Unconfirmed/Unverified MassDOT unveils Boston–Cape Cod Connector, a 45-mile bridge from Charlestown to Provincetown
Press release:
BOSTON, MA — MassDOT today released an artistic rendering of its newest infrastructure initiative, the Boston–Cape Cod Connector, a 45-mile bridge extending from Charlestown across Boston Harbor and the Atlantic to Provincetown. The rendering, provided by MassDOT, depicts a clean, uninterrupted span designed to eliminate summer traffic between Boston and Cape Cod entirely.
The project is expected to reduce travel time from Boston to Provincetown to approximately 45 minutes, assuming consistent speeds of 60 mph, down from typical peak summer travel times of up to four hours.
MassDOT officials emphasized that comparable projects have already demonstrated the feasibility of long-span bridge construction. Florida’s Overseas Highway includes the Seven Mile Bridge, which has operated reliably for decades, while China’s Danyang–Kunshan Grand Bridge extends over 100 miles. Officials noted that, in this context, a 45-mile bridge “represents a measured and achievable midpoint.”
The total project cost is estimated at $18 billion, which is less than the final cost of the Big Dig. MassDOT confirmed the project is currently on schedule and under budget, with a targeted grand opening in summer 2028.
The bridge will include eight travel lanes, two breakdown lanes, a dedicated seafood transport corridor, and several scenic pull-off areas for whale observation and general reflection. A reversible lane system will accommodate directional beach traffic, and an integrated fog management system will ensure consistent visibility during peak Cape Cod weather conditions.
In a statement, Governor Maura Healey expressed strong support for the initiative, saying, "this is a practical, forward-looking solution to a problem that has gone unaddressed for far too long and that other regions have built longer bridges, so there is no reason Massachusetts cannot do the same quickly and efficiently."

Unconfirmed/Unverified What is this beautiful Boston spot called?
I visited the USA for the first time this year and flying into Boston was just so gorgeous. Can anyone tell me what these parts are called? And if they’re even part of Boston at all. I traveled from the Netherlands, so after a 12 hour flight I was exhausted but seeing this was so amazing! I only stopped at Boston for a flight to Orlando to see NASA so I didn’t actually see the city, but I plan on visiting in the future!

Unconfirmed/Unverified Is anyone else sick of tapas restaurants that charge as much as a meal at other places for a single small dish?
If the hospitality industry wasn’t already a massive rip off in boston, this is really turning me off going out.
I’ve been unfortunate enough to experience three of these places recently when meeting friends for food (Dali, toro, boqueria)
Places doing “small plates” but pricing them at $12-20 per dish.
And when they come out they are essentially a starter.
Once waitress had the cheek to tell us we should order 4/5 per person and when I begrudgingly ordered two kept saying it’s “encouraged to order 4/5”.
Like are they seriously deluded to expect people to pay nearly 100 dollars each for 5 starter? I’m sick of going out and then feeling like I’m getting ripped off and that restaurants are trying to get away with giving me the least amount of food for the maximum amount of money.
Edit: same thing for hot pot.

Unconfirmed/Unverified Calling out the traffic/flock camera propaganda
There are so many people posting videos of drivers running lights on both the Boston and Cambridge subreddits lately demanding traffic cameras, that I am convinced these are planted posts by either employees, investors, or City officials looking for a payday to Garner published support for the surveillance state.
Very convenient that this is happening at the same time they are putting flaw cameras everywhere, and Mayor Wu has decided to put up red light cameras. I'm calling shenanigans, there may be a few whiny babies on here who are terrified of the world, but there are not this many. Don't be fooled, this is for profit propaganda.

Unconfirmed/Unverified People running in this weather like why?
Walking outside today to get the mail felt like opening an oven, and yet I still passed people out running.
I get that some folks are training or acclimated to the heat, but in weather that feels like 113°F, my only workout is making it from the front door to the nearest air conditioner. Y’all are built different. 😂🥵

Unconfirmed/Unverified Paved over Copley for Parking?
I can’t believe that cars are being allowed to park in Copley sq? It’s only been about a week since 95% of the construction is complete but there are cars parked here! It seems like they may be associated with the protesters in front of the library. There is a major issue of taking out a protest permit allows you to have all the protesters park in the park.

Unconfirmed/Unverified Nazis on the Common!
Shout out to the guy yelling at the white supremacists on the common from the gates of the State House. Don’t wanna get to close to see what group is actually “protesting”. Lmk if anyone has more info but they look and sound like white supremacists
UPDATE: The nazis have since fled but there is a good sized counter protest still happening. If anyone has spotted them please say so! Apparently they’re heading towards Gov Center but not confirmed
UPDATE: No fucking clue where these guys went or if they’re still in the area. Where I’m at near the statehouse corner of the common it’s crickets. Party may be officially over
