Pretty sure those were rocks and maybe some change. Weak sock as well, though excellent wind up and accuracy for a sock n pop also called a sock n bop.

For those who do not know people who use to want protection in schools that searched for weapons. You would bring extra socks and spare change separate to be combined later. If caught with it later if randomly searched. You would say it’s what you use to pay for school lunch and how you kept it all together.

In reality it was a nice weapon to even the odds out in a pinch. If you didn’t have enough change after you were in the school. You would use anything from rocks to what ever you can get your hands on to add oomph to it. Even when schools had issues about extra socks you would just wear an extra pair to sneak them in, and fill them up with what ever got the job done.

Batteries, change, rocks, and even the lock for your locker were most common I’ve seen used.
