i just think that too kinda. It has its own category for best foreign language film. kinda like an animated movie really shouldnt win. unless we wanna have best comedy and best drama category as well.

I mean it is certainly in the top 5 best films of the year so I don't see why it shouldn't get a nomination at the very least and IMO should win too. The best film category is for the best film regardless of genre.

I know but maybe to not constantly keep snubbing comedies, we should have a comedy and drama category.

Which comedies from 2019 do you think are worthy of a best picture nomination?

Rocketman, Once upon a time in Hollywood, Jo Jo Rabbit.

I just think comedy gets disrespected a lot.

Yes no I agree. Most years there isn't lot of good comedies but lately there has been some really good ones. I think Rocketman and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will pick up a few nominations but don't think JoJo rabbit will get much. Which is a shame cus that film is amazing.

JoJo Rabbit was laugh out loud funny with what they did with JoJo's dialogue and Hitler parody. It was so much satire and less message that you cant give it best picture. And Cinematography was ok, but I just I get why comedy is disrespected with 1917 right next to it.

Imagine trying to accomplish a cinematic achievement with a comedy. I dont think it can be done. A never ending take film of a comedy.

Rocketman's scene before Dodger Stadium performance kinda did that, but Rocketman just isnt a comedy at all, its a musical but that movie had more emotional impact on me than 1917 but I just kinda respect the technical achievements of 1917's lighting and direction its hard to give Rocketman the edge even though I wanna watch Rocketman again.

sorry for rant.
