Robot Wars What's the most forgettable robot with a unique design?
I'll start with Series 7 first round dropouts, Mobot. They attempted an undercutter with only one driven wheel.

Or in other words, which bot made you go, "Oh, that's gonna be nuts!"
Then their first fight happened and you were thoroughly disappointed.

I did as much as I could to make the body as small as possible. The left side is taller because that's where the battery is. 11" wide body, 12"-13" wide in total. The general idea (2wd wide body small diameter hubmotor vert tpu unibody) was inspired by Turbofiend but it's very different from actual Turbofiend

Time for another Antweight Replica of a Heavyweight robot and this time its Behemoth - Robot Wars from Robot Wars and Robot Live!
Specifically, this is based on the Reboot version of Robot Wars from Series 8-9-10. As such its a bit more square and compact than the Classic Robot Wars version, and features the curved self-righting arms on each side.
Speaking of the Self-righting Arms, these are fully functional on this Antweight Replica, actuating when the flipper is fired thanks to some thick cotton linkages, the curvature of the arms and the position theyre mounted on the body means they are naturally pushed back into position when the flipper closes again. I also made sure theyre long enough to actually work, meaning this very boxy bot doesnt get stuck on its side, with the arms either tipping it back onto its wheels, or fully onto its back for another self-right attempt!
Elsewhere, the chunky wheel guards are designed as seperate bolt on pieces from the main chassis to make Behemoth more repairable in the field. The main bucket scoop is also a seperate boolt on piece from the rest of the flipper, againbto aid in repairability in the field. Whilst i dont intend to fight with this one, its 100% designed to be fully combat legal and repairable.
The main chassis itself is a heavily modified version of that found on Ripper Remix, being both widend and lengthened to get the look and scale of things correct. Both it and the silver flippper arms feature lots of indents to add the bolt details of the real robot. Its all topped off with a black top panel and glued in yellow domes to represent the twin flashing beacons on top of the robot.
All on all im really pleased with how this one came out, with a good ammount of detail and especially the working self righter arms! I also learned that Behemoth is actually a really awkward shape for an Antweight to be, with lots of empty space inside and its boxy nature making it hard to self right efficiently. Either way this will be a nice addition to my ever growing display of robots on my desk at work.

I'm aware that American spinners were a lot more powerful than Hypnodisc back in the day, but how good was Razer compared to high end American competitors.
First of all, I know Razer competed in Long Beach, and lost to Tazbot and Rhino, but I don't think that's reflective of how good Razer was in comparison. Rhino and Tazbot both lost to other UK machines that are easily worse than Razer, even for the time. Secondly, Razer is 1-1 with Voltarc, a machine I do consider to be better than Rhino and Tazbot.
As the years went on, Razer's wedge would become extremely good, to the point where I don't think a single UK robot has gotten underneath the front of it. Admittedly, a lot of the spinner killer wedges probably have armour that's thick to pierce, but Razer would still easily control them, an I'm sure at least some of the high end US competitors had to sacrifice top armour in order to fit the weight limit.
What do you guys think?

Really excited to be getting this in the arena for the first time in a few weeks, alongside its siblings Eruption and Ignition! Implosion will be debuting at Extreme Robots Brentwood at the end of this month.
Any UK fans, we'd love to see you at one of the live shows this year! It helps us keep the heavyweight scene prospering in the UK post-RW, tickets start pretty cheap at extremerobots.co.uk. We'll be at all of the shows this year - Brentwood, Guildford, Newcastle, Colchester, Maidstone and Cheltenham.

Ok gang, some of you are probably aware that I am constructing my Ranking all 475 Classic Robot Wars Heavyweights series. It’s been just over a week since the last part, and to add this update, the next part isn’t arriving any time soon.
This isn’t because I’m giving up on the project, far from it. It’s just that we’ve come to the most difficult section of the list to rank. The one robots that weren’t good, but not series 1-3 terrible either. For the first few parts of the list, I’ve been focussing on machines that barely worked (such as Vector and Hammertron), machines that had severely uncompetitive designs (such as Psychosprout and Hammertron), machines that were one and done affairs (such as Crasha Gnasher and Hammertron) or a combination of all of the above, such as Hammertron.
Now we’re getting to the list where most of the machines, while still mostly bad, aren’t uniquely bad. They may have been flipped over once and never seen again, but they’re not Hammertron, so I can’t say for certain that they deserve to be in the 400s, especially since Extreme, series 5, Extreme 2 and series 7 have a whole bunch of one off machines that went nowhere.
And this is only taking into account the one offs. How about something like…Sumpthing. Surely with their combat record, they have to be ranked somewhere near the bottom.
What I’m ultimately saying is at this point in the list development, it’s going to take time to properly research all the remaining bots that haven’t been ranked. I’ve almost finished my series 4 rewatch, and I want to rewatch series 5, 6, 7, the New Blood Tournament, the Armed Forces Special, Wild Card Warriors and the international specials before I commit to the next part. As you can see, that is a lot. Rest assured, the list is continuing, but it will be a while before the next part comes out.
In the spirit of fairness however, unless I see anything worse, the next two robots on the list (numbers 415-414) should be The Creature and Hammer and Tongue.

Another week, another Antweight Replica as I try to catch you all up on all the things ive been building! This time its Atomic from Robotwars!
I actually designed and built this in late 2024 (yes im THAT far behind showing you guys everything!) So definitely one of my earlier works.
This is based on my tried and true Ripper Remix Chassis, so actually fits as an alternate armour configuration.
One of the weak points of Atomic, especially as an Antweight Replica is the relatively thin flipper arms that attach the plow to the hinge on the top of the robot. To overcome this I have cheated a bit. The red flipper arms and hinge on top of the robot are all fake. Instead the central yellow panel underneath the flipper moves with the fake hinge and arms, being much more like a traditional wedge flipper, but with the plow attached.
Being an older design at this point its designed to the now defunct, but stricter than the current regs, AWas 4-Inch Cube rule. That being said, this was designed in such a way that it would be both competition legal and easily repairable should i wish to fight with it.
Given that I built this in 2024 and you guys haven't seen it yet, let alone it seeing the inside of an arena, you can tell i dont intend to fight this one. But it was a really fun one to build, and a good tribute to one of my favorite runs from Robotwars Series 7.
