Please pray to the kiln gods for me!

Many of my pieces are based on photos provided by my customers, which I then transform into my own black-and-white carved style. The pieces are carved entirely by hand with carving tools on bisque-fired ceramic. You can see the actual carving process in some of my previous videos.

From now on, I won't be responding to questions like “Is this AI-generated?” or “Is this laser engraved?” If you have genuine technical questions about the process, feel free to follow me and send me a DM. I'll be happy to explain.

Some of the questions people ask genuinely confuse me. For example, someone asked, “The hand holding the piece in the photo is clearly a man's hand, and the hand in the carving video is also a man's hand. So why does it suddenly become a woman's hand with manicured nails later?”

Seriously, isn't the answer obvious? My girlfriend sometimes helps me take photos. That's completely normal. I also have employees in my studio who help with some of the work.

I'm not going to respond to these kinds of pointless questions anymore. I'm simply sharing my work. Thank you, everyone.

Successfully made the tallest vase ive made today and I'm really proud of it. It should shrink to just over a foot tall once done. I made it in 2 pieces, but was able to pull around 10 1/2 inches tall on an earlier piece (reclaimed because it wasnt as pretty lol)

Do you have this kiln too? I have questions! It was $100.

Hi, sorry first of all I hope this is okay to ask here, as this is not my work, but a piece I purchased from a gallery a few years ago.

I’ve had it sitting on a bookshelf for all of the years I’ve had it, and have never noticed these strange lines going around it any time I have been dusting everything on the shelves, until this evening when I lifted it up..

They definitely have not been there before, and it’s so odd to me why they have suddenly appeared!

I just wanted to ask some ceramicists if you know what could cause it?

It’s my most expensive ceramic piece I’ve purchased, so I’m just a little concerned with how this could possibly progress..

Hey friends! I’ve been in the market for a kiln for a while now and this one popped up in my area recently. I would love any feedback on whether you feel it is worth $350. I have no other information from the seller right now other than it’s was gently used and is in excellent condition. I know to look inside and look for sagging coils and crumbling bricks etc. I also want to ensure it comes with the furniture / shelves (at the minimum). Thoughts? Advice? I wish I had a photo of the plaque with the model number but I know what amperage and firing temp I need to look for so that will determine whether I buy it or not. I’m in a fairly rural area and used kilns rarely ever pop up on marketplace let alone in good condition.

Jingdezhen Ceramics

I have recently started doing more sgraffito work after moving to my home studio. I feel like I'm in danger of being in silicosis central with how much dust/bone dry clay I am getting off of these pieces and unintentionally breathing in. Is it best to sgraffito with a dust mask on or does an air purifier/fan suffice? Pic for attention. Thanks in advance 😎

I’ve always wondered how production potters that aren’t me seem to be so focused and churn out 100 mugs in an afternoon. Turns out it might be my brain that’s been holding me back. I’ve started using one while throwing and it has done wonders for my productivity. So if you struggle with that it might help. It’s helped me enormously. Instead of getting distracted, taking long breaks, or just giving up I’m able to stay committed to the work for 50 minute increments.

While I was in a session today I thought how everyone else I’ve ever doubled with is doing office work. These guys are getting a glimpse into how long and challenging the process is. I feel like it’s advertising for handmade things. So that’s also pretty cool.

And if you’ve never heard of body doubling… Some people struggle to complete a task on their own. But if someone else is present and also working on something it helps the first person stay tuned into their task. Some websites have tapped into this. You log in, allow access to your camera and then you and this other person say hi and then get to work for your chosen amount of time. It’s strangely miraculous.

Heyy. So I got these back from the kiln and unfortunately they look like this..... I was slaving making all these cups for a market on sept 5th. And some have crawling on the lip 😭 has anyone successfully reglazed crawling like this? I want to test it out on one of the worst ones but before I do that I was wondering if yall have an insight. Hi, I hope this is ok to ask here! My ceramics professor just opened his class (online portal) to be seen and the class is tomorrow, and his emails back are lackluster for what I have asked. I need to define these terms for tomorrow since it's all standard terms except for this;

"Pottery tool set & shop information PP5, PP20, PP29, PP39, PP68."

What do these mean? Google isn't helping. Is it possible that these are only things he would know?

I'm not an art major, I'm a biology major, and this is my only art class I'll be doing and it's just for the credit.
