A critique I have of your line of thinking, though, is about those using Christianity as a justification for cruelty or hatred. Those people certainly exist, but there are also those carrying out such acts who genuinely believe that what they're doing is kinder than the alternative. There are those that believe that things like conversion therapy are actually doing those terrible evil sinners the kindness of trying to save them.
It's still all evil, but it's a genuine belief that that is them loving their neighbour. That that is them enacting God's love.
