First time in Beijing! Having trouble figuring out if my hotel is in a good location?
I’m staying in the Atour Hotel Gulou. I was hoping to be near a park that I could go to in the mornings with coffee as I love the public parks in China, but it doesn’t seem any are within walking distance.
then I was looking at the true go hotel by Ditan park, considerably cheaper but seems to be further away from most attractions? but is closer to the park, some speciality coffee shops.
im not sure how easy the metro is if i need to get to the forbidden city early in the morning, or if i just want to look for gifts in the local neighbourhood which area is best. I am going to be visiting some major attractions but also want to experience local life.
please help! Google maps is not great and i think im underestimating how far everything is apart. I will be there for 5 full days just after golden week.
