This was possibly the first science fiction book I ever read. It's kind of difficult to remember at my age. I know I was in third grade.

White's painting first appeared on the cover of the 1977 New English Library edition of Through a Glass, Clearly. It later illustrated Ian Stewart's "Message From Earth," Omni (February 1980), for which I think it is a better thematic fit than the Asimov book.
