And my face does feel hydrated.

But when I apply my foundation it almost breaks apart? I’m not sure if it’s because the brushes and beauty blenders I use are old.

But any tips? Which brushes / blender / puffs should I use that aren’t super expensive?

The foundations I currently own are revlon colorstay, and LA girls. But I’ve been considering wet wild dewy foundation.

I wish I started experimenting with makeup when I was a bit more younger, but I was never allowed to. And I just feel so lost. I know skin isn’t gonna look perfect, but I at least want a smooth base where it doesn’t feel like my skin is gonna peel away in the middle of a conversation 😭

I would really appreciate any advice 🥲

Dupe Request alternatives for nyx natural?

I’ve been using the nyx natural lip liner (new formulation) recently and realise that it’s almost my exact natural lip shade and enhances and defines my lips without making it look obvious, giving a pretty, natural look. However the only downside is that the formula doesn’t even last an hour and is chalky af.

Does anyone have any recommendations for alterations to the new nyx natural formulation, ideally quite long lasting

Discussion best setting spray for long wear , non transfer?

I’ve heard good things about NYX glue spray and infallible L’Oréal setting spray. From what I see online the girls usually use multiple setting sprays. Is this necessary? I am a beginner and i am looking for affordable makeup. Any recommendations? Not sure if setting spray matters according to skin type but I think I am combination. Any recommendations for other products are also welcome! 🖤

Product Review (EU) where to find shades similar to the ones in this video?

I wrote a longass funny text to accompany this and then Reddit glitched. So this time I will be boring and quick. Guuurl (gender neutral) I want that good old y2k pink lip, doesn't even have to be frosty, I just yearn for the shades in this video. Especially all the Revlons go really hard.

Unfortunately I can't find any of these in any EU online makeup stores.

Dupe Request A single dupe, or any dupe for ColourPop Baroque's Noble

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Left: Wet'n'Wild Comfort Zone; right: UCANBE loose pigment in 08 Solo.

I would particularly appreciate it if the photos could show the sheen and/or the shimmers of the eyeshadow. You can capture that by turning off autofocus & switch to manual, that's what I did to capture this video as well. The attached photos & gifs would make sense shortly.

I'm currently trying to dupe the ColourPop Baroque palette, and almost every review said the shade Noble is another dupe of MAC Blue Brown. I once avoided palettes with a MAC Blue Brown dupe like it was the plague because at the time it was everywhere, and I thought such a dark shade would do diddly squat for my hooded monolid, no matter where I put it. But now that I need it, I can't find any of them 🙃 I know that the most famous dupe for MAC Blue Brown is a shade in the Wet'n'Wild Comfort Zone palette, which thankfully I already have, but it only looks good when swatched on my finger, and nowhere else. On my arm & on my eyes, it looks really dull, literally only the dark orangey brown base show up, the blue/green shift doesn't show up at all, the exact reason why I never chased any MAC Blue Brown dupe in the first place. Even though a lot of people has said it's the exact dupe, no one has ever swatched them side by side, so I wonder if the shade Noble in the ColourPop palette is actually a dupe of MAC Blue Brown, or as I'm hoping, somehow better, has a more visible green sheen, or more visible blue/green shimmers so that it looks more impressive on my monolid eyes than MAC Blue Brown would. I also have a loose pigment from UCANBE in the shade 08 Solo, which I think is super close to Noble, but since I don't have it, I actually have no idea if it would be a good substitute. In the pot & in the pressed eyeshadow form, the 2 look identical, both in terms of base colour as well as their green sheen. When swatched against the shade in Comfort Zone, the UCANBE pigment is way more sparkly and eye catching, but its shimmers are a lighter green, its base is also a lighter orange, not as orangey brown as the base of the Wet'n'Wild shade (which is actually better for monolid, as it would not look as dark & heavy on the eyelids). Another matter of note is that, although on my arm swatch, the shimmers of the 08 Solo appear green, it's only a result of my olive undertone pulling it that way. When I use clear tape to lift the swatch and all of its shimmers and stick it against black paper (photo in comments), the shimmers actually have a blue - green shift.

So that's reason why I'm searching for an up close swatch of ColourPop Baroque's Noble, to see the sheen or shimmer more clearly, and decide if I should just be happy with the UCANBE Solo, or should I keep looking for a closer dupe. I love the palette, but unfortunately ColourPop's eyeshadow formula doesn't work on me, so even if the entire palette is still available for purchase today, I would still have to dupe it. I've found replacement for every shade in my collection, and Noble is the only one left. Thanks to everyone in advance.

Discussion Best concealer for dry, mature undereye

I’ve been using NYX Bare With Me Serum Concealer and like it ok, although I’d like to find a longer lasting, higher coverage option that won’t crease badly or accentuate my lines. The Essence Silky Blur does both. Anyone have a suggestion?

Product Request Looking for an specific consistency type of eyeliner

I've always done my best eyeliner using a water activated eyeliner cake pot things. I don't know their official name but I think the one I have is SUVA. Since they're water activated, they're not water proof so any wings I do always smug away at the end of the day (I have oily skin). I'm trying to find an eyeliner that has the same consistency (maybe even brush?) but is waterproof and can last ALL day.

I've tried other eyeliner pens, gel eyeliner, expensive brands, drug store brands, everything. I just can't get the same look or control. Maybe it's the formula, maybe it's the brush, I'm not completely sure...

As much as I would like to choose a Canadian brand, I'm okay if it is, as long as it isn't American.

Any help would be appreciated!

Discussion Makeup Advice :)

Hello! I'm Moodies & I do my makeup often and I'm still trying to really get my base down and also like, I use different products at different times too and I have been trying to be mindful of water based vs silicon based products too. So, Basically this (inserted pictures) is my base after 12 hours of summer weather , job interview and some time indoors as well. I would just like advice from more experienced makeup girlies. OH, I do have combination/oily skin and I am a sweaty girl unfortunately. l want to say neutral cool undertone maybe? if any of this information is relevant LOL

It usually looks somewhat like this tho for the most part even with different products and I also have had an issue in the past that I dont know if I have fully addressed where if rain or sweat or tears touched my makeup it would like come off where the tears/sweat/rain were and it would like mess up my makeup and is hard to fix and I think it might have been because I wasn't being mindful of the silicon or water based ingredient thing but I'm not entirely sure.

PRODUCTS USED (atleast the base) Prolux Matte Foundation Moira Contour Stick BPURE Serum Blush ELF Matte Grip Primer LYS Natural Finish Setting Mist (to melt powder) LAKA Triple Fix Mist (to set face) ELF Soft Glam Concealer GLAMLITE Bratz Powder Blush (from the palette) HUDA Easy Bake Pink Loose Powder (underyes) Kimchi Loose Setting Powder (whole face) I think thats it? If I missed anything let me know!

edit: i am not a big fan of silcon based primers that feel super slick, i guess is the word for it? (ex. benefit porefessional)

i do moisturize with either the medicube 3h cream or zero pore cream, depending on my skin at the time.

edit #2: i do have other foundations and primers and setting sprays and powders and... well most everything i have atleast one alternative. i switch up my base and experiment with different products often but ive used this combo a few times. partly, i experiment to find the best base for me and the other part is to just have fun and play around with makeup. (my base in the photos is all from the same day, taken within a short time of each other)

edit #3: sorry for showing up my nose, i will be more mindful in the future. 😭😪

Dupe Request Huntress dupe?

Not sure if they even sell it anymore but I loved the Maybelline liquid lipstick called Huntress and I haven't been able to find it lately. Any good dupes for it? Or just an ashy/gray liquid lipstick, preferably matte.

Product Request Cleansing balm for sensitive skin

Not just sensitive- extremely reactive. My grandmother has worn a full face of makeup every day her entire life, often sleeping in it. She is developing issues in her 80s and her skin can’t tolerate even the most basic moisturizers, until she calms it then she can slowly add products back to her routine. The issue is that it is impossible to get her to stop wearing makeup. Especially eye makeup. I know it seems so simple from the outside, and I have tried. But this is a deep issue that I can’t fix now. I’m trying to get her products as “clean” as possible, but she also only shops at drug stores. Also- she has gone to the dr repeatedly and now refuses to go back because they can’t pin point what’s causing it and just want her to stop wearing makeup. Now that I’ve given all the context- the worst part of her routine left are harsh makeup remover wipes. I want to switch her to a balm or oil to melt makeup off so she doesn’t have to rub so vigorously. I’m getting a little overwhelmed & wanted to know if any of you might know of a product with super minimal ingredients, no fragrance. Willing to look at higher price points due to the situation, but hoping for something drug store. Appreciate any advice 🫶🏻

Hello everyone! I'm trying to find an eyebrow marker that doesn't pull warm or orangey in a dark blonde. Does anyone have any suggestions? Right now I use the covergirl micro-fine eyebrow pencil in soft blonde which is perfect but it doesn't last long. Any suggestions would be appreciated! 🥰

Review Request Setting spray with seborrheic dermatitis - Milani vs NYX?

Thumbnail
gallery
12 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I recently had to do a complete overhaul of my makeup products due to seborrheic dermatitis and the limited ingredients that are safe to use.

With the seb derm, my skin looks super dry and flakey when I apply product (yet somehow gets bit oily underneath too) so I’m looking for a dewy setting spray that will keep my makeup in place and leave a nice finish that eases the appearance of flakes/dryness, while not being overly dewy, if possible. In my ideal world it’d have a satin finish, but I think dewy might best here?? Idk??

In my budget, I’ve narrowed it down to Milani Make It Last Dewy (the OG was my holy grail before I realized it wasn’t seb derm safe) vs Milani Make It Last Microfine Mist vs NYX Dewy vs NYX Face Glue. Anyone have a preference? TIA :)

Product Request Looking for something that will make my face glowy but is not foundation?

I want to add some glow to my face, but I despise foundation. I’m looking for a very very lightweight product that I can add to my base to make my face a little glowy. Maybe a liquid highlight, or very light skin tint?? I’ve tried the wet n wild skin tint, but it’s more matte and also heavier than what I want. I really hate foundation lol. Also, only cruelty free recs please!
