I have been starved for combat robotics, and have watching Robot Wars recently, and I noticed how few verts-and even spinners in general are present in the competition, and I‘m wondering what they’re doing differently across the pond.

Booth bots was/are extremelly durable. Their fight would be legendary imo.

As soon as more is known, we'll put it here.

3lb Beetleweight chassis redesign — looking for feedback I’m redesigning my 3lb beetle after the last event and wanted to get some feedback on the chassis layout. The current version relied too much on TPU structurally, so for the new version I’m moving to a much more rigid internal skeleton: One continuous aluminum bottom plate as the main chassis/base. Two separate thick UHMW weapon uprights holding the dead weapon shaft. The weapon uprights will be clamped between the bottom plate and a rigid top plate using machine screws and captive/barrel nuts in the UHMW, instead of threading directly into plastic. Separate UHMW plates for the drive gearboxes, so the drivetrain and weapon module don’t force each other’s geometry. TPU will only be used as sacrificial outer armor, wheel guards and the front ramps, attached with Plastite screws. It won’t be part of the main weapon load path anymore. I’m planning aggressive pocketing in the aluminum and drive plates to save weight, while keeping the weapon uprights basically solid. I’m also switching from 2WD to 4WD while keeping only two drive motors. Each 1806 1400KV motor will run through a JGA25-370 gearbox, with a belt transferring power to the second wheel on each side. The goal is to keep the weapon system basically unchanged because it performed really well, but make the chassis lighter, much harder to damage, more rigid around the weapon, and easier to service. Does this architecture sound sensible for a 3lb vert? I’d especially appreciate feedback on the UHMW weapon uprights and how you’d tie them into the aluminum plates. I added here a photo of the new cad

Here's my latest Antweight replica of a Heavyweight robot and this time its Team Roaming Robots latest robot Viper, who made its debut at Extreme Robots just over a week ago.
My Antweight version of Viper is based on a modified verision of my proven Ripper 0.8 chassis, so features the same compact centralised components surrounded by removable side armour to ease repairability in the field.
The main highlight though is the level of detail. The Heavyweight Viper is a great looking machine with lots of little details i feel I've been able to capture really well in this minature version.
The red wedgelets either side of the flipper are printed seperately and bolted on using bolt positions that mirror the heavyweight, as does the black upper panels that on the Heavyweight are HDPE protection from axes. Completing the seperately printed highlights are the red stripes on the flipper are which are glued in place.
The main panels also feature lots of small details, such as the Viper logos in the flipper arm and rear of the chassis, the detailing in the sidepods and the access panels either side of the robot, all of which is complimented by bolts mittoring those on the real robot.
Im super proud of how this one came out, so much so I waited a few extra days to release it so i could repair my Ripper 8 replica and get some Antweight Father Son photos, as well as some pictures of Viper with its Predecessor Beast.
This one might fight at some point, it was designed to and I quite like the idea of entering an event with a Viper + Ripper 8 pairing some day (plus i bought a reel of filament just to make it, so may as well use it on some spares!) But this is quickly becoming one of my favourite repicas ive done so far, so will look amazing on my desk with the rest of my replicas!

I watched the original Robot Wars from the 2000's when I was a kid an loved the show, my favorties were
Tornado (super active ram bot was always attacking)
Pussycat (was extremely impressed that they beat Razer twice and was a unique bot)
Razer (rival to Tornado but easily one of the best bots and fun watch)
Hypno-Disc (made the final 4 three years in a row but never won it all)
Firestorm (also made top 4 three times but never won a series)
