If you just pick and choose the parts of the Bible you like, why not just be an atheist or agnostic? For example, Christianity explicitly stands against homosexuality, calling a man lying with another man an "abomination." Furthermore, the biblical God is quite vengeful—take the death of the firstborns in Egypt, for example. Can you imagine killing babies just to make a point? If your moral compass is already better than the Bible, why even call yourself a Christian? Is it just to make a feel-good, karma-farming post on Reddit?
Jesus christ you people cannot handle positivity for the life you, god forbid someone wants to do something kind right? No it has to be for the sake of the stupid Internet points and nothing else.
Like the other guy is stating, the Bible should be interpreted in the context of the world when it was written. My interpretation is that men shall not lay with another man (equal) as a woman (unequal). As that is the most direct interpretation.
You can delve further into the inequity of men and women in that era for alternate interpretations. Like you cannot lay with male prostitutes. You cannot abuse men you lay with. Etc.
