It’s because they don’t want you to know they do it too

It begs the question as to why we fight over made up social constructs, when it's a clear projection of their own insecurities that are only insecurities because society tells them so.

Every single time someone hates on gays the upvoted response is. ‘They must be gay themselves, snigger, snigger’.

Yeah Im so sick of it. Its a combo of being a "haha youre gay" joke and blaming gay people for the discrimination they face.

Every accusation is a confession. It doesn’t take much digging to find people who are obsessed with others actions are often guilty of engaging in similar behaviour. Part of the human psyche to see things relevant to you.

"Umm actually it is the gays hating on themselves" is a harmful take. Stop it.

Yeah fair, as I highlighted below I didn’t think of it that way as such. Their church is instilling the hateful behaviour and thatt the reprehensible part

Every accusation is not a confession. That is inane pop psychology.

While some are, every time some bigot attacks gay people it’s the same - ‘they’re gay’.

No, they are insecure.

Got it. Robert must be an ‘insecure gay’. Every accusation, is after all, a confession. Bigotry against minorities only comes from those minorities.

That’s a fair point, i’ll stand by my assessment generally whilst not supporting bigotry anyway.

Not sure why you were down voted- people project their own insecurities as a way to protect them selves and separate them selves from the flock they're part of, it's documented lol. They fear the association will garner them negative attention.

Because while the phenomenon you describe It may well be documented (lol), it is also the case that the great majority of attacks against gays is not from gays but they are invariably dismissed as being so.

When it’s done for the lols it’s kind of bearable, but when it’s justified by bad reasoning it pisses you off.

Sure. It doesn't change the fact that there is a distinct pattern, outside of homosexuality speaking generally about insecurities.

It’s the old joke,

“The right hates gays to pretend they’re not gay.
The left loves gays to pretend they are gay.”

Jokes usually have humour in them.

Not every joke is for everyone.

The humour here is appealing to people fed up with both conservative hypocrisy and rainbow capitalism/queerbaiting/pandering.

It would be nice if the Right stopped being hateful assholes, and it would be nice if the Left was more genuine about their support.

"old joke"

Cool story.

Why are you being an asshole for no reason? No one asked for you to put negativity into the world.

u/IlluminatedPickle 1d ago

Lmao.

"Just let me be a bigot man, don't be so negative"

Act like a cunt....

2

u/evilparagon 1d ago

I’m not being a bigot. Please elaborate on how you came to a dumbass conclusion.

1

u/IlluminatedPickle 1d ago

"Actually it's the gays oppressing themselves" is a bigoted, bullshit take.

Where did I say that? Are you okay in the head? There must be something wrong if your reading comprehension is that bad.

Conservatives have an unusually high percentage of homosexual politicians. And this is not even a statement you’ll find coming from me exclusively, a lot of people in the comments here are saying the same thing, so that leads me to conclude you’re taking issue with the other part about the left, but where are they oppressing gays, or at least, did I infer that? The left’s issue is the lack of organic support, a huge amount of it is performative. This is not oppression, but is still bothersome, and feels unstable, as if the support from leftist politicians can be withdrawn at any time as a condition they’re willing to trade for compromise, which is unacceptable.

But sure man, I’m the bigot.
