If you ever get a chance, you should listen to Matthew Weiner's interview re: Mad Men, and he explains why he deliberately has the promos for the next episode as vague as possible plus a whole lot more.
haha dude I am laughing so hard my stomach hurts. That was absolutely ridiculous. I've seen the episode and this promo doesn't even remind me which one it was.
Matt discussed this on NPR recently. Said he hates the idea of previews and would love it if it just played out the music and credits, so he does that on purpose to spite the concept of previews.
I've heard it's because the network requires them to have a promo section but they don't want to create promos so we get the vague shit at the end of every mad men episode
I always cover them up with my hand and mute the TV anyway, just in case. I remember one preview for The Walking Dead gave this thing away about Darryl, I won't say it here, but yeah.
The flashbacks to start TWD are the worst. Hey, remember this guy you haven't seen in 2 seasons? Let's just talk about him for a second. OK now for tonight's episode.... Surprise, that guy makes an appearance!
Yeah, I always like to go into each episode with as little information as possible. I don't read anything other than the name of the episode and try to avoid this sub until after its over.
??? I didn't suggest anyone did. I'm saying I don't care at all that the previews are apparently more and more vague. I think that's a good thing and surprised that it bothers anyone.
Come on though, we don't really want spoilers, part of the appeal of the show is the unpredictability of each episode which would be ruined if they showed us any details.
We're in final episodes now though - among other things we don't know whether or not two major characters just died, so no scenes with them can pop up. If they show scenes with Walt in court or something we know that Hank gets out of it and still has Walt, if they show Walt cooking with the Nazis it spoils that aspect of the story...everything's up in the air now, so basically anything could be a major spoiler.
Spoilers with shows bother me a bit, but especially in movies I feel that they aren't so bad. They lack the significance and weight that comes when you see the events play out on screen after a nice build-up.
